Can the magnet of the HOX case damage the phone - HTC One X

I have searched everywhere. But I couldn't find conclusive evidence about this.So is there any risk in using a pouch with a magnet?

My experience of covers with magnets is they will adversely affect the the compass function of your phone. Their proximity means they completely swamp the earth's magnetic field rendering the flux sensor useless. My One X even complained about the strong magnetic field when I first put it in the case. Since I use the compass function quite a lot I removed the magnets and replaced them with velcro.
Can't comment on the radios but I would have thought magnets wouldn't be too good with nfc either.

It shouldn't really effect battery or the phones internals, unless you're pulling the phone apart and rubbing the magnet on its processor etc. I wouldnt worry about it, the compass will be affected however as will wifi, gps and 3g signal possibly.

Magnetic Leather Case & Magnetic Sensor

Has anybody had any problems with using a leather holster with a magnetic clip and battery drainage? I'm noticing that when my phone is in my galaxy leather case (the one that sprint sells....), that my sensor usuage is extremely high. Spare parts sensor usage says over 2 hours in about 12 hours in the case sitting in sleep. When my phone is just sitting on the table outside of the case, in sleep the sensor usuage stays low and battery lasts a long time. I downloaded the sensor debug app from the market. If u hold the magnetic part of the case to the front of the screen and move it around, the ambient magnetic field numbers go crazy shooting up to 250. Anybody else willing to test this out???

I get very little sensor usage and I have a cheap magnetic holster from Ebay. Also have an Eddie Bauer case from Best Buy and also did not see this. Sometimes the Gallery app is bad and uses the sensor even when not in use. Freeze it and see if that fixes it.
I had a case from Skull Candy that had magnets...never noticed any battery drain. Course, I didn't have my Epic in it too much, I hate that thing. 16 bucks down the drain.
I work with electronics, there is a strong possibilityit is draining your battery and magnets cause disruption that can harm your electronics ovetime. The magnet can erase your memory card and cause spots to appear on your screen. I would recommend not using anything magnetic around your electronic devices.
If you put the magnetic part close to the screen and get a rainbow I definitely wouldn't use it.

My magnetic case has no effect on my screen so this cheap Ebay case is good to go. Been using it for a year with no issues. I am pretty sure when they design the magnetic clasps for cell phones they know there is sensitive electronics in there. The Blackberry case uses a magnet to put the phone in standby mode.

Can anyone identify this part

Just replaced the flex cable on my Desire and found this small rubber part on the desk afterwards. Anyone know where it should fit, I can't see anywhere obvious!
Thanks

Upps
I've never seen it before!
That might be the small plastic/rubber shield that separates the proximity sensor's emitter/receiver (as depicted in this picture). Without it, the proximity sensor might function incorrectly.
Source.
God save the Queen!
Further to the image above, that proximity sensor rubber is shown at 5:00 in this video:

Thanks for the responses - proximity sensor sounds like the culprit to me, particularly as I've had a few problems with it not working lately! Time to take my phone to bits again I think, thanks for your assistance
Looks like the piece that goes on the inside of the back cover which sits over the speaker? Could be wrong though...
Hi I know exactly what it is I had the same problem I did a massive fix on my desire a few months back.
It's the Mic or the rubber bit that protects it and helps the sound travel to the Mic look at the bottom of your phone. There are 2 boards I think the top and the bottom top having camera etc and the bottom having the processer sim.card etc. When you took those out it must have fell out if I remember correctly its just 2 bumps at the bottom next to the micro USB port on the right
Hope this helps

I had a second look it could be the proximity sensor rubber thingy lol that is mentioned above too
Lol one or the other I remember mine fell out when fixing

Thanks for your replies, it wad indeed the proximity sensor piece as suggested. The video and picture above were spot on, my phone is fully operational again
Thanks!

Textrax Neodymium super magnet holder

http://www.tetrax.com/en/
Anyone has tried this with the One X?
I am curious to know if the dot that is glued to the back of the phone actually holds on the One X back surface. Also I am not sure which model would be best for the One X, the XWAY or the smaller ECO/GEO types.
It would be great to hear some hands on experiences, or do's and don't from users who have used these holders with other models.
If you didn't know, the X is plastic.
The iphone used in their image is the older non-glass one (metal).
I don't think that will work with the X.

I know the X is plastic, it just prevents the phone from swiveling on the center point when pressed. There is still 1 center magnet. And you have to attach a tiny metal dot to the back of your phone which snaps in the Neodymium holder. It actually seems to be really good watching the videos and reading the reviews and does not rely on your phone casing to be metal.
as I know magnet holders cause damage on magnetic sensors like compass gyro sensor ...

From the FAQ:
Does the magnetism interfere with my cell phone or GPS system?
First of all the magnet has no direct contact to the cell phone or GPS system, as the steel-clip is mounted to the device. 4 magnets with two opposite poles layout create a close magnetic field circuit so The steel-clip further more shields almost completely the magnetic field and the residual magnetism is lower than a common headphone. To all undertaken tests there was no sign of any interference with the performance of a cell phone, smart-phone or mobile GPS device, caused by the magnetic field of the TETRAX system. The same is true for the usage of MP3-players such as e.g. I-Pods.

Surely if it would cause interference it would not be such a popular product. I am sure it is well thought through, but am curiuous to hear from people who have actually used it...
Thought I'd visit the website for a browse.
Funny that the driving safely bit says that in california and other states its illegal to put a gps device on the windshield. Obviously to give an incentive to buy their holder.
So I read the law they linked to, funnily enough, it actually says you CAN use a gps device on the windshield.
I know it's probably considered 'a white lie' from tetrax, but that's stopped me even considering buying from them..
Edit: I wonder what else they're lying about..... Maybe the part that it doesn't damage your phone?

A great product
I use the xway model on my hox, and i think is perfect for 3 reasons:
1- the system is not invasive as classical sucker holders are.
2- my hox stay fresh in front of the air hole.
3- i've applied the metal clip on my hox rubber cover, it's very easy to put it on the holder.
I'm using this holder for a long time, so when moving to the One X I also applied the small button onto the case I use, so not directly onto the device, because you will never be able to remove it anymore.
Although, the button would not stick onto the case (since the case is designed to let nothing stick onto it )
I used glue (one-second glue) and it holds great.
I can even use the compass while attached onto the magnet.
The button is located in the middle of the device to prevent it to automatically turn.

Naked GalNex Owners: Any scuffing/scratching from setting on surfaces?

Title says it all!
For those of you who refuse to clothe your GalNexes, any damage to the camera lens, chrome area around the lens, or anywhere on the back from being set/slid on surfaces? Any paint peeling, scrapes, what have you?
Do you set your Nexus down face up or face down? The screen is sunk in a bit, and the front is flat compared to the back, so hey it's not such a wild notion!

Nope.
...
my neked gnex is nearly flawless, screen is flawless. i set her on her back, when shes not in my pocket
Facing the rear,
One at the top, one at the top right corner, 2 dots to the left of the speaker grill.
And some marks on the headphone jack due to penetrations.
No abrasions or scratches on the case or screen. I've dropped it more times than I care to admit. The only signs of wear I notice are near the charging port. My husband cases his so that we can tell them apart when they're off (and because he's even more destructive than me.)

[Q] does the magnet on the casing affect note 2 ?

i was trouble by this when i got my new casing for note 2 , at some point i cannot draw on the middle part on the right side with the S pen.
at first i thought the casing was too tight hence result "presure" on the phone so that i cannot draw on it ( i can draw on it using my finger), so i removed the case and everything is back to normal.
untill just now i finally realised it wasn't the casing , it was the magnet on the casing ( when i draw, i flip the cover to the back ). when the magnet get too close behind the screen, the S pen won't work on that area.
so here is my question. is it okay for the magnet to be so close to the phone , and will it affect the hard ware ( either S pen or the sensor in the screen ) ?
many thanks .
I have exactly the same experience. ...so now my phone is without a case. ..
Saving up to get the SGP case soon

I had a case on for one day with a magnet clip on the right side of the screen and I noticed that the s-pen didn't work properly around that area. I can write there but hovering doesn't work too good.
I removed the case and it's been off for maybe less than 20 hours... But I still experience the problem and it also seems that when I'm using the GPS it can't fix on my location. It just jumps around on the map closely to where I'm located. Tried the same thing on my Note 1 and it found my location with no problem.
I think somehow the magnet from the case has affected something internally. I hope this is not permanent...

Ans: It obviously does.
Hello alls! Any Note 2 owners here have the Flygrip installed? Curious if there's any magnetic parts in the grip which could distort the compass. Thanks for reading!
Hm... Now I'm not sure the Note 2 behaved like it did because of the magnet.. I've tried several Note 2's in store and hovering on the screen around the sides only work if you have the S-Pen real close to the screen. The GPS works fine now, I think perhaps it was some settings I played around with with how to find my location.
I think so
The s pen's sensor in ur note 2 is some kind of magnetic sensor.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Graphics_tablet
I think it affects the s pen input, I have a mercury case with a magnet which is used to close the case, and now when I'm writing or drawing with the S pen, the input goes haywire at that area so sad seems permanent...

Do you mean that even without the case you still have problems?
