best way to increase battery life of xperia s(root required) - Sony Xperia S, Acro S, Ion

i am using stock ics,so am not if it will work for others.the clock frequency of XPERIA S is from 384 mhz-1.5 ghz.i used cpu spy and felt that phone never went to deep sleep mode.so i decreased the minimum frequency to the least 192 mhz(optional to change governor to CONSERVATIVE) And now my phone goes to deep sleep, and battery saving is very much.i just wrote to help and share this.thank you :good:
Requirements
Rooted xperia s
Master cpu or any other cpu overclocking software
Enough common sense to understand before what your going to do
i use greenify, wakelock detector, cpu spy and snapdragon battery guru too.I don't use task mangers or task killers as I need some apps like PIE CONTROL,etc to be running always
Some suggested apps by members in this thread are:
$ Deep sleep battery saver
$ X-core(for disabling the 2nd core when not in use,for dual core phones)

Try this app

just adding my own twist
use deep sleep battery saver to turn off your wifi and mobile data when screen locked and to put your phone into deep sleep when screen locked, greenify to hibernate your apps that keep waking your device, wakelock detector to see what apps are waking the device up when in deep sleep [the ones you want to hibernate in greenify], and setcpu to underclock/oveclock your CPU

great

Great tips..
I'm just using Set CPU, CPU Spy & Greenify before this..
Should add wakelockdetector & deep sleep battery saver after this..:good:

is the default battery management good enough?

I can't seem to tell the difference between some power management apps i got and the default power save feature.
do i really need power management for this phone or is it just fine with the default power saving mode?

Depends on your daily usage, I always found it best to underclock. Its keeps the temp down as well as offering great battery savings. Screen of profiles to underclock the CPU to about 548MHz by 192MHZ is great for sleeping.

which app would you recommend instead of the default power saving feature? (or are you saying the default power saving and underclock?)
Easy Battery Saver and Easy Task Killer took my battery from 20 hours to 40 hours.

He's talking about rooting your phone, flashing a custom Kernel and then using an CPU control app like System Tuner to change the maximum trequency speeds of your phones CPU. Right now, you phone as stock will use up to the maximum clock speed of 1.5GHz. So if you do what he is recommending you will be limiting that maximum clock speed of your phone thus reducing battery consumption and CPU heat.
More CPU power = more battery consumption.
In my experience power management tools are useless unless you like to them AUTO off things. Personally I like to control all aspects of my phone myself. If my battery gets low I adjust things (like turning off bluetooth and GPS) myself.

Task killers are anti-android. They do nothing useful and piss off your Operating System more than helping anything.. Any background task you kill will restart itself anyways using more battery power than just leaving it running. That is unless you have an app that is hanging and therefore you can use the built in Task Manger to kill that.
As stated in previous post, power management apps just shut things off at certain battery levels or certain phone status. You can use them if you want to help manage everything. For some they help quite a bit if your not used to dealing with it yourself but for other, like me, they are just more annoying. I do, however, recommend trying a different one than the built in one if you want to use one. Maybe the one recommended here is a good one.

[APP] Deep Sleep Battery Saver

Hello folks,
I came across this app which basically forces your phone into deep sleep mode when not in use( screen off). It turns data, wifi off etc. And wakes phone on in every half hour or other intervals you choose to check email etc. It does not do much when you are using the phone but saves a lot of battery when the phone is not being used.
I am using CM10 alpha 6 and it works great for the time being. I highly recommend it for people having battery issues.
If you want to try go to google play and search for "deep sleep battery saver".
My first impressions are really good.Just wanted to share...
Edit: Here is the link for play store
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.rootuninstaller.batrsaver
Here is the link for the xda-version thread where you can get .apk

as your recommended, we would appreciate if you include a playstore-link of the application
so we can download the right apps directed form your link easier,
and most users here use their mobile or tapatalk to access the xda forums
thank you
Link is added on the first post.
Apparently there is also free xda version of the app which includes paid options. There is a thread created by the developer on xda but since I am on my phone right now, I cant find the link. But a google search will lead you there.
EDIT: Link for xda version is also added for your convenience.

That is the point. It just wakes every once in a while (30, 45, 60 minutes etc. you define) and get all sorts of notifications etc. There will be delays for notifications. It is a price to pay for a dramatic increase in battery life. If you want to be notified immediately for a facebook, twitter etc., then this is not for you.
Now I can get around 30 hours of battery life easily. Before my battery used to die in about 17 hours or so. So the choice is up to you..

[Q]how to get rid of background apps

well the title said it. i have HOX unlocked and rooted with stock rom , the problem is there is alot of apps running in the back ground sucking my batter dry and filling my ram for no reason. i know there is alot of task mangers apps on the market (im using Advanced Task Manager Pro) it close all the apps running in the backround every 1 min, thats good but i want to stop the problem at it source. is there is a way to block the apps from even running in the first place?
im using :
Ds Battery Saver Pro (to save battery life)
Set Cpu (to control CPU clock thus save battery life)
Go to all apps in settings click the app and then disable.

why is nexus 7 able to be awaked by double tap or swipe twice?

I found it is awesome to use the elementX and bulletproof kernel!
it prolongs the life of my power button.
anyway , i am curious about why it is functional to realize this, double tap or swipe 2 times to awake the device?
And i found it is not every time that i can double-tap to turn on the screen? why?
pls tell me , thank u!
I'm running cleanROM1.3 with 3.4.0 ElementaX1.1+ kernel. Both tap2wake and swipe2wake are functioning flawlessly.
Enable 'Show Touches' in Developer options to check if your screen is misbehaving.
If that's alright, then increase your CPU freq. Low CPU freq on sleep hinders performance and affects battery life.

It may cause battery drain, not CPU exhaust,in the short run. But it may tire your cpu in the long run.
I still show processor entering and staying in deep sleep mode the majority of time even with swipe to wake/sleep enabled. I think any battery drain/processor activity is negligible.

Yep! d2w and s2w doesn't have a big impact on battery life.
That said if you touch your screen very often (when turned off) it can cost a severe amount of battery.

Agreed. I did not include the double tap to wake option for that reason. I use a cover so long swipe will not be misinterpreted like a double tap might.
I haven't used this kernel, nor am I much of a fan of double taps, so I don't know how it might help any cpu or battery
The touch sensor is never stopped, even when the display is off, on all kernels, not just the ones that have s2w/dt2w. What the custom kernel does is listen for touches, then wake the CPU to check if the right gesture was completed (sweep or double tap). This way, s2w can be achieved and there is no extra battery drain, unless you touch your screen a lot while the device is sleeping, since this would cause a CPU wakelock.

GUIDE TO EXTEND YOUR BATTERY LIFE UP TO THE LIMIT
20% Enough For A Day!It is one of the best option if you left home with less juice, and are going to be in a trouble!
Yesterday, when I was on a trip with my friends, I forgot to charge my battery, and guess what: just 17% of juice left on my device at early 6 AM! So, I used this simple method, which I am going to explain down there, then while returning home at 9:30, 6% of juice was available!
The thins that I did was, listened to music for more than 10 hours (via earphones), Took photos for more than 15 mins (altogether), Surfed 3G for about 7-10 mins (on way back to home! ), and some phone calls!

well for your kind information all the governers (if have custom kernel) take phone to deepsleep while screen off. And as per your thread title i don`t think the guide is that effective becoz this governer thingy is known by almost every one here. Not trying to flame but just wanted to say that don`t open new threads for such known things.
stock kernel have 2 governor
bcm21553 and performance
this trik can be apply when we use custom kernel
i know about this long time ago
