[Q] Blue Screen Splotche and Dark Shadows - AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note II

There is a blue tinted 'smear' in the left center of my phone. I removed my screen protector and realized it wasn't a smudge. It's the screen itself. It doesn't appear in screen shots either. It's apparent with white background.
I also noticed increasingly more dark shadows in my screen when pitch black screens or loading screens show up. They're hard to describe. It's like seeing a lcd with bleeding light but in various smears or shapes.
I've had this since I got the phone on launch day but since then I've noticed the number increase.
I thought maybe I've banged it too much or pressure in my pocket. But I never keep anything in my pocket with my phone besides my leather wallet occasionally. I also had a flip cover too which makes it weirder.

This is a samsung screen thing...most amoled screens have this... I belive its the glue or somthing...if u turn ur screen all the way down and use a screen filter to lower the brightness even more.. it should show up on blacks...there is a thread somewhere buried in qna with same issue.

Is this a sign that my screen will be going bad soon?

I have a Tilt 2, and just recently noticed that when the screen is off, a section of the screen has the "rainbow like warp color". Its not oil or grease, it wont wipe off so the problem must be in the screen, though it looks like its on the surface. However, I do not notice any degradation when the screen is on. Everything color wise and everything looks normal.

Should I be worried about this? Is this a sign that even though the phone is new, and its never been mis-handled, that the screen is going to have problems soon? I have insurance on the phone and not sure if I could even get it replaced at this point, or if id have to wait until the screen actually has issues when its on.

I have it too. But it doesn't interfere with my use of the device, so I don't really care...
No there all like that, I have gone through 2 and they both had more then 4 dead pixels as well. Find a dark black photo or just turn your camera on and put you finger over the lens and you will find many.

The Newton Rings are probably very prevalent. I can’t say that I agree with your statement on the dead pixels though. Sounds like you got unlucky with both devices. I’ve tested mine with 4 images for black, red, green, and blue. Every pixel works fine for me.
Its caused by the layers between the touch screen digitizer and the actual LCD screen. The soft flexible LCD materials touch and form Newton's Ring patterns that appear as the pictures show.
On my old phone (A kaiser) the original screen did not exhibit this behavior, but when I replaced the screen, the new one did...
Luck of the draw, and no it is nothing bad...
I had this problem in european tp2 model... took it for repair and they changed the screen in warranty...

Samsung Galaxy S III screen problem with black color in the dark

Last night I was laying on my bed watching a movie on my phone. I notice somthing is wrong with my screen, when there's no light in the room and my phone is on a black screen. I have something wrong with my black color on the bottom of the screen, its really hard to describe but if you look at it, it looks not normal. But when im not on a black screen the screen looks 100% normal you cant even tell there is an issue with my screen. I was wondering if other people are getting this issue. Just go to a room that's really dark, put your phone with a black wallpaper and look at the screen you might have to turn up brightness to see it.

OOOOOOO wow... thats lame but I feel alot better that you said that. thanks for letting me know.
mine has it too its normal
In very dark conditions, all these screens seems to have a noticeable glow on black, and lines, dots, and/or spots that are darker (like ink marks). I got mine replaced twice and settled on the third with only a single small spot on the right middle of the screen.

Yea, i have it too. never really thought anything of it... kinda figured it probably was just something to do with amoled screens. Not like i'm frequently looking at a black screen anyway... and it's only really noticable in the dark.
they look like black blotches of paint or something right?
My Infuse and SGS2 both have them is thats what you are referring too. if you load a brown image like XDA brown far more noticeable.
that is how i noticed them on other two devices.
Maybe I'm just lucky. But I don't have those blotches on my s3. Did have them on my atrix 4G though. And this sgs2 I was borrowing from a friend. Only had my gs3 since yesterday though. Maybe age matters?

Yea I've just got a small black blotch at the bottem left of my screen. Only noticeable when its pitch black

What's funny is. On my Atrix they were visible even with "color" showing. Faint. But visible. Very noticeable on black screens though. Gs2 wasn't too bad. But this gs3 shows none whatsoever.

[Q] Pink Smudge

Hello xda
can you please help me?
A weird pink smudge (size of a finger tip) appeared on my 2weeks old galaxy note 2. Im not using a screen protector but it is in a great condition, few really light scratches, screen is perfectly clean. Smudge is visible on white/yellowish background, but doesnt dissappear on other colours (gray etc,) and is noticable. Ive made a screenshot on the phone, and the smudge isnt visible on the screenshot, just on the screen. Touch is working fine. Other colours are also working on the pink smudge, like when im using Note app, i can paint some stuff , when i paint the smudge with black it isnt visible, but when i paint white its visible. Its placed in the middle left side of the screen. I dont know the cause of it. Can i fix it somehow?
It sounds like the AMOLED panel is messed up... can you take a picture with a camera to show us what it looks like exactly?
It's only 2 weeks old, take it back.
dead pixel

Faulty! Get it replaced! ASAP!
take it back, but before that just remove the screen protector and see if there is any difference.
Some wet application protectors tend to leave behind pink stain in some areas sometimes. But this does look more like a screen issue. But just check before submitting phone to samsung for repairs.

i have no screen protector.
Also a new question could this be made by poking/knocking the screen with a tip of a finger? I heard the screen is really though but I really don't know the cause. And if so, does warranty cover such thing?
it's a stupid question. But I noticed the smudge sometime after a random dude was poking my screen with his finger tips get my attention.

Take it back, under normal use (and even in cases where you'd tap rather hard on the screen) you should never see this... it almost looks like pressure damage to the AMOLED display panel, maybe it's not seated properly. Either way, you should definitely seek replacement or repair ASAP.

Brown spots on the screen

hey i just realized that my s3 has a part of the screen with a brown spots,i attached a photo...I would like to know how to fix it please
That's screen burn in. No fix except to replace the screen. That's one of many reasons white background apps suck.

[Q] Dark spots behind phone screen

Hi, I have noticed dark spots behind my phone screen for quite some time.
These are visible only when I turn the blue light filter at night.
Please see the attachea screenshots.
Circles can be seen in the dimmed picture.
The other picture is without the blue light filter.
I don't use a screen guard, and I sweat a lot all the time. (ears are wet)
I never dripped this beauty in water.
Please help. Shall I buy silica gel dessicants or is it something else?

Can you point exactly where the blue spots are? I don't see them anywhere in your screenshot. My guess is your screen is compromised that only your view is affected. When you take screenshots, the system snap the 'screen data' only. You may need to get the display panel.
