Infamous S4 V4.0 has Wi-Fi calling
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=44698199

Off the top of me head: Wicked v5.1, Darthstalker v4, Death Star, WarpDrive, Stock MDL by 2 different devs Mr V and evil, Project Goosh, basically anything based off MDL firmware.
edited: all TW roms DO NOT have wifi calling

Really?
Touchwiz roms have it. Non touchwiz roms don't. There you go.

Yeah, no.
MDL based ROMS do. Other TW ROMS do NOT (Infamous yes, Alpha no. Both are TW)

Very good call I'll edit my post. Forgot about all the TW international/MGA/etc... roms that do not have wifi calling but are clearly TW. Could even go one step further and say the GE roms....they use the TW framework/kernel yet do not feature wifi calling. Thanks for pointing this out and making a pertinent post

WiFi calling is a T-Mobile only feature so if the ROM is not base of T-Mobile/TW its natural that it doesn't have Wi-Fi calling. Alpha is not base off T-Mobile ROM
☞Sent from here☜

Thanks, lojak29. Although I have no doubt the ROMs without wi-fi calling are otherwise outstanding and in some respects probably superior to the stock-based ROMs, this is a feature I simply cannot do without. Along with the somewhat lower price for TM service, wi-fi calling is what keeps me from considering switching to another carrier. Perhaps the devs could add "WFC" or something similar to the tagline when they post new ROMs?

Must say this is a pointless thread.... No offense... Tmobile firmwares have it. That's it. Lol

I believe that it what I said...?

You guys are mental. .. its as if you seek out threads to make them into something there not...something other than the natural point and context. ..to just have some egoe boost...
Leave it for what it is not what you want it to be...
Its SIMPLY a source/quick glance guide to a rom or roms that have wifi calling. ..yes this was a freebee giveaway thread for noobs or whomever to take a peek and get a answer.
Not to tell people to go do the work on there own...
Dont like it dont ad comments to it.

Devs usually do ad wifi calling in a change log, this post is nothing more or less than an immediate at a glance (source) for whomever to pick a rom with wifi calling.. others seem to find it fit to say screw the generosity and lets just make it hard and search every rom change log for such a feature that is Heavily asked upon.People wether most care or not Really use the dang wifi calling alot infact...and its always asked everywhere. . So by being helpful with the topic it would be easy to look in thread and know instantly what roms have it.. and even some people know its in stock tmo roms, but they dont always know if a dev added or removed it in a particular rom one may have in mind... hence why they now can look Into the thread for a fast answer.
Thanks for agreeing with me btw.

I have had this phone for a couple days and have tried every rom in the dev section, when nothing is extraordinary from stock.

Besides, the roms we have are awesome and are constantly developed and improved.
We have some fantastic devs here!
Not sure what you're looking for op, but a good deal of the mods I can think of are already incorporated into many of the roms.

I can kinda see where the OP is coming from. On the G2X forums the stock roms were very very customized. These are all "tweaked" stock roms with little difference between the many... based off different bases, and have "build prop" tweaks and "init.d" tweaks, animations and so on. The att section has truly optimized and custom stock roms.
I don't mean to sound like I'm complaining cause I use aokp and cm10 mostly. But it'd be nice to have the extremely custom stock options like att users got.

With JellyBean around the corner, it will kinda slim for awhile, like the above post, all are stable that are there, and well maintained. I agree good devs here....

You and I both know a ton of customization was required to make the G2x usable. That is not the case with the GS3.

True. I'm also coming from the G2x and even tho we did I tend to stay closer to stock because I actually like tw. I will occasionally flash cm nightly just for ****s and giggles.

I don't mean customization for stability. I mean like whitehawkX edt tweaks and such. ATT roms have skipping tracks via long press on volume rocker and such. We have good stuff but it'd be awesome to have more options then different color stock roms. Most of the stuff I want is flashable any ways. Just a little rant... I'm just happy this thing is stable no matter what haha.

I wasn't trying to complain a lot. It was mainly what the above poster said. Just not a lot of variety like some phones have. Don't get me wrong, we have some of the best devs on the sgs3. I just like more options though
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda app-developers app
In my opinion OP Android is maturing and the devices are much more usable than they once were with now just minor annoyances now.. There will be more development soon but the GS3 is enjoyable stock with tweaks for now... Such was the case with the OG Vibrant when Team Whiskey and Eugene tweaked and enhanced stock Twiz and the dev scene for that device took off and is still prevalent with the Vibrant being one of the first devices to run a stable JB... As a matter of fact because of devices like the Vibrant we have many of the staple dev names we see amongst many threads amongst many forums and for several devices including this one, for example Whitehawkx, Annex and others..
Stay tuned as I suspect it is going to be fun..
Those devs aren't focusing on TW at all. They have cm10 and variants to do and kernels to work on. Things are especially going to die down for a little with JellyBeen coming around the corner.

If you want features of an AT&T ROM flash an AT&T ROM.. what's stopping you? They work fine if you set up the APNs correctly. I mean look at the i9100 forums. There's so many ROMs there but all of the touchwiz ROMs differ in what, a few build.prop lines and a theme? I'm not trying to attack you I just am not understanding what exactly you or OP are asking for. I understand some features aren't in our ROMs but like I said, flash an AT&T one if you want that feature. Or flash CM10, we have that feature

You said you mostly use CM10/AOKP but you won't flash an AT&T ROM because of no WiFi calling? You can set up WiFi calling on any ROM you want. I do it on CM10. Sure it is roundabout and not T-Mobile WiFi calling but it's still free and still WiFi calling.

Good answer. Seriously. All of the stocks only differ by a color here and a icon there. Running the Cm10 nightlies, and seeing the new additions and fixes is what I'm impressed with. I am sure soon, we will see more roms being done with the cm10 base and others. My daily, is CM10 period. Seen enough of the stock stuff. HTC MyTouch took awhile, but was flooded later with some good roms.

So if I were to move away from Twiz, and try say PACman rom, could I still get the WIFI calling app? I kinda need it while at home because I get little service and it's the main reason I switched to TMO

So any rom with Twiz?
Darn, kind of a shame. Is it in the framework or something? No way to port it over??? I know it's early since the release, but Would you know of a JB based Twiz rom that's debloated and running stable/fast? I'm still getting used to all the new ROM options. (Back in my EVO days we only had Sense and AOSP.)

Sent from my SGH-T989 using xda premium
Think so. It's as fast or faster with aggressive memory mgmt going on. Very smooth jb4.1.2 rom. Which was the last rom tmo included wifi-calling in.
As far as I've been able to find out, tmo has used two different implementations of wifi-calling. The first was a spaghetti code type of deal that still drives developers nuts; the second was a very good modularized implementation done by a very knowledgeable contractor based on open source code.
By the time the contract was up, the developer had developed the code so far beyond the available open source code, they felt justified in charging for it's use and further development. TMo balked at this saying they're not making enough money to justify that.
So, the current situation is that the nice modular code cannot be further developed without royalties and the spaghetti code is something that developers aren't willing to deal with.
Mind you, all this is off the top of my memory from internet searching on the topic. I'm sure I've got some of the details wrong; but, that should give you the gist of the situation.
If you search the Whitehawxx (WH) jb-aokp thread for: wifi-calling; you'll find his position on the matter. In case you or any one else is reading this post don't know, WH is a well respected, knowlegeable, dilligent developer whom we're lucky to have working on hercules. His opinion is highly regarded by many.
YMMV, good luck to you sir. :cyclops:

[Q] ROMs with integrated wifi calling

Hi,
I heard that tmobile based roms can have integrated wifi calling. Is there a technical name in the feature lists i'm looking for? I can't seem to find one ..
Can anyone recommend me 1 or 2 roms to choose from that support integrated wifi calling? To compare my taste, I'm a fan of Hyperdrive rom at the moment I love touchwiz/aosp combos with s4 themes.
my signature, there is a list in there click and read the threads and look at the images they offer in their OP.
S3Rx 1.5
Dandroid
z999
Those are very good ROMs. All the devs did great work on all of them. There may be others that support wifi calling but these three are a few I think you will like
They are all in this section >> http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1645
Or my signature which has them labeled in my ROM guide... Lol

Just an fyi that any touchwiz based rom that is actually based off of the T-mobile framework has the Wifi calling integrated. Hyperdriive is actually a port from i believe at&t and therefor does not. Try most of the other ones and they do.In my opionion i think the best one right now is S3RX.

Yea, the reason why WIFI calling is only exclusive to T-mobile phones is because it goes directly into the T-mobile cell towers. That is also the reason of why the WIFI calling does use up your minutes (if not unlimited) as well. It will not work on any other network other than T-mobile.

Note that current versions of Dandroid include S3Rx in the caption. Danvdh writes that he "based Dandroid off of [S3Rx]"; and he and enewman17 may include Dandroid as a theme in the Aroma installer for S3Rx "for those who want [Danvdh's] awesome theme but want a full 'bloated' TW ROM."

I wish ppl would stop saying this as if it can't be done. I had WiFi calling on my aosp my touch 4g and sgs2... Its just harder now. As we speak there is a dev who has broke down over 20k lines of code and almost has it working (just needs to finish tweaking the framework) on an aosp ROM. It can be done... Just need the right dev.

No one say it can't be done and yes there's peoples trying very hard to get it done. The older phone was much easier as it was an app. Now it's cooked into the framework, spread out ask over the place. Till then however the answer is still the same. Only tmobile base ROM will have Wi-Fi calling.
HTC One guys got it working so it's just a matter of times. Plus that bounty is pretty big.

[Q] WiFi Calling Port for CM Based ROMs?

I may be way off base, but I just upgraded to a new 4.4.2 CM based ROM and the dev believes WiFi Calling is exclusive to Samsung. I am under the impression it is exclusive to T-Mobile firmware. Does that even make a difference?
And can WiFi Calling be integrated into CM based ROMs?

Thank you for the reply.
Now, I guess the question is why can't the WiFi calling script be implemented into an AOSP source?
Is it a matter of no dev feeling the motivation? It looks like the WiFi calling SDK is available...

Sent from my SM-N900T using xda app-developers app
WiFi Calling is something integrated deep into the OS. The SDK likely is for allowing apps to work with that closed source OS system, not to duplicate it. It would have to be completely reverse engineered by studying network packets generated by the phone during WiFi calling, figure out the protocol and any encryption used, find any encryption keys needed, and rewrite everything from scratch based around those findings. Not an easy task, and for the most part it's of fairly low reward to most users as normal calling works fine. That said I was reading a discussion recently on /r/linux about the Antrax kernels (forget what device it was for) and the developer witholding source code (which is illegal under the GPL if you distribute binaries). It looked like one of the sources that might be witheld is an open source WiFi calling implementation.
http://phoronix.com/forums/showthread.php?93124-AnthraX-Linux-Kernels-Remain-Closed-Source&p=385801
If he really does have WiFi calling working at the kernel level then we should be pressuring whoever is entitled to make him release code to do so. By the nature of the GPL license anything at all that goes into a kernel binary released to the public MUST be released under the same license (GPLv2) and thus those people who received the binary are entitled to his source code which they can then redistribute.
Wow. Really good info. Thank you for sharing.
I do happen to be in the minority group that has shoddy coverage, so wifi calling is a godsend.
It's unfortunate firms like the one discussed in that post don't have to be 'resolved' quickly, given the volatile responses. Either make them share it asap, or figure out the price points and let everyone know how the game is going to be played...
Here's to hoping a dev feels compelled to go through all the hard work you mentioned nonetheless. Cheers!

My wife has an LG optimus l9 (I think that's what it is anyway) with wifi calling - it's a T-Mobile-variant phone thing more than a particular android skin (TW, Sense, ...whatever LG calls its thing..., etc.).
Isn't wifi calling just on t mobile regardless of the phone
Sent from my SM-N900T using Tapatalk
WiFi calling is on many T-mo phones, but not all and it's not only Samsung and it doesn't have to be smart phone either. My father has it on some older flip phone, not sure what it is running but I'm sure it's not touch wiz, probably not even Android. I think even some old Nokias had it under Symbian?

In reference to the Note 3 it is only Touchwiz.

Is it fair to assume that if a developer's ROM is TW-based, Wifi calling is implemented as 'standard', or would the developer need to specifically build it in?
I'm curious because I see TW-based ROMs for the Note 3 that don't say anything about Wifi calling as a feature.

It has to be both TW-based AND TMo(carrier)-based (meaning the international TW bases won't have the native Wifi Calling feature).
