I install battery and phone just vibrates, doesn't turn on

It's probably the power button. S2s have a problem with the button getting stuck internally. The button feels and functions like its fine but inside its not. I've had customers tell me they YouTubed on how to fix. Or if the device is under warranty still exchange it. Hope this helps.

Hi guys. Thanks for helping me get my note 2 up again. Now a problem that had been with my phone for a long time; the phone goes off by itself, even when it's on top of a desk untouched. Sometimes it goes off when it's charging and someone's when it's in my pocket.
I have to press the start button for like ten seconds to boot it; otherwise I remove the battery and replace it then press the start button like normal.
I tried flashing new factory roms to no avail; problem persists.
Other thanthis issuethe phoneworks verywell. What can I do to get this phone to work properly?
Thanks guys.

Maybe but I have no idea. How could one solve this problem if it happens to be the one?

From your description it can't be a simple loosened battery, I think its hardware related since flashing new roms dousnt work. You still have warranty?

Nope. .. no warranty here.

I was wondering if anyone else has had an issue with the menu and back button not registering touch sometimes? My menu button does it more than the back button. Sometimes I have to restart the phone to get it to start working again or hit the home button and then it works. Anyone else have this issue?

So menu button doesn't work like 90% of the time anymore... Defective device or software issue? I'm running stock ROM btw and rooted

ummm i'm not sure if you guys are aware but there is a option in the setting that vibrates the phone if you have any new/incoming notifications while the screen is off, that way you dont have to turn the screen on if u dont feel the vibration... but if you do feel a vibration that means you have a new notification, excuse me if you guys were already aware of this future.
I am not getting a notification at all it just vibrates and there is nothing happening at all. No notification at all.

I used to have that problem on my s3... Not as frequent but it would beep too and I think it was an app running in the background. ..

My phone does this as well. I thought it was a feature that I hadn't turned off
Sent from my SM-N900T using xda app-developers app
I'd also like to add that it doesn't have to be vibrating. It only ever vibrated when my phone was in vibrate mode. however if you turn the volume up, it would make a da da sound like a notification.

This is a stock N7. Holding down the power and volume up/down buttons, no matter how long results in... nothing. Also tried it with power and volume down buttons only with the same result. There are no other apparent problems with this device. Bad hardware, or is there something else I should try?

Sometimes you need to quick tap the volume down it happened to me. Do you want to root it ?
Sent from my Nexus 7 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Not yet. I was setting up for sideloading 4.4. I usually don't root until later in the device's life cycle. Thanks for the tip. I'll give it a try.

Rootnoob 101's tip worked. The button action and response on the N7 is much different than an N4

You are welcome mrw333
Okay so I was using my phone and it suddenly turned off and when I attempted to turn it back on it would show me the galaxy s4 screen and turn off right away. Does anyone know why this is happening? Every time I try turning it on it does that. I tried booting into recovery and no go idk what else to do. Any help is appreciated.
Have you tried a battery pull? Then some charging.

Thanks everyone for all your help @TheSickness was correct I'm debating if I should upgrade to an s5.
Sent from my GT-I9505 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
The S5 finger print is a major target for hackers to steal your identity. Just saying, if you upgrade, make sure you don't goof up. I'm almost afraid to upgrade to the S5, been thinking of getting a note again. But really IDK. Maybe I'll keep my S4 and get a tablet or a kindle. Something to do my desktop website development work on.
