Requesting Tablet UI - Nexus 7 (2013) Themes and Apps

Anyone porting tablet ui to cm 10.2? Really miss it.

PA has it and is available in the original development section now. It is super stable.

What does tablet ui do? Don't we already have a tablet layout?

No the stock rom has the Phablet UI. Tablet UI places the buttons on the bottom left and puts the notification bar and settings in the bottom left. I do not like the phablet UI so I am using Paranoid Android until we get AKOP.

Honeycomb Launcher for Nexus 7

I cant promise that it will work! but it should. Anyways the attachment is in the post. Happy Honeycombing! xD
Anybody try this?
I tried this a while ago on ics and it worked on a tf101. Not sure if it still will in jellybean though.

I tried it.
It sucks.
I'll pass their launchers are extremely buggy and not stable
It works at first then after a few all hell breaks loose
They been like that since it came out....never fixed it
I'll stay with apex for now

Apex with Tablet UI is working out great for me , Tablet UI should have been Nexus default layout.

I'm using Apex and it's working really well for me. I don't see anything options in the settings for a Tablet UI, so I'm a little confused by your comment. Does Apex automatically use a Tablet UI versus a phone UI on the N7 or....?

You need to set the Tablet ui in the build.prop file.

Signal widget

I'm wondering if anyone can recommend a good signal widget. It needs to be able to show LTE and wifi since I use pie and can't see my status bar
Thanks

Yeah pa's pie kinda blows. I tried it after using liquid's pie, did not like it at all. That fullscreen with no notification bar is no good at all. I still use liquidsmooth and have no issues and much more customization options with pie.

I haven't tried LS in a while. Probably not since January-ish on a GS3. What makes its pie different? I use PA because it is the only custom ROM I've run that performs as well as stock--but as I said, it's been a long time since trying LS.

OP, this doesn't answer your question, but this is one possible solution. Have you tried 0% nav bar Pie? That replaces the navigation bar with minimal Pie, but it leaves the status bar. You can then use an alternate launcher (I've been using Nova exclusively for well over a year) to hide the status bar. With this set up, your home screen will look as if it is in full screen mode, but you can still swipe the notifications bar down and see the status bar.
In PA setting/hybrid properties/interface change nav bar to 0% and you will have pie with status bar.
That works for now. Thanks. I would still prefer a widget though

What's funny about your statement is that Pie controls are based on the full screen mode in the aosp browser.. Paranoid Android is who originally merged that code and did all of the programming giving us Pie control. The other guys just took merged their code...

Good call. I didn't think about that.
OP, when you have full screen Pie activated, you can swipe toward the bottom of the screen outside of the Pie semi-circle to activate the quick tiles. If you place signal toggle in the quick tiles, you can view it that way.
Edit: This is dependent on your Pie being activated on the right side. When I activate Pie from the right side, swiping up brings up notifications and swiping down or left brings up quick tiles.

That is funny. However I can easily use ls pie and like the way it sits on the screen as well as the customization features. Whether it was taken from pa or not has no bearing on the ui ls implemented on its ROM. But to each his own.

ROMs with status bar and navigation bar merged?

I had a cheap tablet with JB 4.1; The nice thing about it was the status bar and navigation bar were both merged at the bottom. Saving screen area.
Are there any ROMs out there that allow this to be set? I did a search but nothing...

Paranoid android definitely does

Try CM10.2 + TabletUI
I use Vanir for this. Paranoid Android, PACMAN, CleanROM, and CM 10.2 also have it via rom settings or a flashable zip.
I am taking a liking to slimbean but haven't been able to see if that allows it.

Not for DEB
I hope one of these Roms (hopefully PAC / Parananoid) coming very soon for the DEB (LTE) - Version.
Doesnt like the amount of Space spent for the 2 bars on a "big" screen.

You can get it on Stock (rooted) as well here
Or use just about any rom and make your own: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1719408

Any way to enable tablet ui?

Like in nexus 10 or paranoid android rom. Status bar with nav bar in one place. For stock 4,4 or cm 19,2 stable. Thx!
As of now there is no way to get tablet ui on kitkat. Google apparently removed the code. In previous versions the tablet ui was still there just not being used.

What about cyanmod 10.2 based on 4.3?
Even the new 4.2 for nexus 10 doesnt have tablet ui anymore
Apex launcher, and no doubt Nova, allow you to combine the Nav/notification bar for a slightly tabified ui. They also allow other config options like being able to disable the dock and/or the notification bar for a full screen display.
You could look into Xposed modules for changing DPI, but I have no idea how those work with kitkat.

Sorry, I forgot that setting in Apex only disables the dock and puts a persistent search bar at the top. Not very tablified.
Since I accidentially updated to a newer CM10.2 I miss my TabletUI and even more since I saw the new ipad mini retina this weekend. I would do it on my own, but I don't know how.
Please somebody who did it in the past post an TabletUI update for the stable CM10.2 or give me some hints how to make this patch on my own.

Just would have include all the the code google removed.
But the best would be to bid farewell to this relict of the past.
(Tablet UI is now dead for more than 2 years so let it rest in peace.)

Ok, I understand. But I don't want to give up! Why should I buy a tablet with super high resolution and then waste the space with useless notification bars? I made a tabletUI Update for the stable CM10.2 for DEB: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=48538860&postcount=104
We will see what the next Android Update brings...
You know that Android 4.4. introduced the immersive mode.
Developer just need to use it in their apps.

[Q] Resize widgets with stock launcher

Is there any way to resize any widget like CM does with the stock launcher w/Xposed and Gravitybox?
You can resize widgets without any app/hack/whatever on stock launcher on Android.
Just hold the widget and you should be able to resize it by puhing the sides or the top/bottom frames.

That's a negative.
For example, the Pandora widget can be stretched the full width of the screen in CM. I can't do it on the stock launcher.
I'm running 4.4.2 btw.

Yes. The latest version of Gravity Box allows you to resize ANY widget. I've done this with a couple (like sound search widget) that can't normally be resized. :victory:
In the future, please post questions in the Q&A forum. :good:

No worries. It should be under Launcher Tweaks. It's under the section where you can customize the icon grid layout.

By looking at the colors of your icons on top, I take it you don't have KitKat on your N7? Maybe Android 4.3? If so, it looks like you have the wrong version of Gravity Box. You need the one with JB at the end (for Jelly Bean) and not the one with KK (for KitKat). That could be why. I'm on 4.4.2 on my N5 and N7, and both have Launcher Tweaks under where it says Media Tweaks.

Oh. My bad. I kind of thought that could've been the case, but just wanted to make sure. That's weird because mine has it. Are you running the "Google Experience Launcher" (or I guess now known as "Google Home Launcher")? I've attached the screenshot of what mine looks like.

Oh. My bad. I always think of the Google Now Launcher as the stock launcher since it's stock on my N5, and also installed on my N7. I think it may only work with the Google Now Launcher. I would think that it would still give you the option to change it, and just not change anything if it weren't compatible. Sorry. I feel like I foolishly got your hopes up. You should give the Google Now Launcher a try. It works perfectly on the N7.

Most widgets you can re size but there are still a lot you can't and would need some sort of launcher like nova to resize everything
