why my note 8.0 is not charging while it`s switched on , every time I need to charge it I have to switch it off > is this normal behavior or am I facing a serious problem? . it recognizes the charger as media storage

Are you using the same cable that came with it as well? Some cables can be data only, not power. I've had issues with other cables not drawing the same power from my wall charger as the one that came with my tablet. Some one else raised this issue a week or so ago. There were apps suggested in that post that could tell you the power draw the tablet was getting from the power source it was connected to. Cant remember it off hand though

sounds like your phone thinks its charging from a usb and not ac when its charging from the mains open settings > power
under battery status it will say either not charging, charging (usb) or charging (AC).
if its saying usb then there is something wrong with the cable thats stopping it from showing s an AC adapter.

Have you tried a different adapter?
The cables could be fine, but your adapter/plug is defected.
Also, do as treebill said. Try checking in which mode (USB/AC/Not charging) your phone is recognizing as being charged.

I have exactly the same problem, I'm using official usb cable and adapter. I had tried other cables and adapters but same thing. My One X is not unlocked or rooted, and I'm with the last official rom 2.17.401.2 but it was happened and with previous rom 1.27.401.11. Even with switch off phone charging is very slow I try to restore my phone but nothing at all. Sometimes it's charge like it should but most of the time it's slow. Any suggestions or I have to go straight to repair center?

Are you REALLY sure your chargers aren't messed up?
I f**ed up the charger given with my One X(details below) and after that, my charger would only give me usb power instead of ac. I've been using this charger bundled with my Samsung P2 mp3 player that I got 4 years back.
We had gone on a trip where the room's fan rotation knob was missing, so the only thing I saw fit to change fan speed was fitting that tiny pin from the fan regulator in my AC Adapters usb port, which messed it up. Retarded I know, story of my life... -_-
Hey there, I faced the same problem. Having a blackberry Bold3, I tried recharging my OneX with the charger that came with it. BB charger charges my OneX WAY FASTER than the HTC charger that came with the phone. (1hour max for full charge) And battery holds an entire day too.

If you haven't rooted nor unlocked, and your phone was charging perfectly before, then I don't think it's a software issue.
It's either your charger or cable. If you have tried a different charger/cable that works well with other phones, then I guess you need to have your phone looked at.

I bought my GNII a week ago and phone is awesome!
The only problem is it takes soooooooooo long to charge. I didn't assume that something was wrong yet since it is new. After charging for the third time and it's still slow, I searched for answers but came back empty. So I'm here hoping somebody could help at least so that I could do everything on my end before contacting my provider.
Here are some information:
1. Charger that I am using is the stock charger that came along with the phone. USB cable and Original Charger.
2. Phone is not rooted.
3. When I plug it using the wall charger (USB cable + Original Charger) it is being detected as USB instead of AC.
Hope somebody could help.

No there aren't , the problem is with the defective 4 pin usb cable bundeld with few of our sets actually we need to have 5 pin cables for proper charging , had exactly the same problem with my s3 puechased a HTC usb cable after that my problem was gone for good.

Yep the one packed with it is usb3 which is a bit faster. The other one is usb2 which is a bit slower.

Hi! Some breakthrough. I charged my phone at the office using the wall charger and plugging it to a UPS and VIOLA!! It charged as AC!! Could you (or anybody) know why?

That kernel will charge at 900mA by default over a normal usb connection.
I flashed it rather that the sock kernel just for that reason, plus for me it gives improved battery life etc over the stock kernel. You can overclock also but I have no desire to do that with the Note 2 as its pleanty fast enough already.
Does anyone know off a kernel that actually has usb fast charging enabled in it ?

Are you using the stock charger with the stock USB cable? My note 2 was charging really slow until I realized that the USB extension cable I was using wasn't delivering enough juice.

Do you have another 2A charger/USB cable that you can test from? I use an HP Touchpad charger + cable because its 2A and has a long cable.
I just happen to experience the same thing. I have had my Note II for a couple of weeks now and it have always charged from almost empty to full in less than 2,5 hours. Today however, it's going really slow. I do not know why. I've tried everything I can think of. I juse only the stock charger. Also tried the Ipad charger - no luck. This seem to be a quite common problem.

I found a huge variance in charging rates based on a combination of chargers and cables. Goes to show that the cable makes a huge difference. Here's my findings:
** Stock Charger (2A):
w/Stock Cable (4-pin) - 1698
w/Cable from another phone (5-pin) - 1698
w/Cable from battery pack (5-pin)- 1698
w/generic eBay cable (4-pin)- 100! - It didn't charge at all, even with screen off.
** iPhone Charger (1A):
w/Stock Cable (4-pin) - 1300
w/Cable from another phone (5-pin) - 1100
w/Cable from battery pack (5-pin) - 1300
w/generic eBay cable (4-pin) - 100!
** Car Charger (1A):
w/another generic eBay cable - 490
So I just got this phone today from ebay and it doesn't come with the original charger , I have phew cables from my old lg and others phone which using the same port , the thing is when I try to charge it , I plugged in and ithe screen will not turn off , I tried to press the power button but a few seccond it turned itself back on, it just keep doing it somethings it even changed to dock mode and then disconnect even though it still plug in , HElP , what do I do now ?

Maybe LG uses somekind of a different port. I know it fits but it can be something different. Just buy a cable of eBay. They're really cheap.

When I use the cable usbc in the box, impossible to have fast charging anymore.
But when i use the cable of my s7 + the adaptator of the s9 => no problem.
It's the cable, I presume? Have you notice a problem with yours?

Mine fast charges but it never hits 9volts only 7.5v
I have tried 2 chargers (provided by Samsung) for my S9 Plus and Im still not getting a fast charge. It take around 3-4 hours to charge my phone and that usually when I am starting out around 20%. Has anyone else had this issue? I'm wondering if I have a bad phone. I cant imagine 2 chargers being bad.
It seems that you've answered your own question. I have a ton of usbb cables so I just got a pack of adapters and been using it and getting fast charging since.
you need to go for samsung warranty in your city, or to go where you purchase your mobile, to replace your cable or to replace your mobile or to fix your problem, may the problem in connector of the phone, or need software.

If I turn on fast charge it takes of 10mins calculated time to full charge, is that it ? Is that all we get for fast charge a decrease of 10mins?
I have a Strange Issue. When i connect Samsung Original Charger And cable....Sometimes its shows Fast Charging....But my battery discharge. While Showing Fast Charging there is no time to full notification not shown. when the message shown chaging works perfectly. It looks like a Software issue
