While surfing a bit, suddenly the screen went black.
Pressung buttons, no reaction
Pulled the battery, tried to start, just a short flash of vague green, dead. No reaction to charging.
Pressing vol min - pwr - home makes the vague green permanent until battery is removed
See pic (taken in the dark without flash)
Never rooted. 4.1.2 latest XSE.
Last two official roms flashed with Odin.
Suggestions?

If by "Sudden death syndrome" you mean the well-known eMMC bug, then I'm not so sure, even though it looks a lot like it.
The latest firmware should be safe. The phone may crash but it shouldn't brick.
Did you have 64Gb SD Card inside?

The last resort:
- remove battery, SIM, SD
- press and hold 'power' button for 30+ seconds
- forget about the phone for on hour
- try to insert the battery only and boot...
Didn't help, thanks for the suggestion....

Well, new motherboard, same IMEI, free.
Just before warranty ended.
After some some time with the S2 things are readable again

Me too. I think it's normal. No need to worry.
Same here, get the SD Card inserted on start-up from power down.
Guess it's normal
Hi guys. Thanks for helping me get my note 2 up again. Now a problem that had been with my phone for a long time; the phone goes off by itself, even when it's on top of a desk untouched. Sometimes it goes off when it's charging and someone's when it's in my pocket.
I have to press the start button for like ten seconds to boot it; otherwise I remove the battery and replace it then press the start button like normal.
I tried flashing new factory roms to no avail; problem persists.
Other thanthis issuethe phoneworks verywell. What can I do to get this phone to work properly?
Thanks guys.

Maybe but I have no idea. How could one solve this problem if it happens to be the one?

From your description it can't be a simple loosened battery, I think its hardware related since flashing new roms dousnt work. You still have warranty?
Sent from my GT-N7100 using xda app-developers app
Nope. .. no warranty here.

It's probably the power button. S2s have a problem with the button getting stuck internally. The button feels and functions like its fine but inside its not. I've had customers tell me they YouTubed on how to fix. Or if the device is under warranty still exchange it. Hope this helps.

Take out the battery and put it back in. If it tries to power on by itself you have a faulty power button.

Cool! If it begins to happen again, Odin flash the firmware and factory reset. If its software related this should take care of it.
Thanks, I will let u know what happens
