Tablet and evo? Worth it?

I'm thinking about getting a honeycomb tablet, since I'm always using my phone around the house, I feel like id get alot of use outta it. But are they that much better than the evo, is it worth it to have both?
Just a note, I'm soon going to be overseas with only wifi for a year. I'm debating Between tablet or a tv since I don't wanna take the 55" led. Mainly for PS3.
Any thoughts.

I have multiples: Sprint Hero, Sprint EVO 4G, Acer Iconia A500, Viewsonic gTablet
The Acer is the only one that has Honeycomb (right now it is running 3.1...I was trying to get 3.2 to run, but I'm having troubles with Netflix on that version). It has troubles at times with touch (sometimes I can get it to run really fast, other times I have lag). Other than that, it's a good tablet and I use it for quite a number of things (more recently, Netflix). Honeycomb, however, doesn't have nearly the apps available as Gingerbread does (not sure why...I haven't had issues with the apps I put on it). Also, careful with this one as I already cracked one by pushing on it too hard. Battery life is pretty good on it.
The Viewsonic is running CyanogenMod 7.0.3 (Gingerbread). It works really well, too. Unfortunately, it doesn't have built-in GPS, so I have to use an external GPS for it. So, I do have problems with programs that need a GPS, if I forget to turn on the external one. It's heavier than the Acer, but it feels sturdier. Battery life is good (not as good as the Acer). I use that when I need two tablets (there are times for that...just not often).
If you can afford one, go ahead and get one. I would definitely root it and put a custom rom. You'll find XDA developers are quite a bit faster in getting the latest updates than the manufacturer.

This is out of character for me and I really hate apple to hell. lol. but go get an IPad, it's actually developed lol. and better quality than the androids. I REALLLLLY HATE apple. I wish apples would all die and never exist. But oh well. lol.

I also have the Viewsonic gTablet, running GtabComb 3.2. If you tether it to your phone's wifi, it can do everything an iPad can do apart from GPS and photos/video recording... but if you've got your phone, you can make up the difference. Plus, it has expandable memory and a USB port.

In going for the thrive or transformer

I avoided apple for a long time also. I have an evo, archos70 (love it), couple beater android tablets that will end up in the walls of my house for A/V and lighting control when I get it all how I want, and now an ipad. App wise, android is a huge loser here. Once jailbroken, the ipad is pretty nice for customization. It also kills all my other tablets except the archos for battery. It beats the archos even with a bigger screen, but not by a ton.
Long story short, yes. You are used to using your phone for access, a tablett is just that much better. Any good tablet.

the reason why the IPad is better than just about all the android tabs out is because a tablet is more like a computer. That is what apple does , they do computers. so of course they would have the know how to make a amazing tablet. Android is still a phone OS. even Honeycomb is still heavily based on a phones hardware. Don't get me wrong i wouldn't buy an Apple if my life was on the line, but they do make a good tablet. I personally have a Archos 70 IT and love it. No it doesn't have a tegra chip or GPS but it does just fine for everyday use. and if you want GPS buy a key chain Bluetooth GPS receiver. they are pretty cheep and most are extremely accurate. and if you are going to be taking it with you places it is way more portable than more of the larger tablets. Or you could wait a few months for the Gen 9 to be released with, i believe but am not for sure, has the tegra chip and GPS and a few more upgrades.
But all this is just my opinion.

Thanks guys, I will not own an ipad. I agree they are nice. But that doesn't change my mind. I just went and tried a Xoom. It was nice though I'm leaning toward the thrive because of the removable battery and full usb jack.

Well the tf is less expensive, but to get full use out of the ports you need to buy the dock. I am currently in a pickle deciding on the iconia or the tf. I have a coupon for 100 off at staples if you want. You can actually find it in the iconia or tf forums. I have a thread started in general getting comparisons of both.

Not an acer fan. Really it is only the appearance of the the thrive keeping me away. It def has the most features, minus the non ips screen and the huge charger. However all the ports and removable battery are nice. How can you hard reset the others if they freeze up etc if you can't pull the battery.?
I played with them all today briefly and thought the tf felt very sturdy and had a great screen so I'm torn.

First, yes, I do think that there's a place in my life for a tablet, a smartphone, and a laptop. At first I didn't think a tablet fit in, but I'm coming around. Still, nobody's quite gotten it 100% right yet.
Lack of USB in the tablet itself is a big turnoff for me on the Transformer. If it had that, I think I'd be sold on it. It's not quite as light or thin as the Galaxy or the iPad 2 (which I'm looking at for comparison, but don't plan to buy), but it's close enough. It feels great in the hand too. I'm not opposed to buying the keyboard, but I don't like that there's no USB support without it.
The Toshiba is noticeably bigger and heavier, but the full size SD and full size USB are both strong draws. I do not like the feel of it though. The rubber back just made it feel clunky to me -- not just heavy, but clunky. I do realize that getting the full size ports has to come with some tradeoffs.
Acer is tempting, but I've never considered them a quality brand. I dunno. Design's OK...not bad, not great. The USB port is keeping me from eliminating it.
The Samsung would be a very strong contender if it had even a microSD card for expansion. USB support via an adapter isn't as nice as having it built in, but it's acceptable. I might be able to live without microSD given that it does have USB storage support, but it's less than ideal. The design is great, particularly the metallic slate version -- I know it's not really metal, but the texture feels nice.
The Xoom's not bad, but it's a bit heavy and thick. Not as bad as the Toshiba though.
Lenovo's got a pair coming, and the version in the Thinkpad line appears to have full size USB and SD. I'll be interested to see how that one turns out. And HTC's got to have something coming soon in the 10.1" Honeycomb size eventually.

Iconia a100 vs Galazy Tab 7 plus

Hi all, I'm trying to make a decision on the iconia vs galaxy 7 plus. I've read and researched too much and now am totally confused.
Can anybody who has an opinion chime in on what the extra $200 bucks get me on the 7 plus? And why u went with the Iconia?
I'm willing to root (have a rooted samsung charge) to get any extras on the iconia I need. I tether with both barnacle and wi-fi tether.
Main uses are e-reader, amazon prime viewing, word press blog, office docs and excel editing, web surfing. I'm not terribly picky about screen quality but I do appreciate the AMOLED on my Charge.
What do you think? Your thoughts are appreciated!

I have never used the Galaxy, so I can't compare. But I use my A100 for ereading, web surfing etc and I am happy with it.

Keep in mind that until just about recently, the Iconia A100 was priced at 329 and the 7 Plus is 399 so the difference hasn't been that far off.
The Tab gives you double the battery life, much slimmer device, much better screen (viewing angles and the like) and faster processor. Play with both in person.
If the Iconia at least was pushing 6hrs of battery by default, I personally would have bought one seeing as I just started getting into ebooks of late. I also do think that 399 for the Tab 7.0 plus is also on the high end, but it's a sleek device.
If you can get the Iconia for 200 bucks less that the Tab, that's not a bad deal. Just have to deal with it's puny battery.

I had the Samsung 7.0 Plus for a month, but I'm a silver member at Best Buy so I get 45 days . What's good is everything works GPS, mic, ect. Screen and battery is great too.
What changed my mind on the Sammy. No ports, peel application is useless you have to be in front of every device and it's slow, there are some glitches with the HC experience that I haven't experienced with any of my other tabs (mainly when selecting text), when enlarging text on websites it only scales to the width screen size any bigger you have to scroll back and forth to read which is annoying (the Acer will make text large and fit it to screen which makes reading websites easy), can't change the browser to "desktop" in menu only "tablet" view, touchwiz is slick but unnecessary which brings me to my last point Samsung takes forever to update the operating system. They have so many devices. Acer has only a few tablets and ghastly said ICS in January which really means end of February.
Overall you can't go wrong with either. What I like about the Acer is hooking it up to my TVs streaming movies via network or Netflix "HDMI", GPS, quick charge takes a hour. HC is smooth, indicator lights and heptic feedback, camera flash.
FYI I would of kept the Sammy but personally I deal with it not scaling print to fit screen, it just makes reading easier on small screen. So $422 to get a better screen and battery I didn't think it was worth it. Especially when something new and better will be out next year. I could deal with my $200 Acer.

No doubt I change tablets like clothes. I actually went back to BBY to take another look at the Sammy because I'm pissed with the mic quality of the Acer. Still couldn't justify it. HC is HC.

The main thing with the Samsung is the screen an battery life. The screen is something I can live with, but if I were paying full price for the A100(I got mine for $189), I would probably consider the Samsung just for the better battery and consider the screen upgrade a bonus.
The battery on the Iconia is almost laughably bad, but for under $200 I'm not too unhappy with it and I'm not sure I'd pay $300 for it. If the $250 Best Buy price stick around for a while, it would be a bit more tempting. I'd say only get the Iconia if you can get it for under $250 or less. It's a decent enough tablet for that price, but the screen and battery have no place in a tablet that costs over $300.

Add weak wifi to the list of flaws on the a100. I got mine for $248 at Frys and I actually liked it at first. The screen isn't so bad but battery was pretty horrible. My phone lasts longer. Possibly battery drain was caused by it trying to acquire wifi signal half the time. Weak wifi make using it kinda pointless if you surf a lot. Half the time it doesn't connect so its like the old day where you have to move here or stand here to get even just 1 signal bar. My phone has full wifi signal and my other 2 tablets has atleast 2 bars.
The samsung 7 plus was my original choice since I have the old 7 inch tab but I couldn't pass up the $248 price for the a100. All the extra ports I don't think is really that necessary. I do use hdmi out on my phone but very rarely and the output is isn't that great when its on your tv. I really never had to worry about it with my older 7 inch sammy tab. I do like the allshare feature a lot and it works best on my samsung tv. So that's another thing to consider if you have a samsung TV. I've tried using 3rd party apps but they're not so great.
So if can get it cheap and can deal with the wifi then you may be happy with the a100. Otherwise I would go with the Sammy.

as I pointed out in your other thread, the WiFi issue may be something with your network. You also might have a defective unit, because the WiFi is actually quite powerful. In my previous tablet, I would sit at my desk with 5-10% connection, but I am normally at about 75-80% with this tablet.

The Samsung tab 7 plus is way ahead of the a100. The Samsung have a far better viewing angle and battery life. It has the ability to decode almost all hd videos you throw at it unlike the a100.
The negative points about the Samsung is that they use only mtp to transfer data.
Longer charging times.
No micro usb port. Uses proprietary cable.
I would get the a100 if the price difference between them is set least $150.

So I went to bestbuy today to check out their tablets and I was playing with the samsung 7. It's thinner and lighter obviously but man was it choppy. I didn't check but i think its still at version 3.1. Scrolling through home pages and apps list were choppy. And also hitting the + icon to bring up widget etc was choppy. I felt like I was back to single core. Hopefully this will all go away with 3.2.1.

There is an adapter that plugs into the 7+ charge port turning it into a USB host.

Keep in mind what you were using was a display model that quite probably suffered through kids not really practicing good computer habits? lol I have never once (yet) found mine to be anything but silky smooth and snappy as all get out. This processor beats the Tegra2 hands down!

I bought a Samsung 7 plus on the day before Thanksgiving and I was surprised to get a acer a100 on black Friday for $189. The Samsung is just a hair faster in browsing but I feel that something is really holding it back; it feels bloated. I like the screen and the battery is better but my one major disappointment is the remote software that comes with it; just useless because it does not have my projector listed
The Samsung 7 plus is not worth $400 but the Acer A100 is worth $189. Actually it's the best tablet for $189. So here are my 7 inch tablet rankings.
1. Acer A100 at $189 (A smaller A500 but display and battery are the weak spots). If $250 it drops to 2nd place.)
2. Kindle Fire at $200 (Very barebones but feels very good and display is nice. 512mb is the major weak spot)
3. HTC Flyer at $300 (Like the speed and build material's. Needs to be cheaper.)
4. Samsung 7 plus at $399 (Most expensive and feels bloated)
5. Nook color used (Tab is showing it age with a 800mhz single core. Must hack to show potential.)
6. Nook tablet at $250 (Never used this one)
7. Blackberry playbook at $200 (Never used this one)

We don't have the options that others seem to. The Samsung 7 plus isn't available here yet, and I'm sure it would be easily over $400. The cheapest I could find the Acer Iconia A100 in canada is $249 and it sold out very quickly. To compare, the 16GB Iconia is only $20 more in the US compared to the 8GB but it is $100 more in Canada.
We can't get the Kindle Fire, and the Nook is not available for Canada either.
We can get the kobo vox but it's an e-reader, not a full tablet.
So in other words, we get the shaft when it comes to 7" tablet selection.

It depend on how much money u have and wanna spend. Because they have different price ^^ A100 is only 300$, but tab is 430$.
If u dont care about money, i will suggest u buy Tab+
Because:
-Better battery life
-Better screen
-More lighter than A100, more slimmer
-CPU is just higher little bit, not important so far because tegra2 in A100 still good as far right now
And 1 more important thing: Tab+ will get ICS4.0 soon, but A100 maybe not
For me, my A100 is fine ritenow.
PS: any1 have problems when using Manga Watcher??? My A100 could run it, but after I hard reset, and reinstall the app, it not working anymore, foreclose. Same problem with 1 Vietnamese app to watching television online dont know why, maybe i will hard reset it 1 more time

I completely agree with this statement! It's my experience that the Samsung ICS update will come MUCH later than sooner. Last month, I finally got the Gingerbread update on my Epic 4G (Samsung's "flagship" phone from a year ago).

yeah samsung lags on their updates, i have the fascinate and it only got one update on it. haahaaaha.

GTab 7+
Agree the A100 is a fine tab despite rather serious shortcomings (had mine about 2 weeks before returning to BB) but now that the GTab 7+ has gotten root and CWM (kudos to gary9d) the options are far and away greater than presently available the A100. Achieving root is a good thing but without a dependable method of achieving Recovery when (and not if) something goes awry one runs the risk of a very expensive brick. Perhaps it just me but I've yet to feel good about many of the vendor supplied "recovery" protocols and have always relied on CWM.

Doesn't have micro SD slot.
Doesn't have a snapdragon 800.
Doesn't have 4GB of ram.
Doesn't have a 4K screen.
Doesn't come with a chicken... Every top stuff comes with plus a chicken.

Pros:
BEAUTIFUL screen. It is gorgeous and very bright. You can't really say that about many tablets. It almost reaches to the level of my old Transformer Prime at 600 nits (it's about 583 nits at brightest)
Fast. This quad core S600-esque processor is so much faster than anything I've had for mobile. It's one of the reasons I upgraded
Cheap. It's $230 or $270. I got the $270 32GB which is roomy enough for my needs.
Long battery. I haven't had it for long, but I can already tell it is going to last almost as long as my TFP.
Small and can be held in a single hand.
REALLY good wifi reception.
GPS that works very well even inside
It's stock Google and will be updated as soon as KitKat or future Android upgrades come out. Plan for 2+ years of upgrades and support.
Loud stereo speakers
Support for practically any 3G/LTE data connection you'd like in the US.
Unlocked bootloader. You can modify anything inside this tablet.
Grippy matte-plastic back.
Sexy look, IMO
Thin and light.
Bluetooth Smart and 4.0 support. This will increase in popularity with wearable Bluetooth devices.
Cons:
Small screen. I think I would be happier with an 8" screen, but it's something I can live with.
No microSD slot. This is something that I can live with, and if you want, you can get a microUSB to microSD adapter.
Non-removable battery. You won't worry about this unless you are truly a road warrior. It should last you till you want to upgrade or longer.
No micro HDMI port. This, again, can be something I live with. You can use MHL I believe if you need it.
No TouchWiz or other OEM skins. Nothing I lose sleep over, just something for those who find the skinned editions of Android better than regular stock.
No camera flash. Doesn't bother me, I don't plan on taking pictures much with this tablet.
A few launch issues, maybe. It seems to be not too big (there are many users who probably don't have problems than the people who complain about it here) and is being resolved fairly quickly.
No vibrator. My hands miss the vibrations of my TFP, but it's ok.
No longer has a secure element with NFC. This means no more Google Wallet or other NFC-banking apps. You can still beam contacts and such. Not a big deal.
No 802.11ac wifi support. This isn't a big thing yet and is still just starting to get into mainstream routers. With the life time of your tablet, you probably won't see many AC routers until 2 years from now, and you probably won't be missing much. People still use .11g standards to this day.
The speakers apparently emit a hiss at low volume due to some digital volume reduction instead of using an actual amplifier.

Drop tests show no survivals. Get a case or else, which might increase weight and size.
There is only T-Mobile offering Lte in USA. Verizon clueless on imei. Checking at&t Lte again tomorrow, but no tethering regardless.

And in some cases, even a custom ROM just holds the issue at bay for a while...

For me two things are the keyfeatures:
Price + size. I had an iPad, big tablets are not what I wanted.

I don't think there are any real cons to this tablet. Just personal preferences. Even the speaker hiss isn't noticeable unless you have ear pressed against the speaker. Overall its a very solid tablet.

I've had no problems such as the aforementioned dust or light bleeds. Rooted out of the box, put carbon on it, never had a random reboot either.

The only con so far is that I can't use my 8-bitty Bluetooth gamepad. The new Bluetooth stack doesn't support it.

Actually if your lucky like me I dropped mine today actually the screen kinda popped loose a little it cut off my heart stopped lol (literally) but I snapped the screen in turned right on I almost cried lol only thing it did was deleted some apps I had weird but no issues now and still looks new

Hey, my iPhone decided to break on me, and I've decided to go back to Android. I've been looking at phone sizes less than 5.5" and this phone is one of them. Do you think this phone is worth it or are there any other smaller sized phones? Thanks (And ples give a phone thats atleast rootable)

I got this phone 4+ months ago after being a long time Galaxy S veteran from the first one to the sixth, and honestly the only thing I regret is the snappy response times on those phones and of course in galaxy s7 micro SD card came back too, so yea!
This phone gives you a pure Google Android experience. Whether you decide to root and/or install custom ROMs is also an option you can decide based on your needs. The Google's repository always has the latest ROM available for you to download and flash away on monthly bases if like to keep up with the updates and do a clean install of a full ROM. And about the over the air updates, if you don't like to wait for the next one to pop up some time, you can also download OTA updates from Google's repository too.
The physical build quality feels more on the cost saving side for Google and LG, and it doesn't feel as the premium phones do, but the plus side is since the back is not glass, it doesn't retain as much finger prints and stays cleaner in general. And it is light in weight.
Finger print reader works marvelously. Every single time.
Performance is good for daily use, average to low for a gamer.
Battery lasts about a day for my daily activities, if I'm on a plane or use it 5-6 hours straight (heavy use with Internet and screen brightness cranked up) I would charged twice a day.
The charging port/data port is USB type C. I had a wtf moment when I opened box and saw both sides of the charging cable having the same type of interface, but oh well. I finally bought a couple of cables for car charges, and computer.
Wifi connection is not snappy. On 2.4 GHz it lags and the ping times vary. 5 GHz connection is more reliable. I've tried using 3 different routers (airport extreme, Linksys ea8500, and a stock Xfinity router) and I've had the same experience. Not a big fan of this part as I've flashed the latest ROM onto this thing just to have a fresh clean install and got the same wifi results.
The screen is HD quality on the medium side (not 4k or retina quality for you coming over from I products) and you can check out the specs too. It is OK.
I'm happy with it in general, so do I wish I waited for the S7, yes, but you can't beat the good price on Nexus 5x either.
It is really a personal choice, but here are a few things I'd to say. It is a trade-off like everything else you buy, but I in general like it.

Wow, thanks, I'm also an ex-Samsung user. Had a lot of their flagships before I brought a 6S, but the S7 for me is asking for too much money, so I'm probably going to go for this phone. Also, how is the camera quality?

Very good photo quality. It is surprisingly good during low light photos. There is also a dedicated thread for photos taken with Nexus 5x, which I found useful when reading about this phone.

Actually the 5x display is higher than retina quality (more pixels per inch) and also has more accurate colours than iPhone 6s as shown by Anandtech.
I think we can safely say the screen is better than what's used on the iPhone 6s and surpasses the "retina" base mark for pixel density.

So I chose the pixel xl as my Note 7 replacement and although it's not a bad phone, honestly it's not nearly as good as the s7 edge or even the note 5 ( I haven't owned only Samsung phones those are just my last two).
I thought Google assistant (the main reason I chose this phone) was supposed to be a big deal but is there really any major difference than using "OK Google" on any other android phone? Also, no wireless charging or microsd slot? Seriously, what makes this phone worth the sticker price?
I know this sounds like just a rant but after reading all of the positive reviews about this phone, I feel really let down after actually using it and I honestly feel like I'm missing something major here. Anyone else?

I think your perspective is right on. If your coming from a 3 year old phone, this phone is mind blowing. If your coming from a premium Samsung or iPhone, its meh at best. I upgrade every year and to me its just a small iteration. My Nexus 6 is still my favorite phone. The Pixel is a $500 phone.

My thoughts exactly. No micro SD slot (just to get user to store everything on googles cloud) no wireless chrging(though I give them credit for the 15 minute plug in giving 7 hours of use. The phone is efficient. I've gotten almost 5 hours of screen time with heavy use. The call quality seems to be better than Samsung. HD calls on verizon sound really good on my end and others have stated this is the clearest I've sounded to them in a while(maybe the design using glass at the top of the back for better antenna reception really does matter). I like googles launcher. But this phone starves for faetures like "Hidden folder" on the note 7, good lock thru galaxy apps, notification light blinks so slow i can unlock the phone before the light flashes. No always on screen. From the front the phone feels like i'm holding a galaxy S4. The chin is huge for no reason. 5.5 in screen is no longer "XL". Should make a 6 inch screen for the XL. CAmera is great. No numbered notifications(a little number in a bubble showing how many new texts or calls) no batter percentage option. Finger print sensor on the back is easier to use and it's fast. I guess all the fuss is about google assistant. To me it's not qite a flagship but lets remember. Google(like all other phone companies) need to you to give this 1 up when the next one drops. So guarantee the next one has wireless charging and or a SD slot. Just my opinion.

Thank you! I really don't think it's a bad phone but the price and the hype is just crazy! It seriously feels cheap to me. I know it's all metal but because of the different textures on the back it feels like plastic unless it's cold. It's not even water resistant and the top and bottom bezels are way too big to look like a phone that costs this much.
If Samsung or apple came out with this phone they'd be in serious trouble but Google does it and it's some kind of revolution? The assistant isn't going to be even close to useful until it's available in the Play store for everyone. It's just missing so much that phones released 6 months ago costing $100-$200 less already have.
I was really excited for this phone after the note 7 thing and I'm just really disappointed. I'm keeping my note 7, fire hazard or not.

Google's phones will never, ever, ever include an SD card slot, ever again. This will always be a choice you have to make with Google, because they religiously believe in the cloud. I just tell people to get a Moto if they want a Nexus-like with SD card support. However, the unlimited photos and videos at full quality for free offered with the Pixel is amazing.
As for wireless charging, now that I have quick chargers everywhere I stopped using wireless charging with my Nexus 6 months ago. It's just sooooo sssllllooowwwwww. And the Pixel charges quite quickly, even on non-QC chargers. For instance, it seems to be sinking quite a bit of current from my powered hub, which just supplies 5V but can source about 3A per port. It can basically max out any charger that's not that stupid OnePlus proprietary one. Not a big deal.
I even like the bezels, because they give you a place to put your hands when holding it in landscape.
I find the suggestion that they should have released another 6" behemoth interesting, because I remember when the N6 was launched there was a lot of grousing that there were no small flagships left. The common refrain was 2 models, one 5.5" and one 5". As someone who loved the Nexus 6 in basically every respect, it's just a tiny bit too big. I am a 6' tall person with normal hands for that height, and I can't reach nearly the whole screen with one hand. It's not a one handed device, at all. The Pixel, on the other hand, seems to be a perfect size, in addition to being better in every respect compared to the at-the-time brilliant Nexus 6.
Also, you can totally get battery percentage with System UI Tuner. Just hold down the settings icon in the notification shade.

well, if you like the look and style of an IPhone, the Pixel XL is a good choice for you; yeah, no stereo speakers is a drag, but I like the Assistant, and it is the fastest phone I have ever used.
the hype is excessive, but thats what we get with everything now a days..

Do you mind if I ask what you like so much about assistant? I really feel like I'm missing something but I can't find anything that makes it better than Google now.

Does your settings gear now have a dim wrench next to it? If so open settings and scroll down to the bottom. You should see "System UI Tuner". Or, you know, you can google it yourself since I gave you all of the relevant information.

Now see here. This is a perfect example. It's all a matter of taste and perspective. The previous google phone users seem to love the Pixel/XL . I come from a long line of Sammy Note phones. Honestly I thought the Note edge was a great phone but with a case on it ..it was a bit to wide for me. actually to me the S6 edge plus was the perfect phone size wise and aesthetically. the 5.7 inch screen and the glass back were perfect. I also have the moto Z force just for the mods. When I think about it, with no bezels and a shortened chin the 5.7 inch screen of the S6 edge+ was basically perfect for me. As far as "wireless" charging I did have to have "fast wireless charging". It's not as fast as a cord with rapid charge but sometimes you just want to sit the phone down and get a quick boost. Not that I'm back to plugging in I do miss fast wireless. Again the assistant is cool, the camera is really decent. anyway.. to each his own. On edit.. thanks for the SUI heads up.. I like it. However,, that mini number in the battery is virtually unreadable.

The one thing I noticed straigh away was the crazy fast response everything on the pixel has compared to the note 7, there would be so many times that the Note 7 would visibly stutter even just a second here and there. Things like opening up and typing on the keybaord instantly would create this minute lag in the interface. I am very picky when it comes to that so I noticed straight away the Pixel is just fast, it doesn't stutter or lag like the note 7 did. Also small things like the speaker is FAR better than the Note 7, it's louder and fully than the 6p even. I hate edge screens too, I couldn't stand the note 7 in that regard, felt uncomfortable to hold compared to the pixel. I'm just so happy that I got a phone that just works ALL THE TIME. That's why I paid the extra $100 over the note 7 for the pixel. And I'm also betting on Google assistant (AI) becoming FAR more integrated and more powerful. All other phones will be missing out I think. Hardware can only go so far, software on the other hand....

Man who needs an SD card now?? I can finally video tape everything in 4k and not worry about memory or ever loosing the footage because it'll always be on the cloud! I legit video tape everything I can now!

I agree on the speed, the note did stutter on me from time to time any this phone doesn't at all really (although I have had a few force closes, possibly the apps fault). The assistant has promise but let's be honest, it's no better than Google now at the moment and by the time it is better, it'll be available on every android phone.
The phone itself to me is just last year's Cadillac with this year's Mercedes price tag.

A lot of people do. Really why drain your battery to access files on line rather than an sd card using less battery power and files on your sd card are a lot safer than the hackable cloud. And there is the extra data you use to access files on line. Sd cards use absolutely no data to access your files and do not eat up battery power so.
1. Sd card files safer than cloud.
2. Sd card uses no data to access your files, so does not eat up your data plan = saves you $$$$
3. Sd card files use less battery power than accessing files on the cloud.

I get that, I'm blessed with unlimited with Verizon but I always only upload to cloud while charging. If anyone is interested in true unlimited data with Verizon, I have an extra line available. I'll only charge 80 a month

Well hard to say, as it has cpu that is newer than last years phone, also has better cameras than phones from last year, and software you can't compare to those phones either. And when compares to phones this year, it's kinda the same. I agree it is overpriced, but they are doing it because they can. If you want the best android experience available, there is only one phone. If you don't want to pay that much then there are great alternatives.

Waterproof - Owned S7 and Note, never seemed to EVER need it unless I was showing someone
Wireless charging - have a stand and still use the cable 90% of the time since it's faster
SD Card - I could see this one as a big point, but most people I know never fill up their phones and the ones who do could easily clear up half of it and improve performance by deleting unused apps and cleaning up the gallery, plus with 120 gigs + unlimited cloud I'm goooood
Gimmicks have made people wanting stuff they use maybe once every 4 months. "I can't have it therefore I need it"
IMO Software performance / day to day use > everything else .
Note 7 is a beast phone but I could honestly say at least once a day I get caught in huge lag spikes when trying open snapchat for a quick photo or even the camera app.
Sacrificing gimmicks for day to day use is worth it 100%

I gave you what you want, sorry. Make the whole display bigger, maybe that will work. Or just open the shade if you need a specific percentage.
