I have fastboot enabled, and it usually takes about 5 seconds to boot up, right?. But my HOX has surprised me for a while, by booting up instantly, without boot screen, just vibration, and whoosh!, I'm seeing my lockscreen. Just for the sake of curiousity, does this happen to you guys too?

I want to know if anyone knows what the problem/solution of this is. I have a 0003 Evo, the panel that only supports 3 pt touch, ROM doesnt matter, on the ENG HBOOT for CM, AMON RA 2.3
That sums up my phone, the problem is I'm always stuck at the splash screen for 3-4 minutes when booting up. If im booting to Bootloader or Recovery it's quick, hot reboot never reaches the splash screen so thats whatever, but reboot, or powering down then turning on my evo gets me stuck at the splash screen for quite some time. This is my second evo, and continues to do this despite the ROM I use and despite the splash screen image I use. Whats the problem/fix because so far it's only this specific evo.. I've tried google, everyone is complaining about erasing boot, that isnt my problem since everything else of the phone works just fine.

Anyway, are you wiping data/cache/dalvik everytime you flash a new rom?

What exactly is the problem? It takes a long time to boot? You said it boots up eventually, or I assumed that since you said everything else on the phone works fine.

when i boot up, it is stuck on the splash screen for 3-4 minutes, and then boots up normally. I'm wondering if all that time on the splash screen is normal or if i screwed something up since it takes so long to get to the boot animation
mine takes that long

That's not abnormal. My phone takes anywhere between 30 seconds and 4 minutes to get past the splash screen. This is especially apparent if you've just flashed something. Don't worry, it's just your phone loading

You can by staying on a rom (Of course only to a certain point)
I don't know if I'd say mine stays at the white htc screen for 3-4 min, but close to a good min for sure. Have you actually timed it at 3-4 min?
Once it reaches the boot animation, it's typically ~30 seconds before the UI comes up.

yeah I have timed it, came out to 230 on avg with peaks at 3 minutes but generally around 230. I unrooted, then re-rooted my phone to get the latest hboot 2.1 and see if i screwed something up when rooting and after i unrooted i got past the splash screen quickly, and after rooting it still got past quickly. could it have been my hboot? i was on 0.76, gonna flash 0.93 if i cant keep the current hboot and have Salvage GB at the same time

I suppose it could be the hboot ver, but am not familiar enough with it to say for sure. It's been over a month since I had hboot 2.10, and I don't reboot the phone THAT often to pay much attention to it. FWIW, I've compared mine (hw ver 0003) to a launch day 100% stock evo. Both go through the splash and animation in roughly equal time.
Yours might be delayed because you're running GB?
Hi,I managed to root my desire and now I just need to flash rom. But I cant get into recovery menu.I tryed with rom manager, tryed with power+ volume up. Both end up same : phone starts vibrating and just shows htc logo in white screen. Can any1 help me with this problem? Also, I downloaded Cpu tuner in hopes that my phone would stop rerstarting. But that dont seem to work...max - 998, min - 245. Maybe I should make max lower ? It restarts in apps. 10 min. max of any app/game and restart. While I watch movie it happens only 1 time in middle. Also when I'am charging it,it can restart even while I'm scrolling in menu.
Put the phone in refrigerator for only 5 minutes and then start the recovery. If it still restarts then flash your desired ROM while keeping the phone into refrigerator.

Well that sounds crazy but logical
Yeah its sound crazy but this is the solution right now for boot loop problem caused by increased temperature of mainboard.
Before executing the refrigerator trick, ensure that you don't have any software problem by factory resetting.

Yes,I know. But when I select recovery my phone just starts vibrating and shows just htc logo. I read somewhere that then you need to press power+vol up. Anyway that dont work for me Anyway. I downloaded Radio 32.56.00.32U so I wanna ask how to install it and will I be able to use my phone for calling and texting? I mean maybe it changes something?
first hit volume down and then power button if u do vice versa phone will restart. simple

K,DevNull works. But not how I expected it to. Phone still restarts when I use almost any app or game. Maybe some1 have any idea why?
what about your recovery? it solved? the restart problem might be caused by over heating the mainboard.. Max of 998mhz is the normal clock of the snapdragon cpu and must not make any problem... if force close problems do Fix Permissions by recovery (if recovery is present, if not reply so I'll guide you through flashing of recovery process..)
Good Luck

Well mine at least turns on
Hi there.
Erm... It seems like I lost it.
It's rebooting every 2, sometimes 3 to 5 seconds. I can't do anything, and reaching the bootloader doesn't keep it alive. Battery was fine, 70% the last time I saw, less than a hour ago. Putting it in the charger didn't make any difference as well.
I managed to reach "power off" in bootloader, waited a few minutes and tried again, but it didn't work. Also, After I turn it off like this, it only returns to the rebooting state if I connect it to a power source.
Anything I can do?
Now, if I try using volume up or down, It'll just go between the HBOOT - FASTBOOT sets of options, thus I can't reach "POWER OFF" anymore.

Plug in phone to PC. Open CMD and navigate to fastboot folder. Type adb reboot-bootloader. Wait a few seconds then type in fastboot erase cache. Worth a try anyways!

I left it charging for a while on the computer and then flashed the ruu.. u need to have HTC sync installed on ur computer else it wouldnt recognize ur device

I left it alone rebooting itself until it stopped - seemingly out of battery.
Put it on the computer and it's just rebooting again, like before.
Maybe something oxidated inside?
I can fix it. But only on custom ROMs. Why? Because it's propably boot.img problem. I had it too, when flashed wrong boot.img in Sense ROMs. Try to reflash the RUU.

Nope, you clearly didn't see the video and read the issue. If I have only a 3-second time window, and bootloader does NOT work, and nothing manages to make the phone keeps itself on for more than 3 seconds, how can a RUU be flashed, since a computer CAN'T detect it during such primordial boot step?

Hopefully someone could give a few more opinions before I throw this thing in the trash can... I'm still having the reboot issue... I can use it for hours on end as long as the screen is on. It will stay on if its connected to any power source... But when its not plugged in and the screen locks it reboots about 3 seconds later...
Didn't do this before I took the 2.35 ota.. I've tried 15 different ROMs, different kernels, I tried overclocking and trying to get rid of deep sleep. Don't know what else to do. I'd love to try to raise the voltage but every kernel/ROM I use doesn't give me that option.
Also I'd like to mention when I boot into bootloader it immediately searches for pd98img.zip. is this normal? I never seen another boot loader look for a certain file.
Anyway, any help will be appreciated... I'd hate to get rid of this phone if its fixable...

The HTC legend always looks for legimg.zip or simular file name when booting into bootloader..
If you can't boot into android at all, even though you tried lots of roms and kernels it sounds to me like something has fried.

No no the phone boots and works well. But if the phone just sits there and the screen goes dark to lock itself it'll do a quick reboot. If I lock it myself it'll do a quick reboot. However when its plugged in to a charger it won't reboot if that makes sense... Its like the screen doesn't like to be off when its off the charger lol

Hey
If it goes straight into the bootloader, then it sounds like something has fried inside or there is something stopping it booting.
Have you flashed the boot.img with each ROM?
And yes, if it looks for a PD198IMG.zip it is normal.
If you need some extra help, post in the Ace Think Tank & you'll get some help pretty quickly
Ugh sorry guys I may have trouble explaining what its doing... It doesn't boot straight to bootloader.. .. It boots straight into the ROM like its supposed to. (CodefireX)... the device works flawlessly. Till the screen dims and sleeps. Then it reboots automatically. If I set the display option to sleep after 10 minutes, it works awesome for 10 minutes. Till it sleeps. Then it reboots. If I put it on the charger, the random reboots stop, and im able to lock and unlock the device like normal... If i unplug it while the screen is off, it reboots automatically...
I only posted a picture of bootloader to let you guys know which version hboot I have and s-on etc.
I shot a little video of it doing it. However for some reason YouTube won't allow me to upload.. And I'm scared a 2 minute 30 second video will rape my data plan if I upload to drop box....

Have you tried replacing the battery?
No... That thought came across me also.. I'll stop by RadioShack today if I get a chance...
But it still makes me wonder... It didn't do this before I took that update... I'll flash early ROM and see if the aahk will take to it so it'll s-off... Then I'll try to run the original RUU... If its still rebooting like that I'll get another battery for sure...
Is there ANY custom kernels that'll let me play with the voltage? I haven't seen one yet that'll brings up a voltage tab in any freq app.. Tried a few kernels sense and aosp... Tried kernel tuner, setcpu, voltage adjuster, and no frills

5 second boot time was because the phone was never shutting down, "fastboot" option was ticked in power and it made the phone go into a type of hibernate power state. It was never off, that's why it booted so fast. That's why even if you had an alarm set, it ringed.
