hi all, what are the options of voip apps for nexus 7? I used PHONE for Google Voice & GTalk from Mo+ in play store on galaxy nexus. it's pretty good. But it's not compatible with nexus 7. any workarounds or other suggestions? thanks.
I use GrooVeIP with Google Voice and it works fine.

Voice Actions Plus will not give me any sound output. I also downloaded SVOX Classic and the SVOX Grace voice pack and updated my TTS settings but still can't get the sound to work. Any ideas?

I came across this problem, but i managed to fix the issue by installing the free version as well. Because the free version worked for me from the start, but make sure to use the free version of the app, there wont be any ads or anything because you have purchased the full version.
i was shocked to found that the Nexus dose not support viedo call over 3G
when my wife S2 can do that easy as charm.
and since this phone dose not have any kind of support expet the XDA (thank you XDA team).

is there anyway to do, or any way i can open case with google or Samaung about?

If her Galaxy S 2 has the ICS update then you can called her over 3G using Gtalk.

There is a native 3G video call protocol, usually used in Europe. Not really adopted in the US. Not a whole ton of phones have it.
OP, this has been discussed months ago. No native 3G video calling on the Nexus, have to use an app. There are plenty available.

Yes, it is new information to me. Now that we have ruled out the "native" option, Tango is a good vid chat app.

it's your carrier blocking it. you need root and this app. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.innodroid.gtalkenabler#?t=W251bGwsMSwxLDIxMiwiY29tLmlubm9kcm9pZC5ndGFsa2VuYWJsZXIiXQ..
works perfect
this app is same that is used in iphone, to paypass the rule of wifi and trick the phone to think it is over wifi and it is on 3G to do video call

Has anyone figured out a way to get a bluetooth earpiece to open google now rather than the google voice dialer in Jelly Bean?? Not sure why google wouldn't have incorporated this, since google now seems to do all that the voice dialer does and more...
I'd like to know the same...
I like how the headset that comes with nexus can control Google now... wish Bluetooth could do the same

I just spoke to a google rep. He said that he would send the suggestion to their development team. We'll see if there is any follow up.
I love tablet talk, but I have some thing else I would like. The one thing I would love is for an app where I can actually call through a bluetooth connection to my phone. Tablet talk allows you to initiate the call, but you can't hear/talk through the tablet. I have a portable charger for my phone so I just keep it plugged in all day with wifi tethering on, and it connected to my tablet with bluetooth. The N7 can hold its power all day and its big screen and fast processor makes it a great device. But the only problem is, is when I get a text, I use my N7, when I need to look something up, I use my N7, but when I need to take/make a call, I have to pull out my phone. I would love to be able to do it all with my N7.
Anyone up for the challenge? I think a lot of people would get this app.
Tablet talk allows you to have a blue tooth headset connected so you can make calls from the tablet and have it come through the headset.

Tablet Talk does not output audio to a headset connected via Bluetooth to the N7, but will if the headset is connected to the phone.
Limitation of Android outputting audio on the tablet according to the creator of Tablet Talk...

What is with the way you talk? This is some odd form of english that makes very little sense.
...Groove IP (free)
...what I think that fellow is trying to say (in some abstract, Ebonics, web-geeky sorta-way) is that Groove IP is the way to go. There is a free version (with ads) in Google Play; this is what I use.
However, with Groove IP, you'll need a Google Voice number (i.e., Google.com/voice).
Just get yourself a number and then log into Groove IP with your Gmail address and you're good to go!
You almost don't need a cellular phone, anymore; just wi-fi!
P.S., People in the comments in Google play moan that they can't text in Groove IP; although you can't make calls in Google Voice, you can text through their app.
Well to you guys with a IQ that registers 1million GROOVE IP +GOOGLE VOICE +GOOGLE TALK =HOME MADE PHABLET LoL ha ha ha like I said it works for me Bro GOD BLESS YOU AND GOOD LUCK!!!

I guess I'll just do it this way, I was worried that Android Limitations (I thought we didnt have those damn things anymore, ) would stop this from working, but I do have a Google Voice number and my N7 is always connected to the internet, so I will do this.
...so, how'd it go?

Did this get solved I'm having this problem too. I don't want to hear Samsung's tts on my navigation

As far as I am aware, you cannot sideload the Googletts.apk because it will just force close. I have no idea why Samsung didn't include Google TTS, as their tts is so terrible. You will just have to install SVox for now until someone comes up with a way to get GoogleTTS on the phone. Personally, I'm waiting for Cyanogenmod to come out. I can't stand TouchWiz
I went to the Samsung app store and downloaded an HD voice made by Samsung for free. Its got Google tts but it sounds a hell of a lot better.
