Just received my N7 today. When I have the volume
turned up I can feel the back of the N7 vibrate. Is this
normal on your N7?

Mine does not. However I wish I could say it reach a volume capable of producing that effect
Mine doesn't either. Might wanna swap they one out for another one. If it's already rattling on day 1, it's gonna horrible later on!!
To the previous poster: I'm actually pretty impressed with the sound that comes out of such a little tablet!! Sound quality and loudness are both MUCH better than what I was expecting!,

Mine vibrates my hands. Sound is adequate at best, battery life is not what they claim.

Thats interesting. My speakers aren't rattling I can just feel the bass/lows vibrating the back of the case when i'm holding it.
edit: I should add that the vibration is more pronounced when i turn the volume up to higher levels

Cool i'm glad i'm not the only one. I do agree that the sound is adequate.
Yeah I can feel the vibrations from the audio if I turn the volume above 50% or so...

Every phone I've had prior to this, all Androids and even the iPhone 4 I had for 4 weeks had a louder speaker. Is there any way to jack the speaker volume up because I can't hear ringtones or notifications for anything.
And sorry for posting this here and not Q&A, I literally just realized this wasn't Q&A.
Get Volume+ by meltus on the market. Works fantastic. The free version is crap though. It only ups it 30% of what is possible, and there's really no difference as far as I can tell.
Don't kick it up too high though. Seriously.
It was designed for GB in mind, but it still works on the GN ICS.

+1 kicking it up too high would cause it break. Someone should really make a MOD to up the volume without this app though. Would be helpful.
I guess I should consider myself lucky. Speaker is significantly louder than my previous phone.
Thanks much guys. Oh and I definitely am aware of the too high volume, I'm a DJ and I can't stand distorted sounds, and not only that it could break the speaker.
On Market, Volume+ is described as only working with rooted phones.
Is there any way to fix this on a standard phone? I'm still in my 14 day return period. Can't root yet!

Why do they put it on the bottom does not make sense. If you have it in your pocket and and plug in a headset for example... doesn't make very good for the cord run.

Hmmm, I always put my phone in my pocket upside down so that when I pull it out it's rightside up, so audio jack on bottom is perfect for headset plugin.
It's when I'm using nav and music in the car that's going to be tricky. Landscape ftw? Dock?
I am on my third replacement phone (last one the LED notification didn't work) and now I am noticing that there is a very faint 'Pop' sound emitted from the speaker phone 3 seconds after there is a system audio sound. For instance, every time I hit the Home button or unlock the phone, I hear the 'Pop' three seconds later.
Does anyone else have this problem? If I have headphones plugged in, I do not hear the sound through the headphones.
Thanks!
Dude is it possible that u have the lock n unlock sounds enabled?

Yes I do have the sounds enabled and I hear those fine. I am hearing an additional click/pop noise 3 seconds later. It makes the sound pretty much every time the phone makes noise. It's very faint.
From what I've read this is a pretty common problem. Mine does this as well but honestly I can only hear it when its quiet.
There's also another thread on this topic but I don't believe there was really conclusion.
Mine and a bunch of nexi at my local best buy suffer from this. It is not dependent on lock sounds it's a problem with the DAC I believe

Gotcha. Are you boosting your volume with volume+ or any other app?
Thank you for the replies. I'm glad to hear I'm not alone.
I have the same problem. I posted a thread yesterday, and there's another one (i didn't see it before posting mine).
That's a pretty annoying issue, i used to have the same thing on my unibody MacBook (fixed with an unofficial software patch), and once you hear it, well, you can't unhear it.
I hope this is not a hardware issue and can be fixed by some patch, but no one seems to care about this one (maybe not all GN have this problem?)
I decided to just disable all touch tones since it was bothering me too much. Just out of curiosity I checked another Nexus and the pop is still there but could only be heard by literally holding the speaker phone to my ear. Not nearly as loud as mine.

Yeah dude.... same. I actually started the original thread on this. Its so annoying hey.... I hear ya man. I dunno, I did the same as you, disabled touch sounds. Its sounds cheap doesn't it.
I really hope its software related. I was trying to find out if, just a bit of 007 work, Haha, if it was maybe the build? Seeing if the people with a Google updated nexus's had the issue compared to people with the Samsung updated ones. I wonder if there a connection....

How is the sound from the new speakers? It was absolutely TERRIBLE on my Nexus 7 2012 as we all know. I am hoping it's far LOUDER and maybe even a little better quality?

Not quite as bass rich as the Kindle Fire HD, but pretty damned impressive.
Speaker Hissing Noise
I have noticed hissing noise from the speakers when playing back music at less than 25% volume.
Seems to go away once volume is set above 25%.
This hissing noise is not there when playing back through earbuds with the same volume levels.
Just wondering if anyone has noticed the same thing on theirs.

Yup mine has this. I am hoping for a kernel or some apps that can adjust the sound to fix this annoying issue.

sound is much improved over the 1st gen though. no need to "cup" the speakers at all.

Yes, see my post here with an excellent response from a pro audio engineer:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2383248
Though I don't get how it can be the preprocessing hardware if it still sounds good over headphones. Waiting to see if he responds to that question.
To me the total volume output seems about the same (since the 4.3 update my old 7 seems louder) but the new 7 has more depth. With my 7.1 the volume was all most non-existant until after 50%. On the 7.2 the volume is pretty good at 50%.

I'm not very happy with the headphone output. My iPad was significantly louder with the same headphones. Anyone have any recommendations for improvement? My HTC one is fantastic with headphones in.

It doesn't sound very good if you've heard the HTC One but compared to the OG Nexus 7 it's a large improvement.

HI
I just got my nexus 5X yesterday but there is an annoying sound when i press some button or unlock the phone. i can not find where should i turn off this sounds. Any idea? It sounds like windows 98!!!
on youtube you can find a sample video what i mean just search: Nexus 5X Strange sounds
Is it vibrating when you hear the "sounds"? There have been some people that have a vibration motor that seems to make an audible sound.

You mean they don't all do that? I ordered two and they both do it. Doesn't bother me, though. I got an 6P also but I'm liking this phone for the feel. 6P outperforms this phone but it is big and heavy.
Just wanted to make sure, but can you feel vibrations in your phone at full volume when playing music or making a call at full volume?

Lol, so does mine actually. My note 9 didn't do that, so it is definitely different from that.
Mine vibrates as well. Sounds pretty good though!

Yes mine does same. Kinda annoying when you're holding it watching youtube. I must say this phone sounds good though.... well for phone speakers
When ip68 began appearing in these devices, the usual complain was low speaker volume, now, samsung increased speakers volume, so, some vibration is perceived
