Okay. I'm not new to android by any stretch of imagination but I am new to this phone. I just received the samsung galaxy s2 epic 4g touch on virgin mobile (SPH-D710vmub) running 4.1.2 out of the box and I was wondering what the full steps are to get FI27 or whatever the newest/best ics modem would be, best root method, best recovery, and I want to flash DU AOKP and not have any fears of bricking through the process. Can anyone help? I would greatly appreciate it

Hello there,
I just to picked up the galaxy s 2 on virgin mobile. I'm running an ICS modem. I simply flashed the modem (zip file) in cwm. I'm running the revolt ROM with a ICS modem. I flashed the wrong modem before and my data was gone. I also made a nandroid backup but when I went to restore it failed. If your going to run the stock ROM I would flash a ICS modem. It worked for me and now I have great 3g speeds in my area. Hope this helps

Hey guys,
This is my first post in the Dinc forums, so please don't be too mean
So I flashed Abduction 1.81 to my friend's phone, and he isn't too satisfied with it and would like to go back to GB. I'm very familiar with flashing roms, and kernels and what not.
I know with my phone (Galaxy S II, Epic 4g Touch) we need to odin back to stock GB and stock GB kernel. Is the process the same with the Dinc? Or am I good to flash it back in CWM?
I searched all over for anything over this and didn't find any information.
Any help is appreciated, thanks in advance!

Tell him he's crazy for not wanting ICS
j/k
Just wipe and flash in CWM and flash the GB ROM of choice. Probably whatever ROM he was using before would be best.
You will be fine to just boot into CWM, wipe, and flash . No other steps are necessary.

[brownnose]Thanks a lot! Also, I love your kernels, you do very good work. [/brownnose]
Just as a follow up in case anyone searches this in the future: I was able to go from ics to gb through cwm no problem!

Yeah, I personally loved it, but he missed sense too much.
Autocorrected by my Epic 4g Touch.
I just rooted my fiance's epic 4g/samsung galaxy s2 with Odin (she was/is on FJ12 firmware) and after rooting, I am just wondering how I would go about flashing a new rom onto it. Is it safe to use android recovery to flash a rom with CWM? Just wondering where to go from here. Rooted 3 devices and flashed them but they usually came with CWM. Not sure about android recovery

FJ12 is virgin mobile.
I have no idea if flashing roms for you will be same as flashing for sprint. I have steps listed here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1953783 but thats keeping sprint in mind.
Well, I got my rooting from here. Doesn't say anything about flashing a new rom onto it though. :\

Same H/W (just like my MVNO) - just different settings.
Flash as if it's Sprint but keep in mind that MMS will break until you manually correct and things will show as Sprint, not Virgin. Not sure if 4G will need the realm changed or not...
Hello guys. Okay I got my phone back from the shop that flash my phone to Cricket network. I had Jelly bean OTA but the shop said they have to downgrade the os to flash the phone to cricket to get some sort of code then they are able to upgrade to Jellybean well they couldn't upgrade to Jellybean for some reason it wont accept it. Well... I can do it but the problem is I'll loose the settings of the cricket. What would I have to do to put back the settings or can i do a back up of settings then restore it when i have jelly bean on it? What is the easy way? I'm noob. TY
I'm assuming it should be the same as getting it flashed to metro. I have a Sprint flashed S2 phone on metro (had GB) . When Sprint released an OTA for ICS, I received it. But unable to upgrade, I'm assuming because...duh, I'm not on Sprint (Sprint phone). Now you can flash a rom to upgrade. I flashed a stock 4.0.4 TW FI27 with data restored. For that, look into finding either Clockwork Mod or Agat ... For what I read, you can flash a custom JB rom, but unsure if mms is working... Good luck.

My sprint s2 is running custom rom on cricket and everything is working, took a total of 5 files, one to root phone, cwm , cm10.1, gapps and last but not least cricket settings. The last file is in one of the other forums.

Would be good if you link me directly what works for you. I'm new to this cricket thing. My phone ran so good with Jelly Bean now it's on ICS because the person who flash it couldn't get it flash to Jelly Bean. Eh I think I can flash Jelly Bean without problem but settings of cricket is what I'm worried. I paid 65 bucks for flashing plus 80 for month and activation. Not good.
You need to flash your phone back to cricket, if you Google that there are videos etc that can assist you in doing this so the flash sticks unlike what you have currently.
Here is the cricket fixes

Google "one click root for sprint galaxy s2" and that will point you in the right direction for rooting
Google "installing cmw bootloader for sprint galaxy s2"to get the bootloader

I apparently have not been keeping up, because I only found out today that LTE has actually be released for the note 2 on t-mo. I was on a ROM which was the international version of 4.1.1. I restored a backup of the stock version, but it's rooted with CWM recovery and it won't let me take system updates because it says I have modified software.
I have been looking at how to restore the phone to 100% stock, but there are no clear guides on how to do so.
Is it just software that I need to update for LTE? AKA can I just flash a rom that supports LTE and it works, or is it a radio update? I have no idea how I'm supposed to go about doing this. Please, someone instruct me in the easiest way to both get LTE and possibly a Samsung 4.1.2 update. I want touchwiz as it is, not with any UI changes. I don't care in the slightest if I don't get to keep any of my current data. If I have a simple way to revert to absolute stock, I'll take it.
Really appreciate an help any of you can offer.

Hi everyone, I'm new to posting on the forums but i am very familiar with some of devices that i work on. i like to mess around with phones and learn new ways to help people out. I had a friend come to me with a Gs3 on 4.1.2 and he wanted the device upgraded to 4.3 so he could use the new features such as the multi window. The device was rooted so i downloaded the rooted 4.3 rom and flashed it via TWRP recovery. The process was flawless other than when the device booted, i do not receive any signal from his carrier and cannot enable WiFi or mobile data.
Anyone think they could help me fix the problem? Thank you!
Are you on the mk3 modem?

No, I believe it updated but I'll have to check when I receive the device again. If so what would I want to do from there? Look for the older modem and flash through Odin or something similar?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I317 using xda premium
You need to flash the modem separately from the rom. That might be your problem, older modems don't seem to work well with mk3.
