[APP REQUEST] Tablet to Phone - Nexus 7 Themes and Apps

I love tablet talk, but I have some thing else I would like. The one thing I would love is for an app where I can actually call through a bluetooth connection to my phone. Tablet talk allows you to initiate the call, but you can't hear/talk through the tablet. I have a portable charger for my phone so I just keep it plugged in all day with wifi tethering on, and it connected to my tablet with bluetooth. The N7 can hold its power all day and its big screen and fast processor makes it a great device. But the only problem is, is when I get a text, I use my N7, when I need to look something up, I use my N7, but when I need to take/make a call, I have to pull out my phone. I would love to be able to do it all with my N7.
Anyone up for the challenge? I think a lot of people would get this app.

Tablet talk allows you to have a blue tooth headset connected so you can make calls from the tablet and have it come through the headset.

Tablet Talk does not output audio to a headset connected via Bluetooth to the N7, but will if the headset is connected to the phone.
Limitation of Android outputting audio on the tablet according to the creator of Tablet Talk...

What is with the way you talk? This is some odd form of english that makes very little sense.

...Groove IP (free)
...what I think that fellow is trying to say (in some abstract, Ebonics, web-geeky sorta-way) is that Groove IP is the way to go. There is a free version (with ads) in Google Play; this is what I use.
However, with Groove IP, you'll need a Google Voice number (i.e., Google.com/voice).
Just get yourself a number and then log into Groove IP with your Gmail address and you're good to go!
You almost don't need a cellular phone, anymore; just wi-fi!
P.S., People in the comments in Google play moan that they can't text in Groove IP; although you can't make calls in Google Voice, you can text through their app.

Well to you guys with a IQ that registers 1million GROOVE IP +GOOGLE VOICE +GOOGLE TALK =HOME MADE PHABLET LoL ha ha ha like I said it works for me Bro GOD BLESS YOU AND GOOD LUCK!!!

I guess I'll just do it this way, I was worried that Android Limitations (I thought we didnt have those damn things anymore, ) would stop this from working, but I do have a Google Voice number and my N7 is always connected to the internet, so I will do this.

...so, how'd it go?

One thing Google needs to improve - Podcast integration

I love ICS, especially for the small things like the Google Music controls on the lock screen (even the secure lock screens). but, it makes their podcast app Listen look even more dated than it already was.
i know there are quality third part podcasting apps, but you guys think Google will touch this soon? Will they add features like speed control, drag-able organization, and quick controls on the lock screen? Or will they finally integrate podcasts into Google Music?
Anyone have any insight?
As far as I can tell, Listen is dead. A good replacement which I use is Pocket Casts. It's well worth the low price.
BeyondPod has my vote for best podcast Manager.
I just have it use my Google Reader feeds to transition from Listen.

Beyond Pod is what I use as well. Not a real polished app but definitely gets the job done. Easy to setup and can automatically download new podcasts and delte old ones from storage.

What makes BeyondPod so much nicer than Listen? I mean i'm open to paying for a great app and such, but Listen has yet to demonstrate any huge flaws that I've felt the need to replace it.
Very curious what has made others dump Listen/pay for a replacement.
i love listen but since labs has been shut down so is further development of listen. i still use it though. im just very used to it.
Just use Pocket Casts best app on the market for podcasts and they have just amazing support team,,,, amazing support team... I can't say it enough.

I got it for free via Amazon's App Store promotion. However I feel bad for getting it for free now. Apparently, Amazon asked them if they wanted to be a part of the Free promotion; Amazon gave them a bunch of numbers about why this would be good for pocket casts, how it would increase sales overall, yadda yadda yadda. Well after the promotion, they obviously had a TON of new users (all of whom did not pay nor did Amazon pay PocketCasts), but they really did not make any money and instead had to find ways to support all these new users. With that said, I probably never would have downloaded (and tried) the App, so while I didn't specifically give them money, I recommend it all the time and encourage users to buy it. I'm super upset that Google cancelled updates/support for Listen but I can at least hope that 3rd party developers such as pocket casts can cash-in.

So sad that Google doesn't support Listen anymore.
I've tried almost every similar app but I always go back to Listen for one reason: no other app lists podcasts by date/time added.
I hate the way some apps place the number of unlistened items next to the podcast's name, forcing you to check every item individually. I just want a single, chronological list.

Listen was abandoned long before Labs was axed. The affiliated Google Groups page was forsaken by the developers 12+ months ago.
This is especially curious since Google Analytics must show how widely used it is.

control android camera from desktop?

I think my roommate has been taking money from my wallet and I always come home with my belongings moved around. is there an app/ desktop program that lets me remote control my android camera, turn it on at my command without making any noise or indication that its on, and let me view live from my computer?

I am wondering if there is an app to control our Android phone?

Well, it is obvious that there is no app like that.
Probably it's an idea for you developers to make it.

You can try our app, VMLite VNC Server, it allows you to view and fully control your phone from a pc, or from another device, using vnc viewer or a browser:

I can confirm this works well, and with the Jump Desktop app you get full touch control.
I've attached a screenshot of my Nexus 7 connected to my HTC Sensation.
Is there a way to use VMLite or any app like that over Bluetooth? I'd like to be able to tell my phone to turn on tethering while it is still in my bag. I'd rather not get caught doing it during class, since it's like 10 detentions -.-
Ubuntu for Android.
i bought the app and it works great over wifi, but is there anyway to get it to work over bluetooth? i'd like to be able to control my nexus 7 from my galaxy nexus when on my commute.. for changing music tracks etc..

SwiftLegend and micks_address,
Since both of you ask about bluetooth, do you mean that you want the same remote view and control of the device as wifi connection? We will definitely look at this, and update the status here.

one option to try about bluetooth connection is to check whether your devices support bluetooth tethering, if so, you can set network connection between two devices similar to WIFI.
---------- Post added at 01:08 PM ---------- Previous post was at 01:00 PM ----------
ok, i just tested it, there is no need to use bluetooth to access between android devices, w/o 3g, w/o WIFI. Basically what you need to do is to turn on a WIFI hotspot on one device, then start vmlite vnc server on this device, it will display an ip address.
On your another device, you need to change WIFI to connect to your other device's WIFI hotspot id, then you run a vnc viewer to connect. It works very well from our testing.
There is no 3rd party app needed, pretty much all android devices support wifi hotspot.
if you need more info, please post.

I am also thinking of adding a Record button to our vmlite vnc server, so you can record all of the mouse/keyboard events, and when you are in a hurry, you can simply push one button to accomplish recorded tasks, such as turn on wifi hotspot, etc.
not sure if this would help you during commute.
For SMS set up Google voice on your Nexus and ur nexus 7. ( works like a charm I can receive text and answer them from my nexus 7.
As for contyol I would like to hear more on this as I never have my phone to far away and on my commute home I have all my music on my phone and taking my phone out while i have my 7 out is to much.

T-Mobile Galaxy Note 2 and MyFord Touch

In case any of you were like me, trying to hack the heck out of your previous android to get contact pictures to be displayed by the MyFord Touch stereo, or having it read texts to you as you drive... I am pleased to say the T-Mobile Galaxy Note 2 works... out of the box, with no adjustments needed!

Cool. I just got my Note 2 and a 2013 Ford Focus with MFT all in the same week.

Applink would let you control Pandora and some other apps via MFT voice control, but it only works on vehicles that have Sync but not MFT.
I didn't really mess with the wifi. I did not really see what the point was. I could just run a hotspot app on my phone if, for example, my wanted to use her tablet in the car.
Unfortunately MFT and Svoice don't play nice together. I get 'network error'. Seems like MFT doesnt want to open the BT mic to the phone.

A quick heads up. Just figured this out today. The MyFord Touch system reads the ALBUM ARTIST field from the MP3 tag to list the artist when playing mp3s. Crazy, I thought it would be the artist field... LOL, but not so.

Dinamotxt

Hello everyone,
Just wanted to share an alternative to tablet talk which lets you send SMS using your tablet in sync with the phone.
Dinamotxt
Tablet talk lets you call as well, whereas this doesn't. Also tablet talk offers bluetooth connection whereas this only uses wifi. But hey it's free rather than paying for tablet talk so that's always a good thing
Thanks if it helps
Worked good when I first installed it, but after leaving the house (both devices losing wifi) and returning, they simply search for each other endlessly, telling me to connect to the same wifi (which they are).
I tried deleting the pairing and closing and re-opening the app on both devices, but now they just refuse to see each other. Last resort I suppose is to clear data and reinstall both.
