Has anyone noticed that our stock recovery is bugged. It is difficult to navigate. If u press volume up or down u have to press it twice so it will move. Just wondering if this is a contributing factor for us having problems with cwm stuck at boot logo. If it is, then samsung should fix our stock recovery because i think we need to have a functional stock recovery to have a cwm recovery. Hoping devs can help us with the cwm recovery.

Yep, I noticed the same thing on mine, That was before I flashed the rooted version. I'll have to check and see if the prob persists.
recovery bug
yeas i have the bug i have my samsung tab t210 rooted and i press vol down and it jumps 2 i cant get to install from external sd card weird we need a proper working recovery mod for this come on guys do you magic and make a custom recovery for use suffering lol
i suggest we all try to work towards twrp instead of CWM than, as TWRP is more sammy friendly, specially since it's all touch input

So I made the dumb mistake of trying to install CWM Recovery through Rom Manager. I chose the Epic 4G Touch as the option. Now when I boot though it boots into some odd recovery saying update file is backed up: reportedted manual mode updating appliction installing apks. successfully updated application. I can move the volume up and down that works, but when I hit the power button it doesn't do anything when I am on the options. I have tried flashing the Stock EG30 that didn't work, I tried flashing the kernals with recovery and those just bring up that recovery all the time, but I still can't hit the power button because nothing happens. Anyone have any idea what I should do?
The newer CWM recoveries use the capacitive touch buttons for selection, did you try pressing those?
Ok now I feel like a noob that seemed to work thanks. It's backup and running
Glad you got it all sorted out
It took me a bit to figure that out. How do I boot into recovery then? I flasged CWM through ROM manager and can't boot into it to flash my ROM's?

Some ways are:
ROM manager, when you choose to "Install ROM from SD Card" then it'll let you choose and boot from there.
Using ADB run
[adb reboot recovery]
make sure "USB Debugging" is checked
Power Off phone.
Hold (Power + Vol-Up Key) That boots into Recovery.
Supposed there are some apps that do it as well.
https://market.android.com/details?...NvbS5zaXJpdXNhcHBsaWNhdGlvbnMucXVpY2tib290Il0.
This is one I keep hearing about.
P.S. You should install that directly from a computer. It's so fun doing that.
Confuse why anybody using Rom Manager for anything other that maybe fix permissions... Sorry just my thoughts on the subject..
If you guys like a tough challenge then I may have one for you because I'm screwed right now
I have a Sprint Galaxy Note 2
I was on Synergy ROM
I wanted KitKat
I tried to Flash Omnirom for weeks with no success using TWRP
I read that the best recovery was Philz so I downloaded and flashed it
From Philz recovery I again tried to flash OmniRom with
gapps and failed again
I did not do a specific Philz backup as I already had one with TWRP (perhaps my big mistake)
Now, I can't restore my TWRP backup
I cant get to TWRP recovery
I cant boot my phone at all
Please, I'm hoping for a miracle here
Can anyone direct me?

Hi,
I did a similar thing to myphone. Called Samsung and was told to do this?
Hold the buttons like you are going into recovery mode. When you signs of life (it starting to power up), RELEASE the power button, but keep holding down home and vol +. This got me into stock recovery...hope this helps you.
Then just start all over...

Try using odin and flashing philz 6.07.9 ... to access twrp backups in philz select backup/restore then advanced options the check twrp. Now it will restore your twrp backups.

Did you get your phone back?
Rosy,I got my phone back briefly but wasnt able to get it to reset like yours
I ended up using odin to flash a version of TWRP that did override Philz recovery but everytime I switched batteries and restarted the phone it had all kinds of issues until today, when it died altogether. Now Im back where I started
On vacation and heading home tomorrow so Ill try Odin again.
That guy Phil never did reply to my issue in his own thread. Thats kind of rude
If everything else that you tried has failed why not flash a Stock Rom and start over from scratch or check out this post by @billard412 here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2086769 this has helped me bring my phone back to "life" a few times
Hoping this might help you too to bring your phone back to life

Hi guys, I managed to do something I've never heard of. To be fair, I try to follow directions pretty well, so I don't screw things up too often, and I'm not sure what to do now. Any help or guidance would be appreciated.
The symptom is that the phone will boot witht eh Samsung boot animation, I will see the Clockworkmod icon at the bottom, some Clockworkmod version information, then the phone will reboot. This will happen presumably indefinitely. I have watched it do it 3 times in a row and then pulled the battery. Post Philz, I get Android tablet icons instead of Clockworkmod icon and version info.
I loaded Whompasaurus http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2039564 to my phone yesterday and I was about to load Venom http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2121063 to my phone this morning (I had just copied it to the SD card). I told the phone to reboot into recovery by pressing the power button and selecting the option "reboot, recovery". The phone is now stuck rebooting attempting to enter recover and failing, or so it appears. I upgraded the Clockworkmod version to 6.0.4.3 yesterday, and that did act a little weird in my opinion, but since I had never done that before, I wasn't sure what to expect.
When I told it to upgrade in the Clockworkmod app, the phone powered off and I had to remove the battery to turn it back on. I booted to recovery and it said it was now at 6.0.4.3, so I booted normally. Back in the app it said it was 5.something. I kept poking around and it eventually asked for root access, which it hadn't before, and when I told it to upgrade the recovery this time, it actually rebotted the phone rather than turn it off.
I reflashed the CWM 6.0.4.3 recovery with Heimdall per these instructions (why aren't there proper instructions for Odin?!?!?! ermahgerd!!) via this link http://wiki.cyanogenmod.org/w/Install_CM_for_l900
That was successful but did not affect the symptoms.
I upgraded to Philz recovery thinking maybe I had to use a different recovery to reset the "boot to recovery" flag. I used this file and Odin, after resetting the Samsung driver: http://goo.im/devs/philz_touch/CWM_Advanced_Edition/l900/philz_touch_6.26.6-l900.tar.md5
The process was successful, but did not change the symptoms. Instead of seeing a Clockworkmod icon and version info at the bottom, I see what looks like android icons at the bottom, and then the phone reboots.
What can I do to fix my phone? I can boot to downloader mode fine. I would prefer to use Odin, but it seems I have Heimdall set up and working too.
Try using Odin to glad twrp 2.6.x then if it works try flashing your desired recovery from recovery

Is there something special about 2.6.x? I saw that there's a 2.7.x available now. 2.6.x doesn't seem to like my 64GB SD card, or maybe something else is going on. I factory reset a few times and will upgrade to the latest TWRP and try to flash that latest Venom ROM now and see what happens.
*Edit* No, there's SDCARD, SDCARD1, and EXTERNAL_SDCARD and I didn't check all of them, that's all. Oy, oy, oy.... But I'm up to 2.7 and installing Venom now....
Are asking for ROM recommendations still a no-no?
Yeah still pretty much a no no. I have used all the roms here and they are all pretty good.
Now I do suggest that you flash philz 6.07.9 for your recovery. First is that it properly flashes 4.4 and TW 4.3 roms. Second it makes proper backups. Twrp still has issues with aosp 4.4 and TW 4.3.

Hi Guys,
I wanted to install TouchWiz Rom on my i9082 but its mentioned in the thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2698242
to use a specific recovery. Now how can I know if i have the same recover or a different one. I dont remember which recovery I flashed some time back
I also wanted to ask that when I unmounts my memory card or removes it my phone stops booting in recover mode whats the reason for this, is it normal or I have flashed it wrongly. Because of this issue I was unable to use my backup which I took before flashing touchwix rom 2,
Can someone help me with these issues.
Thanks

Try hitting Vol UP+Home+Power Button after shutting down...
You can get into recovery mode ..whatever recovery is installed in your phone shows up.
If you installed custom recoveries it might show a title at the top..
Hope this helps to find what recovery you are using!!
Press Thanks if helped.
shutdown it down - turn off the phone wait few secs before going to next step
hold volume up button while holding power button also
when lg logo appear release/unpress power button just for a sec or two and then press and hold it back
Done
if its not working, it must be, u dont have recovery installed
use freegee to install one
hi
I dont understand
I try alot off time but dont secsuss
Assuming that the phone's power is off:
Hold down volume up button, then push the power button and hold it down. Count to 4 and stop holding the power button, but keep holding the volume up button. You should see the lg logo and then your recovery 5 ~ 7 seconds afterwards. Btw, which recovery are you using?
Custom recovery?
Is there a way to install a custom recovery on this phone? I read conflicting reports. I'm on 4.4.2 rooted and would to make a back up of my system, add zips, etc.

Have you try freegee in the play store? It installs the older version of cwm or twrp, but it's a start. Once you install the custom recovery, you can try flashing the newer version such as Philz cwm or newer version of twrp.
thanks
i do all this but no chances to enter into recovery
can help me with a video for that method
check if u have recovery mode installed
get FreeGee
and boot to it

I tried that before and got error messages. Some people say it worked and some say they had to wipe everything and it still did not work. Maybe the newer version works as I tried this 2 months ago.
Are you rooted?

first just make sure that your device is rooted, download Optimus G Pro Custom recovery (try to search on google, i found many links last time i download it), install that .apk on your device and then run it, choose flash recovery, and then choose reboot recovery. you will have recovery now. hope this helps.
Heyy! I wanna install twrp and then install cm12 nightly but I've read on other threads that flashing twrp directly will brick my phone and I'll have to install cwm first then cwm touch then twrp from there but on another thread it tells me to directly install twrp from freegee on stock JB.
Can anyone explain this to me? It's really confusing and I wanna know if flashing twrp will brick my phone. Im on stock kk but ill go back to JB and try it. Someone tell me if thats a good idea?

While you're on stock ROMs, just use Philz Touch. But if you ever go to like CyanogenMod or any other non-stock ROM. Flash that ROM with Philz Touch, then flash official TWRP. After, you can stay on TWRP once running a custom ROM.
