from where you can get 1,2,3, 4 GB internal memory? there are many links to increase memory.. but no one explains from how they did it... anyone here knows smth? please share !

to increase the internal memory from 380MB to 420MB is flashing the LT18i firmware (LT18i_4.1.B.0.587.ftf) by unchecking the "kernel" checkbox. there's no other way to increase it more than that....ever.

Wrong. It is possible to do that by using an ext position on your memory card. Please do some reading up before posting answers.
Here is a link that shows you how to do it. Take note that this is for ICS only. You may need to look around if you're looking for a GB or JB version.

This does not increase internal memory, it only changes the partitions size.
There is no way to increase internal memory, however some part of the SDcard can be assigned to be regarded as additional memory.

Hi,
as everybody have noticed Samsung has integrated into their firmwares 3 storage locations:
System storage (1GB)
USB storage (or internal SD card) (1.7GB)
SD card (or external SD card) (up to 32GB)
A way how to swap USB storage and SD card is already given.
Like most of you gamers have already noticed, the memory of the internal SD card is often too small to download big games (like NFL 2012, Real Football 2012, etc.)
I know there are ways how to swap or use apps to swap temporarily the directions.
But I want a permanent solution with full capability of storage usage.
So here is what I would like to do:
Change the storage to:
System storage (2,7GB)
SD card (up to 32GB)
So basically extend the system storage and delete the USB storage. Than swap the internal SD and external SD card.
Advantages:
Media Server will only have to search one direction(physical SD card)
Only 2 main directions
SD card direction IS a physical SD card.
SD card, if class 10, is quicker than the internal storage(for apps).
Hope someone can help.

Sounds like a good plan.....I never can understand the Samsung memory/storage layout..... even for app devs deciding on /sdcard as default data store.....Samsung just breaks defaults.
Has your plan been tried on any other Samsung model.....or other Androids with the same Internal/External layout??

I have been searching for quite some time. I have seen someone writing about a data.ex4 file which was 4GB big. But not sure what it was used for.
I'll dig a bit deeper into that :-D

Yes thats the plan :-D. But I have no clue about the internal restrictions of Android and the Samsung firmware.
I think if the extension of the system storage would work, than all we have to do is swap internal and external sd card. And keep the small internal(former internal sd card) partition unmounted.
BTW: My system storage has almost full. 850MB/1.07GB

I hve no idea too bro...can't help..
Many new devices around here use this three layer storage...
But,what I thought ,when we succes do this..there's no need to swap I think..

Didn't come veeery far, but atleast found a thread with a similiar concern:

This is for the Galaxy Mini.
I asked the developer or thread starter, whether he can help us out.
Let's wait and see, hopefully he comes around.
EDIT: Doc_cheilvenerdi.org has replied, and is working on a solution. Hope it is going to work .

Only Problem is, if the game is bigger than the internal sd space, you won't be able to download to sdcard. Because the procedure is like this:
Download game to internal SD -> move downloaded files to external SD
So you SD card has to be always free, unless you want to use the swap temporarily.

I'm here!
From a full firmware I just figured out that we don't need Kernel source because the ext4 kernel modules are already inside the Stock kernels (really good news)...
Now I'm dealing with the AOSP mkbootimg tool, used to repack the boot image after tweaking it...
It seems that they use a slightly modified one (? it should not occurr)...
I find two main differences... the first one is Solved... I can patch the mkbootimg code myself to use it...
The second one is related to 2 hex pages (4096 * 2 byte) of code at the end of the boot image that I cannot handle...
...anyway I don't know how to handle it...
Actually I cannot test modded images myself (I don't own a I8150) and could be dangerous to ask somebody else to do it for me...
Two questions to you:
1) Your Galaxy does have a fixed partition table, right? just to exclude that those codes are sizes and addresses of system parts... (this could be easy for us)
2) can you post me the output of the command (from adb shell or terminal emulator)
# busybox ls -l /dev/block/
while you have the sdcard slotted in?
After that I can prepare a boot image smaller (and NOT tweaked yet) just to not overwrite the code "I don't know what it is"...
but it's up to you to test for it...
...maybe it could not work...
...I will couple the repacked boot image with the original one, anyway, just to revert easy to it in case of troubleshootings...
but I repeat... it's up to you...

Hey guys any news on this? I think another good reason for this is that it will hopefully increase the amount of ram available, at this minute I have 87 mb free And hardly any apps open. So any news on this as it would be really helpful?

As far as I understood this solution would let you better use your memory card and system/app space, but I don't think it would increase at all the amount of RAM available, unfortunately...
Anyway, yeah, keep us posted thanks!

Unfortunately not. Not sure what the reason was, but there was a misunderstanding and after that there was no further reaction from the developer. I guess it was not possible.

Hey,
xperia arc memory is only 320 MB
and LINK2SD method is make my app start slow and not smoothly at all, so is there any way better than these ?
My arc is stock ICS rooted, stock kernel
Hi,
The only other way is to use apps2sd. Though this only moves some apps to the sd card, and you will still end up having problems with space.
Link2SD is the best option. If it's running slow, get a faster class card like a class 6 or class 10
just Flash Arc S FTF,
u Will Get 420 MB Internal Space.
Problem Solved
with titanium backup, you can move apps to the system rom, using free space that other ways gets wasted.

There is a new way to increase internal memory. AD2SDX.
here is the thread for the AD2SDX: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=18561098

You can not increase your RAM. It's tied to hardware, so unless you're skilled enough to mess with the phone's electronic board, it is not possible.
If you're talking about internal memory (sdcard0) there are many ways to free up some space in it, one of them is using Link2SD. You don't need a custom kernel, you just need to repartition your SD card.
have you heard swapping

with the help of swapping we can increase RAM from MMC
swapping cannot be done on default kernal.....hope u know that
Download An app,Ram expandar. It doesn't actually increase the ram instead, uses some of part of your sd card (swaping) as virtual ram.
Nonetheless there's always an option of downloading ram boosters

Alright I just read some old threads about this... It basically involves creating a swap partition on the SD card and use it as a secondary memory aside from RAM... It's similar to pagefile in Windows and swap partition in Ubuntu/Linux desktop.
Correct me if I'm wrong.
It will decrease your SD card life though (and probably damage/corrupt it) because SD cards are not designed for frequent and temporary read and write, it has limited read and write lifetime, while with the RAM this RW lifetime is much better than SD card.
Also, from what I'm seeing so far... swapping is more suitable for old Android versions (2.3 or lower) with low RAM (256 MB or lower). Android 4.0+ has improved memory management and there's really no need for a swap partition, thus why you more likely need a task killer on older Android (2.3-), but it is not recommended to use one on newer Android (4.0+). Even Kitkat runs fine on a 512MB device.
What sort of memory-eating app are you planning to use on your phone?

Adding a swap partition is not preferable because SD cards have slower R/W speeds compared to RAM, even if you have a class 10. And a "class 10" card means it has the best R/W speed, but it doesn't mean having longer R/W life.
Actually high RAM usage on Android is not always bad. Some parts of the RAM is used for caching so that you will run the apps faster compared to not having the cache. This is similar to the SUPERFETCH on Windows Vista and up. RAM usage does not always mean worse battery life, but CPU usage does.
Also... have you tried Greenify and see if it helps? Also if you can live without dual SIM, try one of the Kitkat ROMs, it removed lags completely for me.
Ok no problem!
By the way, which phone do you have?
You can easily flash an older or newer Kernel or maybe a custom one,for your phone,if you have a Sony Smartphone then flash through flashtool
Note:flashing Kernel doesn't wipe any data
Currently we don't have a swap supported kernel

Swap is useless IMHO
Your SDCard will probably suffer if you use it

Hi all,
I've just rooted and changed the rom of my HOX and to be honest it's amazing how fast it is and the battery seems to last a little bit longer.
Anyway, I am not writing a new thread for that of course. After trying to install several Apps, I've figured out that my internal memory is almost full even if I only have 706mo of apps. I've moved everything I can from the internal memory to the "sd card" and still, it only remains me 1.28gb of free space.
Do you know what's this "Other" folder which is taking me 4.79Gb of space?
Do you know if I can delete some stuffs?
Thanks,
Alex
Hey
Hi,
It shows others which includes space for system partition and kernel and all the system which is stored on your nand memory.
You only get around 2gb for applications
If I helped you hit that thanks button
Thanks for your answer but I know that. I would like to know if I can get clean the space used by the system and the kernel in order to get more free space?

read all your 25 GB is for data and data is used for APP'S you will have more space this is repartitioning on HOX memory most of the latest lolipop and kitkat roms are for the NL and have som JB roms converted for the NL. And will be good to learn the search function for your next question all your question is answared on many places just search it:silly:

it's a fictional space that will make you believe you really have 32GB...
its just a dirty trick by htc.
in reality you have 29gb where 2 is the data 25 is the "sd card" and the rest is system.
Hello i have htc 820 dual and it is supposed to have 16gb internal memory. And i figured out that 9.12gb only is usable and the rest is for the system. My problem is that my internal memory is full and i figured out using sd maid that my files occupy only 1GB of that space.
So, my question is what is hogging the rest of my phone memory? does anyone know about it please? Can that be a bug that have anything to do with the recent lollipop update? thanks in advance waiting for your reply people.
