Just wondering? What's the max wifi speed our phone can get? I'm using a 150mbps internet plan, but the phone is only getting 22.80mbps based on Speedtest.net

Hi everybody,
perhaps a pretty stupid question, but I would appreciate your support. The maximum speed connection I can get with my DHD through WiFi is 64Mbps. Am I wrong or according to the IEEE 802.11n specification the maximum speed should be around 300Mbps? With my laptop I can transfer at very high speed, but with the DHD the transfer speeds are definitely slower...
Thanks!
Luca
I have 50mb broadband, and get around 25 mb/s dl speed on the speed test with my device

Well, Internet connection is not an issue, but if you want to move videos through wireless the speed is pretty bad... with the laptop speeds are hugely higher.
If I'm not wrong our phone radio does not support IEEE802.11n.

Well, that's not what they write on the HTC website
EDIT: hmmm, you mean the radio? Do you know if it exists a radio that supports that? Anyway on HTC website they say it should support the 802.11n. Moreover, I have setted the router for allowing only 802.11n connection, so at least it is compatible...
I'm using a wireless n router.
The phone can't even max out my download on a 8/1 Mbit/s dsl connection.

That is actually slow for NYC. Verizon has just bathed NYC in massive speed vs. a lot of places.
Quite a few Thunderbolt users posted 60 down speedtests.

All advertised/published WiFi speeds are theoretical, and possible under ideal conditions. 65 Mbps is far more than you need, unless of course you are on a WiFi network that has a back end that can supply more than 65Mbps.

I think you're on 2.4 WiFi n and not 5 GHz WiFi n which would give you the higher speeds.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
I own a Netgear N900 router capable of 450mbps on both 2.4 and 5GHz bands. My Nexus also maxes out at 65mbps.
Because the gnex only have 1 antenna for WiFi. Need 2 for 150Mbps.

I go about as far as Castro Valley and I get decent speeds out there. In my hometown (Stockton) I get about 20mbs. You can always contact t mobile and see if there is something wrong with your tower. A few people in different areas have had that problem.

Nice Droid DNA
I'm in Berkeley and I usually get 20-25 mbps down and 10 up, although I did see one 29mbps down once... we've got a tower nearby, that's why.
Also, i tested on the 1900 mhz band and I got around 13-15mbps down and 6-7 up
I get 10~ mbps here in SF. However, around my house in South San Francisco near the lower parts of hickey, I get absolutely horrible 4g service (.1-.5mpbs down). It seems to be a dead zone, but other than that, reception seems to be great.
I work in south sf Millbrae ca on the weekends I do shuttle driving to the air port I get good then it goes down on speed

very interesting, how can you get 10 mbits upload since the maximum on t mobile network is 5 mbits -just hsupa , i beleive they will not gonna upgrade to dc-hsupa witch must be around 10mbits on the upload.
Are you sure you are not on wifi since the upload speeds you saying on 1900 mhz are also incorrect.
The max i have seen is 3.99MBits and i drive a lot in the bay..

I think you're thinking about at&t, they wont have dc-hspa since they have lte. Tmobile is the only carrier to have dc-hspa (42 mbps) which it has branded 4G. I've personally gotten 28 mbps down and 13 up in berkeley.

the specification is clear hspa + 42 is only about the download and u cant get more than 5 mgbits upload becouse dual carrier dc -hspa+ is implemented only on the download side 21x2=42 .this could be only possible if u are using a picocell and then the mobile traffic goes tru your wifi

How do you know its LTE and not 4G H+?
I just did a speed test and im running 20mbps

4G LTE is also available at DFW. I did a speed test and it was running 19 mbps. Not sure if it can go faster or not since the max is 20 mbps on speedtest app. I am very happy with galaxy s4.
Can anyone in a KNOWN LTE area who is using PREPAID confirm whether or not they are getting LTE? I was told by T-Mo that prepaid SIM are not provisioned for LTE.
I've always gotten 20mbps down that's not LTE. Your on LTE if your upload speed is well over the normal 2-3 mbps
If it was HSPA there would be better coverage and it would have been there in the past. This coverage map was empty one month ago when i checked it. Its appearance coincides with the lte roll out.
Did hspa ever get 20mbps?!
The data icon should be something like 4G with subscript LTE. Also, the tests that I ran, the upload speeds were 7 Mbps and 12 Mbps. The bad news is that LTE was on for couple hrs and now it is off. I guess they are still testing the towers. Im from DFW.
I'm using an HTC One, but just noticed today that 4G LTE was displaying in the status bar whereas before it just said 4G. This is in Hollywood to be more precise.
There's LTE all over West LA now. This was as of last night.
I did a few tests in Culver City and got about 22 down and 9 up, with 60ms ping.

I'm about 25 miles east of Downtown LA. I'm getting 20Mbps down and around 1.5-3Mbps up. 4G notification icon only says 4G, not 4G LTE, but still quiet a bit faster than my S3 which used to average around 6Mbps in the same area.

If you're in LA on a Galaxy phone, dial *#0011# and take a screenshot of your ServiceMode. By looking at it I'll be able to tell you what's the maximum theoretical download speed for your market (LA), what AWS channel they're using, what are your signal levels, etc..
Thanks.
