Were you on JMZ ICS or JB? If you were on JB, and you activated Android Device Manager, you should be able to use it to lock and locate your phone.

Hey guys,
I'm a total noob and will probably make a total fool of myself with my questions..
I had the Virgin Mobile HTC WFS (marvelc) phone in the states... Now I'm back in India and need to switch networks.. For that I've been told I need to unlock the phone and install a new OS (basically drop the virgin OS).. I've got the procedure and the files to s-off and root the phone.. what should I do next?
Thanks for any help!!

Call virgin mobile and get the 6 digit msl code for your wildfire s, that will unlock it, but
i dont think you could use the phone on another network, unless maybe you flash another firm ware? maybe a member here can chime in on this

Could you probably also tell me which one would be a stable firmware to flash onto the phone?

Not sure of "stable" but someone has made CM9 for marvelc/virgin mobile phones. The creator of it has also made multiple ROMs for marvelc if you go to his profile. Heres the link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1714550

I've looked around quite a bit actually and have found a thread with a few firmwares... However, these all seem to be still in beta mode.. It would be great if anyone could tell me whether any of the rom's from the following link could be used for my purpose??

Are there CDMA networks in India? If so, then help can be given. If there are only GSM phones in India, then you will have to get a new phone.
A GSM radio (and especially a full RUU) CANNOT be flashed on a CDMA phone. It will NOT work; you will brick your device.

@kalaker-There are a few CDMA networks around here.....so there musn't be any problem as far as Radio is concerened
@agarwalayush-S-OFF your phone,root it.....insert the CDMA sim you want.....and wait a bit.
The main dev of CM9(Modpunk) is bringing support to Marvelc(he added it in the current release but it doesnt seem to work correctly as of now)

You don't have a SIM card on CDMA. Only GSM networks have SIM cards.
Also, Simon already has a stable (for a beta) build in his CM9 thread for Marvelc. Modpunk will have to start a new branch to full support Marvelc.

The only one is beta version. It's a good, stable ROM, though.
The link is in the second post in the thread.
Known Issues:
No Camera
No Bluetooth
No Wi-Fi tether
my only thought is if you had an India cdma phone that's active you can back up the AAA key and flash that to your phone (its not like flashing a ROM)

Most interesting post i did not know the msl/spc unlocks the phone will try this , but also you did have to call virgin to get that code that from using CDMA Workshop 2.7 or CDMA Workshop 3.5 demo

S-off, root, install custom recovery like cwm. Then you can flash one of the many roms for the marvelc.

Hi all,
sorry for my lack of knowledge, I'm a brand new HTC One X owner. I'd like to have the very standard software (ICS in this case) without the branding of T-Mobile. I've bought my phone in Poland (Europe Version).
Any step-by-step tutorials in here? I surely don't want to brick my new phone
not 100% sure on this but think only one way to debrand that is to unlock bootloader and root then install custom rom could be wrong tho

Well, I've got no problem with unlocking the bootloader etc. but I would like to have the normal ICS with HTC's Sense on the phone rather than some cyanogenmod or something along those lines. If anyone can help me out with the needed files and a step-by-step how-to (I'm not dumb when technology is involved, but I have absolutely no contact with the moding scene of Smartphones).

I think ARHD is meant to be pretty close to the standard sense experience. Cyanogen is a good release though, but maybe wait until its more stable on one x?

While i might instal this rom one day, I'd like to give the stock version a try. I don't want all the bull**** from t-mobile though The bootanimation alone is kinda ruining the experience for me

ARHD is a stock Rom tweaked to make it even better. you will find it much better, that is the only way to remove it, or rooting and flashing another boot animation
Easiest way I found was to unlock bootloader, root then delete all the carrier bloat you don't want and then flash a new bootanimation

Since you still opt for ICS the ARHD is the best alternative choice! Just search the thread on the XDA Developer you'll find it.
I have a T-Mob as well but flashed on CM10 for JellyBean and so far works great!
Hello guys,
Before you start shooting let me just say I've rooted since maybe a year and a half ago my Samsung Galaxy S Captivate and have flashed it so many times that I've lost count. So now that phone belongs to my sister and I got my HTC ONE X since maybe 6 months ago. I didn't really had the need to root or flash the phone since I was waiting anxiously for that new Jelly Bean update and have ever since but my hopes are very low right now. I have no idea why they're taking so long to hit us with that dam update. So, this is why I've decided to start looking for info on how t root and flash my One X and I'm guessing that the method to root and flash it might be different so if any one can take me to the right path I would truly appreciate it. Thanks in advance! :cyclops:
You are in the wrong forum mate, you have to go to the at&t HTC one x forum

This. Don't do the silly thing and flash anything in this forum. The US One X is called the One XL, which has their own forum with working guides and ROMs + recoveries
Ok guys, straight forward... can or can I not use Team Venom ViperX 2.7.1 - Sense 4.1 Rom?
Cause what Im understanding is that I shouldn't use XDA forum at all.
I gotta one x att the cid overwrite doesn't work...I'm not looking for a solution immediately but is anyone else having the same problem with the cid overwrite package...?

Hi team,
Firstly i am pretty inexperienced with Android - get that out of the way!
My wife was given a HTC Desire 816w by her parents in China - phone seems cool but its locked out of the Google Store. The phone itself works here (New Zealand) for texts, calls etc.
So:
1. How do i either unlock the google store or
2. how do i flash a custom rom to this phone?
Hopefully you guys can help

if someone please direct me to instruction manual here on how to root and flash my htc one m8 i would appreciate it. plus if anyone can recommand a good ROM to flash with sense in it, and if there is one that has the option to lock the screen so i won't keep accidently delete widgets that i work long time to adjust (i know this option exist on some other user interface program other then sense but i don't like it)
thanks,

Hi! I'm not OP, but I would also like to root my M8 so please don't mind me intruding..
I have a T-Mobile M8 on Android M (6.0), sense 7.
Is there a root available for it?
Thanks
I bought my device in germant back in the day, so i think it's European version unlocked. I add below the screen shots of the "about" section of the settings, doesn't tell me a lot
