Focal app for one v - HTC One V

Hi All,
I tried to find a way to install cm app for camera called focal. Unfortunately this is not as simple as I thought. Installing an app file in ordinary way gives force close while opening it.
Has anyone tried/test it? Would this work on other roms, like shpongle, android v 4.2.2? Or is it only for cm 4.3?

Wont work on shpongle for sure.... Rest u have to check.... Might work on 4.1.2....

Focal is still in Alpha and needs a lot of work still.

I was hoping that at least I could run it to check what CM guys have developed :/

Are you removing the original .apk first?
Best bet would be either to (backup first) uninstall the original camera.apk file with titanium backup pro or use root explorer to overwrite one with the other.
You won't be able to just install it using the .apk file
What CM9 rom are you using anyhow?
its only one unofficial cm9 out there...
but we are not allowed to post it on XDA.
i pm u the link

Ha ha. I know it. Nice ROM; shame about the echo!
yes, thats the bad thing....
but anyway, a nice port!
It is not possible at this time since it relies on Sense framework. It might never be possible due to the imaging chip.

I'm on CM9 too, and I miss the Sense Camera as well..
However, I think a port should be possible, because the MIUIv4 port has the Sense Camera app and MIUI bases on CM9... or am I wrong?

The current One X MIUI base is on a Sense rom, not CM9.
Its not possible because the sense camera need some libs from HTC.
Does anyone knows a other good camera app for cm9?

May be Try YourSelf
How? Explain pls.
I allready tried it the copy/paste way with setting permissions, it ended up by having NO SMS App.
Explain how to port it, and ill do it on my own.
You could try installing the app like any other app so it replaces the one in the system
Bear in mind that a lot of stock apps and functions aren't available on custom roms
I installed 4.1.1. Messaging App on the play store and it's for free, works like a charm and is now my main messaging app.

Nope, this problem starting from 2 weeks ago.. until now.. can you help?? :silly:
This happens with almost all one v users
It will go away with time.
Go to settings-apps-camera and clear its cache.
Mine started on the second day and stopped by the 5th or 6th day.

Rooting and flashing doesn't help the cam get better, but it gives you many other privileges.

Uuhm.. okay.. what about flashing another kernel ?
-I also have samsung galaxy wonder, flashing the kernel help that phone camera getting better, and the picture from my attachment was taken by that wonder-
In your Opinion -- is this camera problem caused by ROM, Kernel or Hardware Fault?
-See My Attachment, I did so many restart, but the camera still not work, is it hardware fault? maybe type of the battery is fixed battery ? -
As waiting solved my same exact problem,I suggest you wait.It may be a kernel problem, not sure....

It could also be a corrupted jpg file in your pictures folder. Try copying them all off onto your computer and clearing out the folder on your phone.
...or just install 3rd party camera apk from play store and that's it...
Not to mention, root your phone, choose rom and you'll have "a device", not just boring hov...

hmm,, stock cam is the best.. but if I root this device, I need to unlock this bootloader from htcdev, that means void my warranty..,
But maybe there is a chance when I change this phone Stock ROM and Kernel, the camera will work again.. :silly:
I just confused what should I do with this phone..
It 'may or may not,or void some parts of your warranty'in terms of HTC.if you flash a custom Rom,cam will surely work, but in jb ROMs,the resolution is not 5mp and its a little buggy.

Do you have some suggestion for which ROM and kernel should I flash?
Don't hurry.take time.or you may do irreparable damage to your phone.when you're satisfied and confident, then only root.
I am currently using my sense rc2.0(full sense) Rom by the great dev ckpv5,I find it a very neat Rom.
but again, its upto you which Rom and kernel suits you best, whether you want a daily driver,or for fun or pure smoothness and responsiveness, speed and agility.
I cannot recommend you a Rom as I'm unfamiliar with your needs and usage.my use is moderate, some time on xda, calls, messages, little gaming, etc.I find my sense Rom very suitable for this type of use...

AOSP Front Facing Camera

Hi, all. So, I was wondering if there are any fixes for the front facing camera bug for third party apps when using AOSP ROMs. When I use front facing camera in third party apps, causes force reboot. I hear this is a common thing with AOSP ROMs, and there has got to be another thread on this (which I've yet to find that offers any real answers). Not sure if this problem affects Hangouts yet, but I'm pretty sure it would have the same problem.
Do a google search for note 2 camera4.3 apk. you'll have to uninstall your existing gallery and then flash the apk file . then reboot into recovery and fix permissions. I use this on my d2att and camera works great.. focal and photosphere.
Thanks!

Thanks for the advice! I'll give that a try. I couldn't figure out how to fix permissions in CWM, though. I thought it was supposed to in "Advanced", but I couldn't find it.

been a while since i used cwm, I'm using twrp. The option to fix permissions is in advanced with twrp. I googled it for cwm and most say the option has been removed and some say not to use it in cwm.

OK. Apparently, the only way to fix permissions for CWM is in the ROM manager app, which I already have. This lets you pick and choose which apps you want to fix permissions for. I'll look into it further and give it a try. If I have to use TWRP, then so be it. Just not really familiar with it. Thanks for all the help, though. I'll post if it works.
Installed, but same problem.
So... first I'd like to say Photosphere is AWESOME! However, I still have the same problem with the front facing camera. If it works at all, it FC when picture is snapped. I think I need to figure out how to set the flashed camera a default or something. I don't know.

Yeah... I understand this is a pretty common problem with CM 10 and AOSP roms. I gotta wonder if there is a solid solution to this or if I just did something wrong. I replaced the stock camera/gallery with the Note 2 camera 4.3, but it still does the same thing. Tried wiping dalvik cache and fix permissions, but nothing seems to have worked. Now running Dandroid cyangenwiz ROM and that works fine, it just isn't smooth and nice like AOSP. Love some of the features, but miss the buttery smoothness of CM 10.2. You said that you haven't had any problems with front facing camera?

Is there anybody with this combination? I tried to download the HTC Dotview App from Play Store.
It gave me an Error -505, so next try was sideloading but even this doesnt work. So does anybody have an
idea for an alternate app? Saw DotCase.apk in CM for M8, but isnt installable ether.

When I tried Candy5 a couple of weeks back the dot view case was not detected (opening and closing) so doubt it would work even if the app could be run.
Until someone does a port or a new version of the xposed module, you need the dot view app, which requires Sense.
Here is a working solution
