Broke screen. Need to retrieve internal sd. - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S 4

So. My sister recently got a Verizon Galaxy S4 (i have no idea what model # or anything, as she lives on the other side of town) and she recently dropped it down some concrete stairs. She ended up breaking the screen (and possibly the digitizer) but the device still turns on. The blue light in the top left comes on, and the soft keys light up. Shes in desperate need of help because parts of her upcoming wedding plans (stored in pics, docs, and pdfs) are trapped inside this now half broken phone. She is unrooted, did not have USB debug enabled, and had a pin code on her phone. Is there any way i can adb in, or connect it to some program (win7) that would be able to pull all her internal sd card files and dump them on my computer? Any help is much appreciated.

So far i had 2 thoughts: have you tried plugging the device into Win7 and seeing if the regular mtp storage will work? Also if you had or could acquire an adapter to plug the phone into an hdmi tv, you might be able to send or upload the needed files somewhere, and/or enable usb debugging that way.
The pin lock might be a pain, but you could try guess-pressing the screen to unlock it. Otherwise you might be looking at also somehow using another adapter to plug in a usb keyboard.
I hope this gets the idea ball rolling anyway also you might be able to go into Download mode, even tho you can't see it, then flash a custom recovery where adb does work.

Plug it into a computer and take the files from the phone and add it to the computer.
If that doesn't work.
Buy an MHL HDMI adapter for our S4 from Ebay so you can connect to a television to see the screen there.
Hope it helps.

can i flash with bluetooth?

I have bought BA and im very happy with it.... but i dont have any cable for it and i wanna flash from wm03se (original system) to wm05 can i do that with bluetooth? I live in serbia and a cable for him is very expensive... anyone help please???
I have another question, when press down on buttons below those four buttons on front of the phone i need a little harder to press, same to answer button, can i clean it somehow.... THANKS
I seriously doubt it, as flashing requires rewriting the internal memory, that AFAIL can only be done when the device is in bootloader.
Is there any other way to flash phone? And please help me about buttons??
You can flash through the memory card if you can't do it via sync cable.
Can anyone show how to flash through memory card step by step? or drop some link here?? THANKs
As a start, I'd try the wiki. http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=HTC_Blueangel
i have read all about flashing but have not found how to flash with memory card... please help... thanks
I dont want to be annoying but HELP!!!! please
If you can't find anything on SD Card flashing, it may not be possible with your device.
I was hoping this was possible as well.
The BA I just got from Ebay stopped working while connected to the cradle or sync cable. When I first plugged it in to my sync cable I noticed it was kind of wobbly, and instead of showing the amber charging light it showed the red light. Putting it in the cradle it wouldn't do anything either until I left it on for a few hours then tried to do a hard reset.
After that it still wouldn't work on the sync cable, but did work on the cradle. So I flashed it from the original ROM to one of Xplodes to see if that would help. Well it works fine and I was able to upgrade on the cradle, but it still wouldn't work on just the sync cable.
Just yesterday when I tried to plug it into the sync cable again to see if it at least would charge while on it, I noticed that when it was on and I plugged it in the screen dimmed with a bunch of lines eating away at the screen. Finding that odd I unplugged the sync cable, rebooted it (worked fine) and put it back on the cradle. The moment it came in contact with the connection it again dimmed and got the wierd garbled screen, eventually going black and showing the red light instead of the amber light.
I also just noticed that the phone doesn't work. I was so worried about setting the thing up that I didn't even check that basic functionality!
So, here I have a BA that doesn't have a working phone, and can't be synced. The wi-fi seemed to work at least.
So is there any way to change the ROM back to OEM using the SD card, bluetooth, IRDA, or wi-fi? At least then I can try and send the thing back to the Ebayer I got it from. If I send it back now they'd see I have WM 6.1 on it and probably tell me I'm SOL.

[Q] Plugging In Phone to Computer

When I plug my evo into my computer, the screen that asks what I want to do is no longer showing up. I looked in the settings and the button is clicked on that I want it to show up. Still nothing. Any suggestions? Cause I want to move zip file to phone and I cant choose change it to disk drive
I have that happen occasionally. Normally, rebooting the phone does the trick (unplug, reboot, plug back in.) Sometimes I have to switch which USB port I'm using on the computer.
the other guy was right, this happenes to me too. All you wanna do is try a different usb port on your pc or laptop and you should be good
May need to wipe dalvik/cache also just to clean things up a bit

That has happened to me several times. Usually it's a bad usb cable. If it's not allowing data to cross, the phone will not give you the option to change. If the phonedoesn't see a data connection than it acts just like it would if it was plugged into a wall outlet.
I use retractable cables and they usually start to do that when the cable is bad or going bad.
Try wiggling the wire in various spots to see if you can get a connection. If not than I can almost bet that your cable is going bad. Just replace the cable and you should be fine.
I always keep backups for this reason. You can get cheap ones off Ebay. I like the retractable ones because they're less hassle and track free. I never take it out of the computer. I use the Quadrimax retractable cable. You can get them for about 10 dollars. If you buy the cheap ones you never know if they're going to work or not.
Let me know if this was the issue, I'd like to know. Good Luck!

[Q] Retrieving data off a broken i747

Hey guys,
My mother dropped her phone in such a manner that the screen doesn't respond and she didn't bother to store things on her SD card (32GB phone). It doesn't display anything nor does it take input so I figure she got real unlucky and broke the cable and/or connector. The phone is stock, no USB debugging enabled and has a pattern unlock. I figured, I'd give MHL and USB OTG a go and tried to use one of these (attached image) with no luck. I can seemingly get either MHL or a mouse working but neither at the same time. Has anybody had success with any of these methods or has any other ideas short of replacing the screen?
Thanks

touch screen is non-responsive and computer does not recognize device

The touchscreen on my 2013N7 fizzled out earlier. Responsiveness has been on and off for the day - for a few hours it would improve after I press on a certain spot on the back of the device, but after that it has gone entirely. I've rebooted several times and there is no response.
I'm trying to use android control (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2786395) to just access it and get my data off of it, but when I plug it into a PC, the PC doesn't recognize that there is a device plugged in at all, even though it'll still charge the N7. It's completely missing from the device management list; adb shell can't find devices plugged in. I've looked around for possible fixes, but all of the ones mentioned require being able to access the tablet.
I'm at a bit of a loss here - is there a way to get the N7 to show up on the device list, or an alternate way to pull data off of it?

The spot corresponds to the plug (att) and now it is time to unlock, reseat the cable and relock it as all of the problems relate to poor contact of the cable.
Same issue here,I am inserting a usb otg and connecting mouse there and then rebooting. This is really a bad issue

5T with broken/black screen - need help switching to MTP

Hey XDA Family,
I've been searching everywhere even here but I need help. My phone was dropped and the screen is broke/black. It still works as I can receive calls and able to answer with headphones. LED lights still work.
I have previously enabled USB debugging but never switched to default USB behavior to MTP. It's set for USB charging.
My goal is to use Vysor to view my phone screen and kinda-sorta semi use it temporarily until I can replace/fix it.
Some other tidbits - it was powered off and on - so it's on that initial screen where it requires Pattern Unlock.
Am I SOL? ADB doesn't recognize any device (and it won't because it's not in MTP mode).
Is there any tool I can use to force switch to MTP? I read stuff about Miracle-box.... not sure if that will work.
Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks.
I am still stuck. I tried ADB once again but still no go.
Even if there's a way to factory reset the phone so that the lock screen is removed may help. Remember, I have no screen. to view.
Has anyone heard of an OTG adapter that has an HDMI out so that potentially I can connect a monitor?
Thanks again.
Through Fastboot/ADB
If you have TWRP installed (command line should work if recovery doesn't work) it sometimes gives access to the storage when in recovery mode (hoping you don't have a password). If you turn off the phone then start into bootloader (power + volume up) then from your PC use the fastboot commands to restart in recovery (https://tektab.com/2015/10/31/android-bootloaderfastboot-mode-and-recovery-mode-explained/).
Once you think you're in recovery try to connect the USB and see if it picks up the storage.
If that fails you can try to do the same stuff using the adb commands instead of the fastboot commands, it's a little trickier but i think you should be able to use an adb pull command to extract the files from your phone, if you get it to work then you can also reset the phone to factory through the commands. This way you won't give whoever is fixing it access to all your data.

:good::good::good::good:
If the phone itself isn't broken you can always order a replacement screen and either replace it yourself or have someone who knows how to do so, unless you had planned on getting a new phone.
Thanks, I'll try that and let you know if it worked.
I wasn't planning on replacing my phone... just fixing the display.
It's been a week now and I am still trying to scrounge up the cash to get it fixed.
Anyone know how much OnePlus charges for an official replacement? I have a phone repair shop nearby that quoted me $155 (USD). Seemed a bit pricey.

I'd see if you can pay them to just install the screen, I went to a local shop about a year ago and they charged $35 for just the labor, as I already had the parts. The screen is like $150 or so on ifixit, which is about right for an OLED like the 5t has.
