Up up
same question
It is a belief that there are too many blocks for it on Froyo but Gingerbread should open it up for use...may not be included in stock GB but who here uses stock..lol?
The service is not commented out in th init.rc for the first time ever..
And if you run ps, the service is running...

Nice! So maybe.......
What's so frustrating is that if u look deep into the phone, its active and working. Its almost as if sprint has a block on it not samsung. In addition, if u download pro launcher u can create a shortcut for the tvout settings but it just forcecloses when u try to open. I'm dying for this feature so bad!!!

You know maybe they will finally let it out. Wasn't sprint tv the reason they wonked it for us? Because of the deal they had with the provider of that service or something. I hear they're doing away with it. Or they're gonna start charging for it or something.
Cd's or tapes?
Dudes we do have tv... its dnla wireless. Any tv with dnla should wor with it.

this is correct.
would be so nice to have this. Right now, I can stream to my TV via xbox, but would be much nicer to hook it straight to the TV.
now since i don't have two xbox's I can only stream it to one TV which is meh..

I think u are missing the point, a lot of ppl want it to MIRROR to a tv. What's the point of connecting wireless to tv when u can only watch pictures and videos from ur phone memory. 3.5mm Tvout is so useful that u can connect to ANY tv. Think about it, how many tvs out there don't have RCA inputs????

If I'm not mistaken the support for TV out the Epic has is limited to USB -> HDMI.
I'm not 100% on this, there could also be support for TV out via the headphones jack.
But going by what most phones these days do, I'd say we'll see it via USB->HDMI before we do via 3.5mm headphone jack.

No Dice. MHL (aka mini USB -> HDMI) is a no go. EC05 Syndicate 1.2.
Like the 3.5mm, the usb to hdmi is also running but won't work. If u look deep into phone, u can see that its there but blocked somehow . Its believed to be blocked by sprint
Rumors say gingerbread update might unblock. But ofcourse don't hold your breath for either the update or unblock

Could i have a link that shows which bluetooth dongle works for you?
Sent from my DROID2 GLOBAL using xda app-developers app
So I keep reading, a lot, that otg and dongle work, but then nobody shows how or what brand...
Does it work or are all of these posts saying its works just repeating what they have read?
[I really dont think people should be posting answers in an FAQ if they are just repeating others words]
I have looked and looked and I can not find anything beyond the same reply: "OTG cable and dongle"
If someone can share a link/thread that shows actual success with a Bluetooth dongle and results that would be great!
Thanks!

It doesn't work, there's no driver support in any Kf ROM for any type of Bluetooth dongle.
These posters have all read it doesn't work, they just refuse to believe it.
I have heard that people have claimed success with dongle

I said that the only way it will work is with an otg cable and a Bluetooth dongle. You still do need drivers for it to work.

People are getting confused here, and that's understandable.
Before Bluetooth was around and usable on PCs, you used to be able to buy keyboards with an adapter that would sit in the USB port. They would only work with that specific keyboard and nothing else. They were proprietary and use the standard USB drivers apparently - Which is why the guy who is using the dongle and keyboard in the video is able to do so.
Bluetooth on the other hand is totally different, and while you need the dongle, you also need the drivers. But I think we've come far enough that no one is going to write them.

I was able to pair a PS3 controller with my AT&T S3 using the sixaxis program on Market Place. You have to run a configuration program with the Controller hooked to your pc to match with your phone. Once done, you should be able to pair it.

Oh yea!? Thems fightin words....
I've used sixaxis on every recent android I've owned with no issues. That said, I use an otg cable as well without issue, it just takes about a minute or so for it to start working. Still haven't found an otg cable that fits tightly though.

Love my sixaxis here too + hdmi out...
Only downside is that you have to manually pair the controller every time you want to game instead of it being ready to go. Other big hassle is that you have to create your own button mapping profile (or google one) for each new game that you want to play. Wish there was a good app to centralize most of them. Would have to be a root app, though, in order to save 'em into the sixaxis config dir: /data/com.dancingpixelstudios.sixaxiscontroller/profiles/GameName.map
fyi - this guy makes an s3+ps3 controller mount: http://buy.thegameklip.com/
for a few dollars more you can also have him include short usb cables to connect the controller, which according to him doesnt require root... unlike the bluetooth method.
i ordered the mount, but im still waiting for amazon to ship my ps3 controller. its nothing super amazing, but does the job.

Hello all. I am setting up a new home entertainment system, and was wondering if a MHL adapter like this would work with our Xperia Play.
You tell us man :]
Sent from my Xperia Play using xda app-developers app
Most likely not. The Xperia Play does not support HDMI, if my memory serves me right.
Thats why we do hackery my friend!
Sent from my Xperia Play using xda app-developers app
This line they add here in there "add"
"Designed For Use Smartphone, Tablet or Others with Mobile Devices Featuring MHL Technology enabled device"
Makes me question if thats particular to anything, But a device that already supported Hdmi wouldn't need this because it has an hdmi port. Since the xperia play does not support hdmi on its own this might be worth buying for the low cost and seeing if it does!
I feel like we've had this topic before... many times... and every possible solution except "hope" in this xBounds thing has been a massive failure.
Just got mine today.
I can confirm it does not work.

He wants USB Tethering. I have noticed that it is actually broken on a LOT of JB ROMs but nobody uses it or bothers to test it so it goes unnoticed. You might wanna try ICS.... I don't use USB Tethering but I have seen the problem across multiple devices on JB (excluding official JB of course)
Oops thats what happens when replying to a post when half asleep. I didn't think people still use usb thethering. Anyway right now best to buy a usb wireless adapter and use the modified wireless tether for root users. Unless someone else knows of a way to usb tether that works on jb.

USB Tether app
I use pdanet for my USB tethering needs. I am currently on TBGS3 5.0 (GB08) and tested it. It works flawlessly... the only thing is you may have to pay for the full functionality, depending on your needs. The app itself is not on the market, but if you google it you will get to there main cite, where you can download the app for your computer and, utilizing the push to phone function, can install the app on your phone. Good luck, hope this helped. :good:

If you're getting an "account not authorized" message thats the carrier.

I usb to my laptop because the wireless won't connect to that computer (I've tried everything with no luck) but every other device in the house will, and my phone is the only one with tethering capability. So I hop on wifi and plug and play. Unfortunately my scenario doesn't help your situation
