hey I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced this yet, as I can't find any info about this in any forum so far:
Whenever I flash a rom, this issue doesn't show up right away, but it always does, regardless of phone or build. Currently every sms message I send is stuck in a "sending" status on my device. The recipient always gets the message, but my phone thinks that it hasn't been sent. So, whenever I reboot my phone, if I haven't cleared all of my threads, my phone will resend every sent message on my phone. If I flash the same rom on top of itself, it goes away for a few more days, but it always comes back. Again, this is regardless of rom and even phone (D1, Eris, fascinate, DX, and incredible). Does anyone know what could be causing this? At the very least if someone could direct me to the property place to ask this question, I'd appreciate it.

What email account is this happening with?
If its over many phones it could be a problem with the towers around you, try calling verizon about it but get to the to the top of tech support

I don't think it's a tower issue. When I send a message, in handcent there is s spinning wheel next to the message until the phone registers the message as "sent". this happens in it's own way across any and all sms apps on my phone. If I create and send the message in the stock messages app, it will show as sending in my other app and vice-versa. For the record, I have tried this with handcent, chomp sms and go sms.

This definitely sounds like a network issue. Have you tried sending a sms with a "dumb phone" and see if you have the same problem?

No, I haven't. I'll try it tonight when I get home from work. I sent a text to myself last night to test, and while it got to me immediately, it sent itself again 4 hours later. I'm not sure if that means anything significant or not but I'll try using another phone tonight.

This was a known issue with some phones and some SMS/MMS clients. Handcent implemented a fix, not sure about other clients. See this post in android forums for implementing the fix: http://androidforums.com/android-ap...on-without-resending-old-sms.html#post2136469

Thanks for this info!! I'm currently trying go sms again jaded on a reply in that thread, which seems to be working. I want to try the handcent fix, but I don't feel like taking the time to see how well consistently it works and risk text bombing people again. Hopefully some better themes start popping up

Hey guys, for some reason when I have a voicemail, I am getting a text message saying so instead of being able to access them via the visual voicemail app. Does anyone know how to fix his?

Sounds like Sprint might have something needed up on their end. You could use Google voice in the mean time, I prefer that to Sprints because u don't pay extra for it to be transcribed.

Were you using Google Voice for your voicemail on your last phone? I had done that once and needed to actually disable it on the website for my Sprint VVM to work properly.

Except that Google's transcription always looks like "Hi, hello, who is this, let's have chicken, 7, cake!, I like marbles and cheese sauce. Bye"
This seems to be a common problem with people who mess around with 3rd party voicemail.
Try the fix in this thread:

If you are using handcent, make sure you do NOT check the option to make it your default sms client.
I had the same problem using go sms pro. I had to check disable other messages.

Yup. I cleared data in vvm and started from scratch. I may have misread the post I responded to. I took it as he disabled all other msg notifications. He meant he unchecked that option?

You can disable notifications in the stock SMS browser, but don't let the 3rd party app disable anything. They disable the entire stock SMS system, so when you get the signal from Sprint that you have a voicemail (which is in reality an SMS notification), the 3rd party app thinks its a normal text.

Have you been reading my Google Voicemails? They are so bad that I can't even be mad at it. It just makes me laugh. They are just good enough to get the point of the message.

This is such a huge joke ... I spent 2 hours trouble shooting this issue with Sprint and they had NO IDEA that this was the case. Finally, while on hold with 2nd tier Tech Support, I uninstalled GoSMS Pro and then called my voicemail. Viola! It worked. The tech was astounded and submitted it to their bug reporting system as a GoSMS conflict.
I then installed Handcent and everything was fine for a few days until the same problem reappeared. I unchecked the option for Handcent to disable the stock Message app and then went into the stock app and unchecked the box for it to notify me upon receipt of text messages. Everything is working fine.
Now I know it's an issue with all 3rd party SMS apps and wonder if Sprint has a new troubleshooting memo that blames GoSMS for the problem...
HTH,
Chad H
Thanks for all the responses guys. I finally gave up and just installed Google Voice on my phone and after setting it up, I am getting my voicemail notifications via GV without a problem and still have GoSMS installed.
Can I safely delete the Sprint VVM app without any side effects?

I've noticed that I keep getting this text message as stated on the title heading. I want to know if anyone else is getting this and if someone knows what it means.

I have this message at least 15 times in my sms inbox.
Wow... I'm thank god I'm not the only one...
Edit: slightly different, same format. I've only gotten it once or twice, don't recall the relation to LOS... Though I rarely get them.

I'm only relating it to LOS because I'm paying attention to the occurrence and it seems to correlate. actual cause and a direct relationship is still a question.
I have had mutiple LOS and I have not seen a text like that. I get texts from my wife multiple times though. This is getting weirder by the day.
Driving me crazy. I get LOS but not crazy texts, I get missed texts and my friends get texts I send 3 or 4 days later.

Whatever shortcode "mine was 8737" your getting go to sprint.com and block the code or *2 and they will block it for you...
Edit: Actually that didn't work so its not going over the network.
yeah, mine is from the same short code.
question: do of you having this issue also have visual voicemail not working?
i think it's related to voice mail or google voice mail.
i'm getting the same thing.
Also got it when i was on TP2 and EVO.

Blocked the code and still got the same short code...So blocking the code as well as checking my GV messages and not getting the code its something on the phone. Haven't ran a log yet so have no idea whats causing it but didnt start till I used LOSKERNAL.
FIXED!
i found how to fix this and the reason. basically the issue has nothing to do with LOS, other than that is when sprint voicemail is trying sync after the service restarts. i posted the fix for the problem here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1306721
It is voice mail related. I use GV myself. I don't know how or why it happens or how it is related to voice mail but it is. It happens only soon after a restart for me.

Nice, that works. I just froze Go SMS but same idea. I think it's happening to those of us who never ran the voicemail app and just added Google Voice instead.
Hey guys, hopefully I'm not the only one with this issue, though it seems pretty strange. I can receive most texts fine, but from 2 of my friends (as far as I know, maybe more) I only get every second or third text they send to me. This has been happening for the last few months. What these friends seem to have in common is that they both have AT&T and iPhones (one has a 4S, one a 3Gs, both with iOs5). They haven't experienced this issue with anyone else, so I'm assuming the problem is on my end, be it Sprint or my Epic.
Anyone have any idea how to resolve this issue? If it helps, I use Handcent for messaging (although the missing texts don't show up in Stock Messaging either), and rooted running EI22 modem, MarcusantROM v2 MTD with Samurai RONIN5 kernel.
You KNOW our phones are too good to talk to iphones...LOL!
My guess is a down tower near them that is causing this. My work phone is an AT&T and all of a sudden getting "call failed" in lots of areas.
Thanks for the reply, but the issue seems to be happening too often and in too many places (DC, Northern Virginia, Southern Virginia, and South Carolina) to be a faulty tower. And also, it only seems to happen when texting my phone and no one else.
jin, do a prl and profile update on your phone. then power phone off, leave it for about 2 mins. turn back on, and then wait for about 2mins to completely bootup with sprint network, then tell them to text you again, 3x ... see what happens.

send yourself some texts...see what happens..
I can send and receive texts from myself, it's just these 2 pesky AT&T folk..
it's on their end. if you can receive messages on your end, than it's for sure on their end.
I had a similar issue, I was connected with Google voice and using go SMS. Some people only received every other text or singing like that and one friend was texting me all day yesterday and I never got it but she got mine. I seemed to have asked the issue by disabling Google voice completely. I didn't want to since I liked the features, but it's they only thing I child do to make it work.

Hmm I used google voice for a little while half a year ago but then deactivated it (the integration with sprint at least, I still use it for international calls). I doubt that has something to do with the problem for me.
Stop texts from breaking up, How?
Every time I get a long text message it's broken up into multiple messages, it's annoying because sometimes they dont all come in at the same time, or they do and i think i have a **** ton of msgs lol. It's the same on the stock messaging app and google's messaging app. Is there a setting somewhere that I've missed? It's happened with incoming msgs from iphones and android phones on different carriers.

There is little you can do, it is the carrier of the sender that is doing it. Many carriers limit the number of characters you can have per text. So if they go over it gets broken into multiple text messages. It is not an issue on your end.
I also hate this.. When I had att I didn't have this problem..
Wasn't there an option to send messages bigger then a # of characters through MMS instead of using normal split SMS?

Yes I think there is. This is for sending messages though. When receiving a message it depends on how the senders app sends it.

Just a guess, but I'd say it's likely due to being Google's app and having tighter integration with the framework than carrier based bloat.

Just tried this sending myself a very long text via Wi-Fi on Sprint messaging app; it does work to combine the messages without converting to MMS.
Like others have said variables may limit results. My wife is also on my Sprint account using an iPhone 5 and her messages to me split from what I can see; don't know if hers from me split or not. Cross platform texting hasn't been reliable.
Have you tried the setting?

Initially failed to Motorola Photon Q. Had found the setting and enabled it and rebooted the phone; split the long message into 4 out-of-order texts. Did the System settings/System update/Update Profile on both phones and it works both ways. Sent the same text to to the iPhone 5 and it split. I've asked my wife to update her profile but she's busy; will try again later.
On my phone, had to defrost Samsung DM Service and reinstall Sprint Zone and let it update and opt out of EUL anonymous data sharing, agree to terms before I could update the profile.
BTW, combining the long text and sending a short text after that may have the shorter message arriving first. I actually sent an inquiry after getting notification that the long text test message had been forwarded back to me. The notice and inquiry went through before I got the combined message sent first.
I don't know if it happened to me or not.. never pay attention to it....gotta test later to see if if it's the same problem
How long is long. . I tested by sending to myself. But don't know if it is long enough.
My test text message consists of 80 words which was splitting into 4 text messages. Seems to be working between two different Android phones but still unknown if profile update will get it working cross-platform to/from iPhone. The Sprint iPhone 5 on the account seems to frequently have inability to sync texts with Android over Wi-Fi. Sometimes, it's just texting in general that the iPhone 5 loses.
For testing, just kept using the same message forwarded until it was received by both phones without the split.
May be wrong but sending it to yourself may only be an indication your phone can combine. It takes the profile update to tell Sprint you wish to use the combining method which appears to be an exception to every phone. Being on Gingerbread and CM for a long time, this is the first time I've seen the combining feature. About time! Hope it continues to work without frequent profile updates then broke again/update again.
This doesn't make sense. .i sent to my wife iPhone.. she received one full message but when she sent to me using the same text message it broke up to 4...wth

Did you perform the profile update on both phones? Does the Sprint iPhone have the combine text option for texts?
I haven't tried the profile update and retest with the iPhone 5 yet. Haven't seen the the settings menu on the iPhone 5, either. I think that phone is still on iOS7; afraid the update would result in early upgrade.
Not on the iPhone just the note 4
Open the stock messaging app and go to text message settings and make sure auto combination is checked.
