hi!
is it possible to get the Sense 4.0 Camera app for CM9?
if yes, where can i find it and how can i install it?
Thanks for help!
Try to install this camera.apk. It should be the original sense 4 camera app.
I took this apk from stock rom (RUU 1.29.401.8).
Don't know if it works.
thanks m8.
i found this:
http://forum.cyanogenmod.com/topic/37385-htc-sense-apps/
well, i would love to go to CM9, but i really miss the HTC Camera App as well as Sense Gallery and Sense Dailer

Hi,
Thanks for the link suggested.
For me does not work.
Message is: Application not installed. An existing package by the same name with a conflicting signature is already installed.
Any suggestion to overcome this?
Thanks
No idea m8...

Are you removing the original .apk first?
Best bet would be either to (backup first) uninstall the original camera.apk file with titanium backup pro or use root explorer to overwrite one with the other.
You won't be able to just install it using the .apk file
What CM9 rom are you using anyhow?
its only one unofficial cm9 out there...
but we are not allowed to post it on XDA.
i pm u the link

Ha ha. I know it. Nice ROM; shame about the echo!
yes, thats the bad thing....
but anyway, a nice port!
It is not possible at this time since it relies on Sense framework. It might never be possible due to the imaging chip.

I'm on CM9 too, and I miss the Sense Camera as well..
However, I think a port should be possible, because the MIUIv4 port has the Sense Camera app and MIUI bases on CM9... or am I wrong?

The current One X MIUI base is on a Sense rom, not CM9.
Its not possible because the sense camera need some libs from HTC.
Does anyone knows a other good camera app for cm9?

LG Camera is not bad either... Especially the camcorder (setting of fps,Mbps etc)... UI is not as good as stock sense, but still ok...

Hey y'all! I did a whole guide of using the Vanilla MMS app on HTC Sense, it was a SUCCESS! Soo now, I was wondering if someone could see if the DIALER on the Vanilla ROM can work with the HTC Sense ROM.
So basically, I am needing someone to Extract the Vanilla (or other ROM) Dialer and put it on the Sense UI ROM. Somehow, my phone has different settings, so I can do this myself.
If you find out, please provide the APK and a guide if possible!!
This should be fairly easy and possible. Should be just like porting the MMS on Vanilla to HTC Sense! I need testers! Thanks guys!
Hope you like my guide on Vanilla MMS on HTC Sense! thanks all!
PS. Is it possible for Vanilla Gallery to work on Sense UI? I will be testing this tomorrow, also, I will keep this thread updated! Thanks!!
Also, if anyone has CM and whatever kinds of ROMS out there, If they can post their Dialer.apk's or apk's related to dialers/phones that would be AWESOME thanks!
Anyone know how to BOLD the Title? I kinda FAILED at it! hhahah thanks guys!
I will test anything you want i HATE the sense dialer!

I can't remember now, but a while ago I used the contacts.apk and phone.apk from an aosp rom (don't remember which one) on a sense rom (not sure which one either, maybe it was Tainted Vanilla).
You can try ripping those apks from and eclair (not froyo) rom and seeing if they work, or download the old Tainted Vanilla rom (maybe even one of the new ones) and see which dialer they use.

maybe rip the contacts.apk and phone.apk from CyanogenMod-6.1 for Vision :: V6.1.0-RC2 and give that a shot.
btw: you can download the rom, un-zip them and navigate to system/app/ and grab the apk's from there, That is what I did for the vanilla Mms.apk
thanks Wheeliest! You never disappoint me! hah
Also, if anyone has CM and whatever kinds of ROMS out there, If they can post their Dialer.apk's or apk's related to dialers/phones that would be AWESOME thanks!

Cool! thanks for the support guys! A little mistake I did.. i didn't copy the Contacts.apk haha soo if someone can copy that and maybe the lib file like shortlived says! thanks guys! lets make this into a reality!
edited because i found my mistake....also any luck?
Here is what ive gotten to work so far... I found a replacement dialer here http://androidforums.com/eris-all-things-root/59459-replace-htc-dialer-dialerone-vanilla-clone.html
Download that file there then take these steps
1. change file name to com.android.htcdialer.apk
2. get your phone into recovery and mount the /system
3. adb push com.android.htcdialer.apk /system/app/
4. restart phone and your good to go.
be warned this does not get you the stock dialer. This is a clone type app which does look very similar but it has a few bugs. the main ones being it still uses the htc contacts app to add info and whatnot. i will play with this some more and see if i can't get it to work better by changing over the contacts.apk however I see a LOT of things all tied together with sense so i'm not sure how much more we will be able to do. it might be eaiser to just make a better clock/weather/animations and drop the sense ui all together.
My god.
["b] initiates the bold and ["/b] terminates it. (get rid of the " when ur acutally doing it)
why would u [b/] and then type ur message?
ur just initiating it and then terminating it...

I'm not a huge fan of Sense in general, but the Sense camera app is imo much better than the stock one so I was wondering if it was possible to flash the EVO or Incredible camera on an AOSP and be able to use the camera app. I tried searching the forums for this one, but nothing turned up. Thanks guys!

Ha I knew as soon as I posted it someone was going to suggest Skyraider Athena. I'm using cyanogenmod 7 nightlies right now and love it, but just wish I could flash the sense camera over it - i guess I'm kinda of particular.

Try installing this with Astro/ES/Root Explorer.
Disclaimer: I am NOT a dev. I pulled this from a ROM zip I had on my computer. If something happens to your phone because of this, not my fault. That said, give it a shot
I know CM6 has tap to focus in the camera app. Not the sense camera, but a much better stock one. You could even tap to focus taking video. Maybe it will make it to CM7 sometime down the road.
It wont work

Nope, didn't work. It was designed to replace the camera on a sense rom with the EVO version, but figured I'd give it a try anyway.
Guess someone has to code it
good luck finding a solution. that was my main reason i couldn't stay with an aosp rom.. the sense cam is much better. hopefully someone could code it to work.

I'm going to say no because the evo sense camera is based on HTC frame work which is incompatible with ASOP framework. Then again, I could be wrong.

same reason for me...I know IncredibleDoes had an AOSP ROM with the Sense camera, I just wish there was a way to make an update.zip or a working .apk for every AOSP rom.
It's been done on the nexus one, on Enomther's TheOfficial NexusOne rom. There is an update.zip for adding the HTC cam, and restoring the stock cam. Do a diff on these update zips, and try to find the differences (most likely found in framework files), and apply them to the rom of your choosing.
This may require some smali/baksmali know-how, but it's achievable.
Original Thread
HTC Cam
Stock Cam
NOTE! DO NOT FLASH THESE ZIPS, THEY PROBABLY (read: MOST LIKELY) WILL NOT WORK. You have been warned.
If you want to flash it, do so with a nandroid backup of your current rom on hand.
PS This may have already been done for CM on the nexus, but I can't remember correctly where (or if) I actually saw it.
There are supposed to be nice replacement camera apps in the market, although I haven't tried any of them.
Typed on my Incredible phone!

I might give this a shot, def prefer the Sense camera. Can I verify the link though, both download htcmusic_2.14.1.zip and have the HtcMusic.apk in them
Fixed the links in my post.
The camera requires some hooks/drivers in the kernel, so a ziggy kernel may work, or you'd need to talk to enomther. I would attempt this myself, but school starts tomorrow, and I have no more free time.
i know its possible to take stock apps like mms and push it to the desire rom and it works..but is it possible to do the opposite?
I think you can use Kitchen to do that

Try here.
What you want to do is make your own custom ROM. I am doing this myself but I am getting some errors. Try searching for posts with the [KITCHEN] tag on the Title line.

woah damn thats alot of stuff to do..the only thing im trying to do is use sense camera app on stock
taking stock apps to a sense rom is easy because their stand alone apks most of the time. HTC apps often interweave their code so I'm guessing your camera app is trying to reference stuff from the sense framework.
You can't use the Sense camera app on the T-Mobile ROM, because you are missing the Sense framework.

Ok I don't know if its just me and when I download the ROMS that have been made compiled for JB but in both I have flashed I still have no camera app. Is it not available yet because they change the camera app or am I blind? I've flashed Team Inferno's ROM and Bixie's ROM.

I think you might be blind... lol jk. But no seriously. I've never not had the camera app in any of the JB roms I've flashed (although I'm CDMA). It's still called "Camera..." Perhaps the gapps weren't packaged correctly with the rom so it doesn't show up? Have you looked in /system/apps to see if Camera.apk is there?

Lol wouldn't put it passed me for being blind x) I did check to see if the apk was in the system, its not. BTW I'm on the GSM GNex. Also used the android APK Swapper to double check and it's not there.

Wow. Very interesting. When I went into /system/app Camera.apk wasn't there, but I had the Camera application... I went to drag the Camera app into "app info" and it comes up with Gallery version 1.1.4000, so obviously the Camera application is grouped or side-loaded with the Gallery application. Perhaps try reinstalling Gallery?
You are correct. Normally I remove the gallery apk from ROMs since I prefer Quickpic. Doing this on a Jelly Bean ROM also removes the camera.

It's possible to use the sense 3.6 camera on ViperInc ????

I'm not sure why you'd want to do that as the sense4 apk is waaaay better, but i think you could possible extract one from any of the 3.6 sense roms (Revolution, Ascension, Leak, MIUI4) and install it?

I don't think sense 3.6 stuff works on 4. I remember when Viper was being worked on - I tried something of that nature (might have even been the camera) and it didn't work. But of course you are free to try. Don't forget to set permissions after copying it in place.
