You do understand that you're contradicting yourself, don't you? Custom. Stock. Custom. Stock.

I'm using custom rom, and he's on stock rom. So I'm not sure if the option he's looking for is at the same menu as stock. It follows on from the set of instructions I listed for him to enable that feature. If you had bothered to read it, clearly I didn't contradict myself.

i'm using Paranoid Custom rom , it is the best room , and it is have this feature .

He didn't want a custom ROM (I don't know why since he has a Nexus but I'm sure he'll have his reasons). And there is no such thing as the best custom ROM. It's personal prefrence..

Main reason to root galaxy nexus

Eventually I will be rooting my nexus but I'm wondering what is out right now that is worth rooting?
I know this phone is fairly new so I know there are betas out there
Is there a rom that is pretty solid?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2
Being that it's a nexus...
The roms are built (primarily) from source. And otherwise cherry-picked from other roms.
As such, they are ALL very stable, that I've seen.
The choice is yours.
Root access adds so much to the device...even without a custom rom.
The ability to back your system up.
Back up user apps to transfer to future devices/restore on your current device in the case of failure of some sort...
Better battery life from custom kernels/tweaks/etc.
Pretty much this

There are loads of good roms, just about every one is non beta. Aokp is the most popular one, paradigm is good, cyan next.
Thanks everyone
Hopefully there is a one click root for the cdma gnex soon

if you're just rooted, you cant switch kernels unless you're also unlocked.

This is incorrect. Of course you can flash whatever kernel you want if you have root. No need for an unlocked bootloader. (This isn't a Motorola device...)

You can flash kernels on the fly, with Android running, so this its correct, you dont need a unlocked bootloader to flash kernels...

main reason to root.. custom roms of course. Other good reasons are AdAway and DroidWall (good to block apps from using 3g if you have a crappy data allowance like me)

one problem tho, it seems that the custom recovery wont stick, when i try and reboot into recovery i get this android with a red yield sign thing
I think custom recovery won't stick on stock rom, it resets itself

Q. I flashed CWM but each time I reboot the Stock Recovery is back
There is an auto recovery restore system on Android that will reflash the Stock Recovery if you flash CWM on a Stock Rom.
Use Root Explorer to Mount the system folder as R/W (or use a free app from the Market). Delete the file recovery-from-boot.p from /system. Now when you flash CWM Recovery it will NOT be overwritten after a reboot.

Or use Rom Manager (free) from the market.
It'll remove that file as well.
I got it all working now thank you everyone for the help !

[Q] Can't make screens anymore

Hi,
I can't make screens anymore by pushing the power button and the volume down rocker. I think this doesn't work anymore since 4.2(.1).
Is there a way to fix or debug this?
I'm using an GN from the UK with the stock rom.
Thanks

Thanks to [email protected] for odexed versions.

I tried this on JWR66V and it has a couple bugs. When in landscape mode it foes back to the original stock navbar size. Also when using a custom wallpaper ie. From gallery or even stock wallpaper...the space that was supposed to add screen space right above the navbar is still black only on the home screens. Once using apps they use that space properly. Also the back button icon is larger than the others.
Running on Nexus 4 stock

[Q] Confused.. Ditto rom or Tigra rom?

Hello,
I am confused between ditto rom and tigra rom.. which one should I use? Anyone tried both?
Thanks!
Try both, Use one for a week and then another.
There is no more Tigra ROM. E team complained bitterly about Tigra dev using their N3 apps, so Petra had to remove his Tigra ROM.
I could go on about the manner in which E team handled their concerns, but I won't.
Tigra thread offers a MOD which modifies your leaked 4.3 ROM to have same tweaks his ROM used to have.

The main visible feature is that it replaces "Android system recovery 3E" and CWM 6.0.2 with 6.0.3 (slightly different interface with more features and the broken adb-sideload mode moved out of the way).
It also has an optional variant with softkeys as an alternative to the volume+power commands.
Everything else is behind the scenes or technical, like the different schedulers (which in my opinion are in practice mostly equivalent)...
