Greetings,
I dropped my Galaxy SIII pretty hard and the screen went purple for a bit, then completely black. The phone appears to be working (vibrating on startup, back and menu buttons light up) I hear that the screen and digitizer are busted. Luckly, I insured the phone so I can get another.
Phone is completely stock ROM
Phone is NOT rooted
Debugging Mode is NOT on
USB mode only can be activated by swipe down
I tried running AndroidScreenCast, but my phone's serial does not appear when running adb devices.
Is there any other way?
Bonus points - Can I hook up an HDMI cable from mini-usb and view the screen? Can I use a usb hub and have a kb, mouse AND hdmi cable?
Bump
Will HDMI cable work? I don't want to purchase one and have it not work!
You can try using push adb to launch file explorer on windows, pull off all oh your data and then replace your phone. Happened to me a few months ago, but I chose to replace the screen myself.

Thanks for the reply. How much was the screen? Was it hard to replace?
I have warranty, but it is a $200 deductible.

Howdy Folks,
I'm looking for some help, because my Galaxy Nexus is kinda frustrating me right now.
For some reason my Galaxy Nexus does not charge anymore, unless I shut my Phone down en while it's rebooting plugging it in.
This part is the same when charging it by the 3 dot connect on the side, or the USB port.
I have not been able to find a fix for this problem, so I would like to uninstall superuser. And Lock my phone again so I can send it back to get it fixed.
But I can't figure out how, Cause my laptop or any other computer i've tried it on. Does not recognize my device..
Could Someone help me restock my phone, without the use of USB.

Started with the same problem yesterday. Y did notice that if I shut Orr the phone, while in the process, right before shutting off, battery icon jumps to charging.
So I uninstalled some apps I recently downloaded and now it charges.
So. It maybe some app affecting some service. Also use a small brush to clean the connectors in the adapter and phone

Thanks but I'm sure its not a faulty connector. Cause my 3 dot docking station gives the same results. I have had this problem for a month now. Didn't download any apps at the time. I've also did a factory reset. No results. And a reset in recovery mode. But the strange thing about it is. Even thou it wiped all my apps except superuser. It did not remove my music and photos.

Out of nowhere, my screen just turn blank. Tried to restart, there is a bootup sound but doesnt show any visual on the screen.
Removed and replace battery, still same.
When restart there will be black screen with small dots appearing until attached pic.
HELPPPPPPPPPPPPPP!!
Can't connect to Kies coz it requires password that i cant enter.
Can you go into download mode or recovery mode normally ?
Did you ever root ? If yes, what kind of things have you flashed like kernel etc.

nope, cant see anything, never root before

4.1.2, screen died, replaced it and its working perfectly now
Did you actually replaced the whole lcd assy. Or reseated the ribbon mulri connecror to the board ? I used to have this alot with my blueangel and ended up putting a bit blue tack behind the connector.

So I found out what the problem was. I watched the video awhile ago and it said the smart dock had a hard time powering other things hooked up to the dock and they were not kidding. I had it plugged into an extension cable that also had a lamp plugged in. Even though the lamp wasnt even on it must have been pulling enough power so the dock couldnt power my mouse and key board. Long story short make sure you plug it directly into the wall. The extension cord works I just cant have the lamp plugged at all.

So. My sister recently got a Verizon Galaxy S4 (i have no idea what model # or anything, as she lives on the other side of town) and she recently dropped it down some concrete stairs. She ended up breaking the screen (and possibly the digitizer) but the device still turns on. The blue light in the top left comes on, and the soft keys light up. Shes in desperate need of help because parts of her upcoming wedding plans (stored in pics, docs, and pdfs) are trapped inside this now half broken phone. She is unrooted, did not have USB debug enabled, and had a pin code on her phone. Is there any way i can adb in, or connect it to some program (win7) that would be able to pull all her internal sd card files and dump them on my computer? Any help is much appreciated.

So far i had 2 thoughts: have you tried plugging the device into Win7 and seeing if the regular mtp storage will work? Also if you had or could acquire an adapter to plug the phone into an hdmi tv, you might be able to send or upload the needed files somewhere, and/or enable usb debugging that way.
The pin lock might be a pain, but you could try guess-pressing the screen to unlock it. Otherwise you might be looking at also somehow using another adapter to plug in a usb keyboard.
I hope this gets the idea ball rolling anyway also you might be able to go into Download mode, even tho you can't see it, then flash a custom recovery where adb does work.
Plug it into a computer and take the files from the phone and add it to the computer.
If that doesn't work.
Buy an MHL HDMI adapter for our S4 from Ebay so you can connect to a television to see the screen there.
Hope it helps.

The screen on my Galaxy Tab S 10.5 has quit working. I just get a few horizontal yellow lines and flickering. I am not able to see anything on the screen so I can't reset via the buttons on the unit. It was an ebay purchase through Quickship electronics and I want to return it, but it quit while still in use and logged into chrome. So everything is synced and I would like to get my data off the unit before sending it back. If anyone can walk me through a reset to get my data off the unit via ADB I would be very grateful. The unit is not rooted.
There are several options, but first have you tried to get into recovery?

I tried using the power and volume down buttons, but with no display, I don't know if it actually worked or not. But thinking about it now, I did not enable debugging before the screen went down, so I am not sure if I can do anything now.
