Hello all. I am setting up a new home entertainment system, and was wondering if a MHL adapter like this would work with our Xperia Play.
You tell us man :]
Sent from my Xperia Play using xda app-developers app
Most likely not. The Xperia Play does not support HDMI, if my memory serves me right.
Thats why we do hackery my friend!
Sent from my Xperia Play using xda app-developers app
This line they add here in there "add"
"Designed For Use Smartphone, Tablet or Others with Mobile Devices Featuring MHL Technology enabled device"
Makes me question if thats particular to anything, But a device that already supported Hdmi wouldn't need this because it has an hdmi port. Since the xperia play does not support hdmi on its own this might be worth buying for the low cost and seeing if it does!
I feel like we've had this topic before... many times... and every possible solution except "hope" in this xBounds thing has been a massive failure.
Just got mine today.
I can confirm it does not work.
Was worth a try
I'm thinking about starting a thinktank on modding hdmi onto play. Who knows how many Plays I'll break lol

Hey guys, i recently bought an i-helicopter which is told to be working mostly with iPhones.
I got mine yesterday, i tried it and it is working just fine with our GS2.
For 30 euros, it is a funny thing to have around.
Check it out.
The reason i am posting this, is because i was searching all over the internet for infos, and if this thing was really going to work.... well i didn't, so there you go.
http://www.ihelicopters.net/shop/ihelicopters/ihelicopter-idevice-controlled-rc-helicopter-777-170/
i got it from MiniInTheBox
that looks like fun
cool.. What about controller App and plug in the transmitter??
That looks like fun... D: I wanna get one
looks cool, is there anywhere else for cheaper?
i don't know for cheaper. google it.
as for the app. you need to download i-helicopter from appbrain, in order to work.
And you need to stop any music application - service that might be running.
the only bug with the helicopter is when you receive a call, and suddenly you don't have a remote for the heli , then it goes... MAYDAY!!
Yeah got a couple recently, works awesomely... Infrared transmitter plugs into earphone plug. Very cool to play with... Pity all remote control toys have been banned from my workplace, be fun to buzz the co-workers...
A loophole... They never said anything about phone controlled toys.....
I-helicopter is also available on android market...
Cheers...
I jest ordered 777-173 for about 30€ from ebay
Cant wait to recieve

Can work these copters for iPod in our Galaxy? There are with IR jack adapter. Others have iPod plug, then cannot work.
Yes, also we need app I-Helicopter from Market..
http://www.miniinthebox.com/index.php?main_page=advanced_search_result&inc_subcat=1&search_in_description=0&keyword=helicopter+controlled+by+ipod
I buy other electrononic components in MININTHEBOX without problem.
Frank
Solidly built, but still using IR, so extra transmitter + when the sensor can't "see" the transmitter, the heli drops like a rock.
Had one like this (although not phone controlled), dies on the second day.

777-173 can not work on Sharp Sh12C
post back in a couple of weeks time so we know what the durability on these things are, ive considered buying one of these but always figured they were flimsy and id probably end up sending it on a unexpected kamakaze mission LOL
I don't know if I'm posting this in the rite thread but I've seen a few HDMI to micro USB cables on eBay & amazon. I'm considering buying one but can anyone tell me if it actually works as I've read on a few places it doesn't have the speed through micro USB to support it.
Thanks.
I think it will not run, i saw some videos on youtube like "Minecraft Phone: Sony Ericsson Xperia Play" if you pay attention will see that the hdmi cable is conected on Xperia a little to left of the original USB port, i think that is an another version of the phone try to see on the gamepad, says Verizon, it can be a prototype.

It doesn´t work.
There is no way to use this phone with HDMI. The ones that people have seen are Dev units only.

No one else thought it was cool its exclusive to xperia devices for the first thirty days? I mean.... granted I already got it running on my HTC flyer .... but still kinda cool to see it come to Sony devices first. I wouldn't mind if more big titles coming to Android did that also.

Either a button overlay on the screen or hooking up a controller and mapping the buttons put from the phone to the controller

Well...this is just an idea. I don't know what you guys think, but maybe this could be a substitute for HDMI. Buy a mini Android PC to connect to an LCD monitor like this one: http://www.ebay.com/itm/MK802-Mini-PC-Android-4-0-WIFI-Google-IPTV-Smart-TV-Box-DDR3-1G-CPU-A10-1-5GHz-/160878065778?pt=US_Internet_Media_Streamers&hash=item2575147872, and then connect with AirDroid... it doesn't sound expensive... it would almost be like having an adapter but it would require more work to get working (plus more powerful, since it's a computer)...
Shipping: Free!

Well.
Must get credit card for inet asap^^

No, the Ouya is "dedicated gamine console" ( mine is on pre order , should be cool )
The MK802 and newer MK models are "mini pc's" that run Android.
linkREMOVED, Low on stock and don't want to link you since then I can't get one
Someone should buy this and let me know if it works.
I'll try it out and see....my dad just got a android pc (holy cow that thing is tiny).

If you get a MK802 MkIII for not much more it's a lot more machine than the Play. Then you'd just want to work out how to use the play's controls on it
I wanna use my x360 control on my phone to play games with how can i do it?
You might have to buy the usb wireless receiver for the controller them plug that into your phone. I have one somewhere I will find it amd try it out and let you know if it works

Quite right. (Here's a more relevant thread)

CM 10.1+ has some wireless controller support. But I don't know whether it works for the S4 in the same way as a tablet.

Mmm not sure if you can do it? I know you can use a wireless P3 controller but it's because of Bluetooth.
