[Q] Paranoid Android Question - AT&T, Rogers, Bell, Telus Samsung Galaxy S III

Sorry if this has been asked before. I searched but couldn't find an answer to this so I decided to ask here. In Paranoid Android, there's always a glitchy line right under the status bar. For example, if I open Chrome Browser, there is a white line right under the status bar. I would attach screenshots but I'm using Cyanogenmod because I couldn't stand that tiny annoyance on Paranoid Android. Is there a fix for that because I really love the Paranoid Android 3.69 rom but I can't go back if that problem still persists on the latest 3.96 build.
Additional info: I set the Paranoid Android settings to phone and I remove the navigation bar on the rom as I have no use for it because of the capacitive touch keys and hardware home button. I set the Paranoid Android settings to phone

[Q] Globaly force the in-app menu button when the nav bar is hidden?

So I have FINALLY created a account on xda because after searching and searching I could not find a way to GLOBALLY force the UI menu button in apps when the navigation bar is hidden.
I have been using a setup with GMD Gesture Control while hiding the nav bar, and it really does give me a lot of new screen real estate.
(BTW I am running a GSM Galaxy Nexus with JBSourcery (android 4.1.2))
Here are some pictures for example:

I am not entirely sure if your build has this, but there is an option in some ROMs that allows for this. Menu UI Overflow is generally what I have seen it called.
It looks like it should be in their newest offerings ( https://github.com/TeamSourcery/frameworks_base/commit/1477d1acc1303174aa1c23d28d64fb36d4268742 )

Does this mean I must update it to their 4.2.1 version?
I have used 4.2.1 in the past and Bluetooth was extremely screwed up, like with sixaxis controller. that is the only reason I downgraded.
This was available in some 4.1 ROMs too, AOKP had it for sure ( http://gerrit.sudoservers.com/#/c/3746/ ), so I would imagine Sourcery would have it too since they use quite a bit of AOKP in their builds. I would recommend looking through your options again.

The option should be there if you are on a build that included it. I looked through Sourcery's Github and found the commit on October 6th ( https://github.com/TeamSourcery/MagicControl/commit/468a14e024811db51c2d8f75b79685a3e53bb158 )
From that it looks like it will be in the misc menu of Magic Control between statusbar notification count and volume settings . I could be reading it wrong though.

android 4.4 builds

I installed android 4.4 from this site.
http://www.ibtimes.co.uk/articles/5...-nexus-i9250-android44-kitkat-update-aosp.htm
It is a AOSP build. After installed, I do not see any new features listed in 4.4 reviews. no any difference than before.
I saw some news articles say CyanogenMod has builds came out based on 4.4, but their site does not have a release not show features in each build.
Anybody can find a stable build other than the AOSP and the ones on xda ?

What new features are you missing? If it's the new launcher than it's ok. You download that separately... Search for "Google experience" launcher...

I'm not sure what exactly feature are missing. But the one I installed does not have launcher.
I thought 4.4 should be look like the review here.
http://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2013/11/android-4-4-kitkat-thoroughly-reviewed/
see the screenshot of home page. no launcher. the apps shown are here separately installed, not from the ROM.
The left button show in the home screen is an android robot, suppose to be phone button. when I click on it. it says 'app isn't installed'. how can I retrieve phone function?

Not meaning offense, but you don't even know how to drag the Phone app out of the app drawer and replace the one on the dock? Then you should give up all your effort trying to mimic Nexus 5 looks and revert to a more stable ROM. Your knowledge of Android 4.x (or at least the launcher) is still lacking.

Like I said, that all is the launcher... Just search for "Google experience" launcher (not on the market ofc.) and if you don't want that launcher you can mimic the gradient status bar and navigation bar with an instruction that can be found here on the GN forum

Bugs in Paranoid Android and AOSP for P6

I still can't post in developer threads so I'm sorry if this is the wrong place.
There are some issues with the AOSP rom and with Paranoid Android by surdu_petru.
AOSP - It has that KitKat "feature" where apps can't write data to the SD card. This means that you cant download from your browser, do backups and use custom camera apps etc. The issue might be in the etc folder inside the permissions.xml file. Also when using the switches in the status bar (notifications/switches) you can see a bit of jerkiness.
Paranoid Android - There is auto rotation on the lock screen which tends to slash the cover art when playing music and it's slow, honestly it would be better to have a switch in settings or lock it in portrait permanently. Also there is the issue when the status bar icons "drop" when another menu opens and go back up when you close it (i.e. long press + widgets). The same issues persist in OmniRom.
Is there any way to fix these? Editing permissions doesn't work and I don't know how to fix the "drop" issue in Omni.

[Q] Bringing in PA and AOKP features into Musta's CM11 (KitKat)

Well hello Lads and Gents,
I've been using the PACman ROM, which unfortunately hasn't been updated for a year, for a long time and I was amazed by the variety of functions available in this All-in-One ROM! But a weird bug in the ParanoidAndroid options (will talk about it later) annoyed me, so Mustaavalkosta's CM11 release got my attention.
I have to say that KitKat is pretty cool! But for some odd reason, my Google Calendar isn't syncing at all, the extended desktop feature doesn't change a thing, Trebuchet went full retard so I had to delete and replace it with a version designed for non-rooted phones, random freezes, etc. (will add more when I find more)
Nevertheless CM11 features nice data protection options and other little things that I didn't have in the PACman ROM (as it's JellyBean), while PACman ROM had nice features I don't have in CM11...
So my core question is: Is there a way to install AOKP and PA features in CM11? I really loved Pie and the notification bar customization (PA) was really cool too, even though it didn't work for me. I'd appreciate any hints on how to add new features (from other ROMs) on my phone without f*cking it up.
Also, is over the air updating possible for the nightlies?
And about that weird ParanoidAndroid notification bar customization bug: The problem was that the scaling of the settings were wrong. To be able to access the field where the color is set, I had to turn my phone to landscape mode. But when I did that the color palette which opened had its save button outside of the screen, no way to scroll. If I turned it back into portrait mode, the dialogue simply disappeared! I tried everything to fix it but I had no chance. So I've been unable to change any of the notification bar settings for ANY app.
Thanks in advance!
~GasLoop
You could either build your own ROM with the features you want, or find replacement apps. There's not really a drag-and-drop method for adding new features.

So that means I have to learn ROM coding? Oh lord... I thought there might be an easier way to bypass just this solution.

Android 10 navbar issues.

Hey guys.
So I got my OTA android 10 update today.
But after updating I have gotten a whole lot of issues with the navigation bar.
1. The new android 10 gestures does not work on 3rd party launchers, this was however expected.
2. The main problem is that I now have a space where the navbar is on the bottom of my phone, this is Hella annoying and frankly looks like crap.
For example, I am unable to strech widget all the way down, I also can not place icons where I want.
There is also an ugly overlay on the bottom when using Chrome or the playstore for example.
Is this how it is on Samsungs Android 10? Or have I just messed a setting?
I hade the One plus 7 pro running android 10 before this phone, on my one+ I had none of these issues.
(please spare me the comments about how you shouldn't update right away)
Sorry my question or answer dont help the white bar is were some apps say go full screen then closes it down have you thought about doing a back and rest on it like factory reset

Depends on the launcher you're using I suppose.
Googles Android Gestures in official Samsung Android 10 don't work well, but I'm having no troubles using the Samsung implementation of Android Gestures with Nova Launcher.

I am using Nova launcher an the navbar section is constant, even though I'm using the old gesture based navigation from android 9.
I have same problem with bar not disappearing from bottom. It is so annoying . Maybe factory reset will help but I don't want to risk, setup of whole system takes me a lot of time. Anybody knows solution for this?
I did a factory reset and now all is working well.

Speaking only from experience with my S10+ and the official Android 10 release, I too had to do a factory reset to clear up a bunch of glitches. We will see what happens once my Note 10+ gets the new version.

Oh, come on
No needs to factory reset, just go to Settings> Display> Navigation Bar>
and the turn off "Show button to hide keyboard"

Its always a good idea to perform a factory reset after a major android version update.
Themes were causing this issue for me.
I set navbar ht to 5 with hex installer and it fixed the gap below the keyboard.
Luckily it worked for me out of the box. I'm not a fan as some things become more tedious with this change, but at least I didn't have any issues. Definitely prefer avoiding a reset where possible. Even just using Nova, KLWP, and themes, a reset plus having to set everything back up is annoying af.

How are you using the old gesture based navigation from Android 9 with Nova launcher? I mean do you use Navigation buttons in Samsung settings can can still use gestures? Please show me how. My swipe gestures to switch between open apps don't work anymore in Android 10 when the navigation buttons are enabled.
