Also every time I restart my Bluetooth is turned on and the screen timeout is set to 10 mins. I'll post a video later

The lock screen disappearing and the power menu going away is a bug that can randomly happen apparently. You probably trigged this bug by going into the lcdtest menu (typing *#0#* or whatever it is). The only way to fix this is a master reset. Just avoid using the lcdtest menu and it shouldn't happen again.

alright will try to do a master reset again and not do the lcd test this time .....

it's all in the software
keep an eye on what you are installing, and how the apps behave in the phone
some apps stay in the background if you don't exit them properly
the screen lock bug is a known issue that gets triggered after you run some test
to get it back just restore everything back to default using factory wipe
did the factory reset .... and didnt do any test .... yet the second day the lock screen disappeared and the third day the restarting happened and still it continues

yea I'm sure its just a software issue hopefully its fixed soon.
but I've tried everything. like the person above from me said, it happened on the second day.
I've tried factory resetting the phone and even flashing a stock rom and no go. its gone.
im not having the restart issue though
hope everything will be fixed in ice cream sandwich .... the lock screen in that is a facial recognition ... so hope it will be a huge improvement ... cant wait for that .... just read somewhere that samsung might get ice cream sandwich to s2 users as early as December
Will samsung be releasing a patch before ICS to address the pattern draw lockscreen issue? This is the only problem preventing me from leaving the sensation and jumping onboard the SGS2. I carry a lot of sensitive material, so that would be a huge security breach.
Ive only had this issue when the phone boots on. There are unlock icons but i see my homescreen and the phone is locked. Rooted to jugs 2.6 and still the same thing.

This was a big deal with the Samsung Behold 2. I am surprised samsung repeated this software defect with such a high end phone. I wonder if there will be a patch for this before the ICS update. IMO this is worse than the vertical lines!
Problem Solved
i actually figured out a way to restore my lock screen back.
Note: This involves messing with the efs folder. So do this at you own risk
also, your phone must be rooted in order to do this.
Tools Needed:
1. Hex Editor
2. Root Explorer
Steps to restore:'
1. Using root explorer locate the /efs/imei/ folder. In that folder there should be a file called keystr. In my case the file was missing which is why the lock screen was missing and was causing my problems.
2. using root explorer create a new file called keystr
3. also in root explorer open the file keystr in text editor and type ON
4. now go into hex editor and locate the /efs/imei/keystr file.
5. using hex editor the first two values in green should be 4f and 4e. all others should be 00.
6. make sure you save the file.
7. reboot.
Sorry to bring up and old thread but I just wanted to have it here incase anyone has the same problem in the future. I had the same problem as well after running LCD Test. To fix it I followed the solution on this thread

It fixed my problem without a factory reset!
Hi guys
Im very happy so far with the Note2 I think when you get used to the size is the best android phone (not for long I know )
However I can't strees how annoyed I am with the Autorotate BUG
every other day i need to restart the phone because it would not rotate.
does any one know a way to fix , or have a better solution than restart the phone?
Many thanks to all who read this
Um..disable Smart Rotation in Display Settings, and Uncheck and Recheck Auto-rotate Screen, Make sure Auto-rotate is enabled in your Notifications Area. I had this bug in very Galaxy S phone so far, guess its Android's way of saying Root!

How does rooting solve this issue?
I have a similar issue but it rotates when I place the phone down to a flat desk or surface.
i'm on Monxdified rom previously & rooted ..
the issue still persists ... so root wont solve the issue
That confirms it is indeed, an Android bug, nothing you can do about it unless you e-mail Samsung and Google.
What bug is this? I haven't had it, or haven't noticed it yet. I use smart stay, but not smart rotation. How can I reproduce this bug?

My GT - N7105 (i like to add the preceding GT thinghy lol)
I don't think is a Android problem of all my different android devices this is the one giving me trouble
is nothing to do with root, my phone is rooted and im using this [GT-N7105]N7105XXDLL4 deodexed Rom V1.1 [4.1.2]
I was not sure if is a problem of the ROM itself or in general that way i put in there.. is anyone having that trouble?
thanks
Hey guys!
I have exactly the same problem with my N7100 running the N7100XXDMC3. The issue came up the day after I bought my phone. I've rooted it, flashed the last firmware and did a format system and wipe cache, data foactory and dalvik cache. The bug still persists.
I've written an email to Samsung they told me to do the update and wipe the datas (What I've already done). They told me if the bug is still present to bring the phone back.
Have you resolved the bug ? Please help me because it's very annoying :/
Mine does the same and I have exhanged one unit because of it and still happens its weird wished samsung would fix it. Only seems to happen when I watch a video for long period of times. Dont have smart rotation enabled either
I've got the solution ! Well it's not the solution but a solution. Download the app rotation lock adaptive. It fixes the bug and even allows to get a total rotation. I bought the app to thank the developer but a free version also exists.
Auto rotation

Reset the phone always works...and so does reboot the phone...the bug returns in a few days. am on the most recent ME1 update for the N7100 but the issue persists...its not an issue with the launcher, root orkernel related...I tried all the combinations ...
I noticed this after updating to 4.1.2.
Looking around the web this update seems to be the culprit. Mine gets stuck in landscape mode every two days or so, however launching the stock dialer fix the issue.

I have had the same problem on my N7105 since the 4.1.2 android update.
I realised that the bug occurs only when brightness is set to manual.
I did the following to fix it:
1. I installed Velis Auto Brightness app
2. I run the app setup wizard with default options
3. I set the note 2 brightness to auto (this has no effect anyway because Velis override it)
4. I restarted the phone
5. I selected my preferred auto brightness profile through Velis
My phone's auto rotate now works perfectly!
I hope this works for you as well!
So most of us know about the System UI crash when using Chromecast, but this is even stranger. [Edit: an OTA update fixed this.] Some times, when I wake my phone up at the lockscreen or at times in the middle of a call - the touch screen stops responding. I can press and/or hold the volume buttons and there is a response on screen but I can not interact with the phone at that point. I can't continue to do battery pulls everytime. This is crazy. I'm on stock software. No crazy mods or anything. I've done a reset in the past and flashed the stock package again but this still happens every few hours. Only happens when the screen just wakes up...
Edit: This is a confirmed fix for me.
If you face the same issue, try:
open dialer
press 3845#* INSERT THREE DIGETS OF YOUR MODEL NUMBER THE PRESS #, for example, I am the F400K, so 3845#*400#
Hardware Device Test > Touch
update touch firmware
touch firmware version
wait 10 sec
reboot
I would say there is a misbehaving app causing the phone to lag in wake (that is all the unresponsiveness will be, extreme lag).

@Lennyuk - tried for over 30minutes after leaving it alone, I doubt it's a delay... Battery pulls work, but that's not the point.

That was not his point.....to Find the app that is causing it go one by one uninstalling until you find it.... Something probably to do with app and the screen

Totally agree with @Epix4G on this one. I am assuming you had a korean variant? The SK Telecom stock image is pretty ugly. Took me 3 debloat attempts before I had it behaving the way I wanted it to, but before I debloated, I had some lag issues (SK Telecom... grrrhhh).
Historically, Korean carriers (much like AT&T and Verizon) love putting useless junk on the phones for "productivity" but really they are there to charge Korean users more for other services, etc.
If you haven't done so, I would root and debloat, and see how big of a difference it makes (absolutely amazing performance after debloating on my F400S).
^^^^ - Will take that into consideration.
This may be a possible fix for now, can't yet confirm
open dialer
press 3845#* INSERT THREE DIGETS OF YOUR MODEL NUMBER THE PRESS #, for example, I am the F400K, so 3845#*400#
Hardware Device Test > Touch
update touch firmware
touch firmware version
wait 10 sec
reboot
It may or may not help
EDIT: It's been a few weeks and I haven't had this issue again. Usually every 4-6 hours it used to happen after powering on the screen, but so far so good.
Tried that with 855 version, it's not working. This is REALLY depressing as i just got a new phone and from day one i'm having this problem. I just can't believe LG screwed up like this, and there's no mention of this anywhere online other than this XDA thread. I hope i don't have to root and install custom rom as this really defeats the purpose of the phone.
@deedscreen
I'm having exactly the same problem on an 850 and tried your firmware method. The version number of the firmware did not change after reboot.
ic_fw_version info
SYnaptics 5.5
PanelType 1
version: v1.22
IC_product_id[PLG313]
Touch IC : s3528(family_id = 1, fw_rev = 1)
What version is your firmware? Also, did you find out about the fix from somewhere?
I have the F400K, but just got a US T-Mobile edition, (I'll eventually switch my signature). I would honestly suggest waiting for an OTA update. Call LG so they can document this. If that touchscreen update method doesn't work, I'm not sure what to do. I found the method somewhere online, I don't recall where exactly. If someone can figure out how to side load the touch screen firmware from a working Korean model to others, that would be great. For now, keep calling LG. It won't do much at first, but at least they'll have reports of this issue.
I have (RAW) touch screen firmware version: 30 05 51 96
Same problem, but not only on lock screen
Since 5 days I have my G3 (855 Modell). I was happy the first two days, then I discovered the problem, that the device is always unlocking itself, when in my front pocket. It's because of the Knock on feature. I deactivated this now.
But since yesterday i have the same issue: three times, i was unable to unlock my phone. The touchscreen simply did not respond. I had to remove battery. Today, I read this post and tried the firmware update of the touch, but I have the impression it did not change something in the version.
After this, today I had again once time the non responding touch while unlocking and shortly after, I had the issue after ending a phone call! The touch did no longer respond and had to remove the battery again!
I hope this is not a hardware issue, otherwise I will hurry up to the seller to exchange the phone, because its only 5 days old.
This is happening when the screen is on right? Or is the screen turning off and then not turning I again?
You need to keep Knock feature on, someone already said this. That's why your screen is freezing.

Upps, yes, I just read this message now. To late: I was in the shop now and got mine exchanged. Anyway, that issue with the knock on feature should be solved also by LG: it's not acceptable, that the phone is always unlocking in my pocket. But then I wait with deactivating knock on for the moment.
So bad: such a good phone and such an annoying bug

I sold mine after a few days, i was sick with it. I disabled the knock feature through the hidden menu only to have the screen freeze every day. What, i can't use the phone the way i like? I have to face the screen outwards in my pocket and risk damaging it? Screw that...
That, plus the overheating and horrible build quality (back got scratched in my pocket) was a deal breaker for me...

Yes, indeed i also think about it. I got an official statement from support, regarding that the phone is unlocking all the time by itself in my pocket. They told me stuff like:
- this is a normal behaviour and can happen (!!)
- don't put your phone in the front pocket
- use the quick circle case to prevent...
- disable knock on (which is at least not possible over a standard setting, but only via the hidden menu).
I wrote back:
- that for me, this is not a normal behaviour
- that 90% of male users are wearing the phone in the front pocket
- that I don't like to buy a case only to prevent a bug of a premium telephone and
- finally, that they please could tell me, where and how to disable knock on
I am curious about their answer...
Good luck with that, disabling it through the settings doesn't change anything and they probably won't have a fix for months. They'll probably fix it though Android L update which will sadly come 6 months from official release at least.
Next time i purchase an Android phone i'm going with Nexus line...

So what happened? How is it doing now?
Hey everyone, I just wanted to report my results of this touchscreen bug.
Well, I've only had my D851 for a week now. Of course I rooted it the same day I received it.
I had no touch issues until after restoring apps with Titanium Backup. I'd restore all user apps, then very few system app via XML. Since I just upgraded from a Galaxy S3 T999 I limited the system apps greatly. So much in fact that I only restored 1 system app......Media Storage 4.4.4 (Playlist). THAT WAS MY SCREEN KILLER!
The media scan on my D851 would render my screen unresponsive. I could only hold the power button and click power off or restart or whatever else was on that power menu. Then the phone would reboot after minutes of of a dead screen.
I flashed back to stock and reproduced the same issue. So now I've been running this device for 3 days without any screen lockups. I just have to rebuild my playlist again LOL.
I hope this helps someone here.
Knock
If you turn off the ability to wake by knocking the screen, it causes this issue where the screen locks. Turn it back on and the problem seems to go away.
I think LG really has to deal with this issue.
Hi guys, I have red a lot about this issue but I'm still confused with my LG G3 855.
First I realize problem with unlocking the phone using double click. Tried to upgrade touch software firmware using hidden menu and the screen became almost totally unresponsive. Tried to re-flash original 5.0 and 4.4.2, factory reset, battery removed, etc. but no luck.
I'm wonder if this is a software problem or became hardware. Should I consider replacing display or problem is in motherboard?
I really don't know what to do! Appreciate any comments or suggestions!!!
Thanks in advance!
I have ATT S3 and the home screen jumps back and forth very fast, Also when I touch the screen and scroll down or to the side its like im still touch the screen and I can see the phone basically touching itself. I have went through many threads about the same problem but never an answer to correct other than turn off harware overlay and that doesnt help.

I do know from reading many threads my kernel is a low number, was this issue fixed in a later build or is it a hardware problem? Any suggestions on what to do?
Its not a common issue so I dont believe your firmware would be the cause, unless something has been corrupted. Have you backed everything up? If so try factory resetting and maybe try flashing the stock rom from enewman17.

The symptoms you describe are those of a phone which has come in contact with water/moisture. There is no solution other than changing the LCD.
ok thanks
I have the same issue. Came to the same conclusion. However, the screen assembly moisture sensor is not tripped. Could just be a bad digitizer.
hello everyone , so i use to have this bug back to kitkat also but it wasn't happening as often as it doesnt now that i have lollipop rom installed on my galaxy tab s T705 , the issue is with touch key lights which stays on even when i have them always off from settings , they act super weird when they are in that mode , they go off few sec after screen is off and if i shake the device they go on again as it looks like they are connected to accelerator sensor or something lolz ,the solution is super easy tho just hit the power saving on and then off again and they work normally again i heard some other ppl dealing with same issue but i wanted to know if there is a perma solution for it or not , im sure its a software issue but is there a way to fix it ?
Install a custom rom like cyanogen or something stock based.
I have the same problem. I usually have it set to turn the lights off after 6 seconds, but after a couple of days they don't work anymore. I would change the setting to off, then on, then back to 6 seconds, and it'll work again. After a few more days, they stop. I haven't seen a permanent fix for this.

Same for me. Would usually opt to have the buttons backlight always off, but randomly it starts actin like always on, although the settings remains 'always off'. Toggling the setting to anything else and back to always off fixes the problem temporeraly.
Im running stock swiss lollipop on my t700.
Yes, this is driving me nuts too! I hope they resolve this in the next update and soon!

Same problem with the lights on after a while even though set to always off. Seems to work properly under 1.5 sec setting option. I would love for the lights to be always off though.

Me too have the touch key settings to always off and found the same problem.
In my case I think it only happens when I plug the Tablet to AC.
Did this happen to anyone under another circumstances?

I have the same problem as everyone else, which I am very "happy" to hear because I am not the only one apparently dealing with it. I purchased the tablet a couple weeks ago and noticed that even though the setting for the touch key backlight is "always off", it goes on when I open the case, and sometimes goes on and off and goes weird. I contacted Samsung and they requested that I send in the tablet for repairs, so I did. At the same time, I contacted Amazon and they sent me another Tab S tablet. I have a month to return the other one so I figured I'll try this second one and see if I continue to have the same issues like the first one. Sure enough, I had the second tablet for less than a day and it's doing the exact same thing! So far the 1.5 second setting seems to keep the darn lights off. Sometimes doing a soft reset will fix the issue temporarily, but not permanently. If anyone figures out how to fix this, let us know! I'll be following this thread. I hope there's a software update to fix this.

I believe this is a software bug so all tab s running the 5.0.2 lollipop will have this issue.
And to reply to the other poster: The problem will occur after a while, the lights will just turn on and stay on when you wake the tablet. Changing the setting and choose Always Off will fix it but it will come back after a while.

I heard that there's a new update available for the Tab S. (I already returned my tablet before my 30 days to get a full refund.) Did any one get the new update, and if so, did it fix the issues like this touch key light?
Hey,
I had this problem on the original KK software - upgraded to Lollipop a few days back and I still have the bug... in fact, it is even worse! Occurs more frequently than on LP.
I wouldn't mind leaving the lights on all the time, but they're so damn BRIGHT, and there's no way to adjust the backlight intensity!
Cheers,
Su
I found this solution on another forum...
If you enable smart stay, the touch key light duration will work properly.
Any further movement on this?. I've found that if I take my tab out of the book case the problem goes away. Seems like it's a bug with the case sensor.
No movement that I'm aware of. I'm really frustrated that there hasn't been a fix after all this time. I'm holding out hope that if there is ever an update to Marshmallow, that the issue will go away. Interesting observation about the case -I have a book case on mine. I'll remove it and see what happens...
