[Q] SCH-i535 Fried Due To OTG - T-Mobile, Samsung Galaxy SIII

Hello xda, i have fried my CDMA SCH-i535 (Galaxy S3) during an otg connection with a USB mouse like many other people, i would like to know if theres any way i can recover my phone and my archives because i have many pictures and videos that i want to recover, i did a little search and i found that maybe the IC power management is fried not all the phone i also found a website that sells this part but only for the i9300, if i buy and take it to a local store to be replaced with the new part it'll work? i cannot post links due to recent registration but the part is in aliexpress site is called New and Original MAX77686 Main Power For Samsung Galaxy S3 I9300 IC MAX77686G thanks

It might, but I wouldn't count on it working. The two models have different hardware, so its likely thsts different too.

Missing Components out of my nexus

Hi All,
Ive had to send my phone back for a repair and have been told it is missing components of the main board :s
can anyone tell me what they are and do and whether samsung stopped putting them in or whether they should be there.... seems strange to me and google isnt overly helpful for some reason....
Thanks

lol what? this is craziness
Google isn't being helpful because that's nonsense.
I am in my phone. Those are capacitors or control crystals. Have you dropped the phone? What is wrong with it?
Google for this
"Samsung galaxy nexus i9250 schematic"

Best to contact samsung about it. Looking up a schematic will not tell you what is in your exact phone. There are board revision changes done in process with any product and without a schematic and matching bill of materials you cant hope to get far with this. Call samsung and relay all that information to customer service manager or technician. The low level techs csr's wont understand this problem. your parts are 3 caps and a resistor which are cheap to get if you can find or get accurate information. Likely samsung wont hand that out.
Most likely they arent even supposed to be there. Not all components get populated on a pcb. I would be most willing to bet your repair shop is a couple of hacks that think they can fix phones :/

[Q] Galaxy Note N7100 to N7105 by hardware conversion...

I am thinking to buy the GT-N7105 antenna and install it on a GT-N7100 then flash the software of a GT-N7105 on it, now there is no topics on this any where that I checked so here I am ...
My questions are:
[1] Have any one tried that, is it even possible?
[2] What are the possible complications?
[3] Is there any other differences between the 2 devices that may effect the process?
Thank you

1) No one has tried that I am aware of. I doubt it's possible either because the LTE controller chip probably isn't even physically present on the main board of the N7100; You'd need more than just an LTE antenna to get LTE to work.
2) Complications? The whole project. I mean, you probably don't have any of the precision equipment needed to properly install and solder new controller components onto your N7100 in the first place (assuming the N7100 and N7105 even use the same PCB at all!)
3) As mentioned already, you're likely going to need to install the LTE controller hardware before the antenna. This assumes that both the N7100 and N7105 use the same PCB; it's possible that they don't. If they don't then there's nor point in bothering, which bring me to my question:
Why? Why go through this process (assuming it's even possible in the first place) just to convert an N7100 to an N7105, when you can just go out and BUY an N7105? I mean, if you wanted an N7105 in the first place, why didn't you just get that?
Don't try that, its not going to work.
replace the main bored
but the main bored will cost about 3/4 of the phone price
Scratch out the "0" & draw in a "5" then
While on internet just lower your expectations.

well hope every one is done with the mocking .....
to Jade Eyed thanks allot for your reply here is my follow up
Well first of all I am one of the first few who got GT-N7100 even before any signs of GT-N7105 shows up, and lets not forget that Samsung did falsely advertise the Note II as a 4G device since the beginning with out mentioning any model numbers.
Where I stay just started getting the 4G services so it didn't matter to me to me at first, and it isn't cheap to just simply buy another device and have it shipped to you "they don't sell it here"
hope this clears up why did you get this and didn't get that drama...
I have some knowledge about manufacturing and I know it's very expensive to manufacture different variants of the same thing as totally different processes. That leads manufactures take a different approach to achieve just that.
[1] they produce the exact same parts with the exact same connectors how ever they simply don't put in the parts that connects to those connectors and make the difference between the variants.
[2] they produce the exact same parts for all the variants in early stages and just have it differ in a later stage of production (they print the same boards and send it to 2 different production lines where even the connectors aren't put on the board .
now I am not sure which method Samsung is using. If they were to use the first method that means it is as simple as i said in my first post (just get the needed parts and install them and then deal with the software)
how ever if they used the second method it would simply be near impossible to do as you really would need extensive knowledge of their design just in order to do that...
I will take a look at the parts and report back how ever I would like to start a real project out of this and see where does it go
Sorry to mock but your idea looked a bit daft as you can read plenty on XDA about the different variants of note2 around the world to realise that its far more complex than just swap a cheap part.
Better to sell yours & get a 7105 from
Negrielectronics for great price & they ship to loads of countries.
might have been possible I converted an SPH-L900 to a N7100 years ago
now that 4g is all that is provided in my country I need to bump my backup phone up to an N7105 , or swapout the internals of my cracked screened / broken cased n7105

[Q] Finding equivalent GT-I9300 resistor on the SPH-L710 (Sprint)

Hi XDA,
I recently hard bricked my SPH-L710 (Sprint version of the Samsung Galaxy S3). I was going to attempt the procedure here: (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2023069) Then I quickly realized after tearing down my SPH-L710 that we have a different system board and processor (thanks sprint!). I was wondering if anyone had a shot in the dark as to whether or not there's an equivalent resistor you can trip on the SPH-L710 that will cause the device to boot from SD?
I appreciate any help. Here are some pictures of the SPH-L710 System board: http://imgur.com/a/jOJ5x#0
I've also attached the Samsung PDF(gt-i9300.7z) describing the same resistor/process to trip.
Not only that it has completely different partitions. Nothing which works on the International S3 will function on a US variant. If your looking to repair the bricked device Jtag is the only thing. It has to be reset at a partition level first before being able to reload software.

Yep, I actually have the appropriate PIT for the SPH-L710, though, that won't help at this point.
I called Samsung and they sent me a shipping label for repair. They didn't ask any pointed questions.
It was more or less: "What's wrong with it?, Oh it won't boot? OK we'll send you a shipping label, it'll take 2 business days to ship, 5 to repair, and 2 to ship back." I was hoping to hang on to it for a bit to try and fix it to maybe provide a solution for other SPH-L710 users, however everything I find is "It's hard bricked, just pay to get the JTAG repair". A bit disheartening as a computer scientist to have to pay to get something fixed, luckily it doesn't look like I'll have to pay Samsung.
I have a contact in Samsung's memory division, I'm going to see if they can get hook me up with a schematic for the SPH-L710.
If I find anything further, I'll update this thread. Otherwise Samsung is repairing my device.

[Q] N7105 Replacement Motherboard?

Howdy all<
First, I swear I've searched high and low for this answer. I've been to the xda threads with guides to disassembly and reassembly and followed the links to OEM part retailers and come up with zilch.
So, I have a bricked GT-N7105 with suspected sudden death syndrome. It acted screwy for a few days with random reboots etc and then, one day, I took it out of my pocket and it was dead. No boot, no charge, no lights, no nothing. I sent it to Samsung who (classic) are claiming liquid damage and want to charge me $588 Australian to fix it. I am unprepared to pay this. I know that the chip should be covered by extended warranty but this is voided by the supposed liquid damage. I will fight them on it but am not optimistic about the outcome.
So, assuming that I'm not giving my money to Samsung or the company that they outsource their repairs to, can anyone point me towards a link for a store selling replacement motherboards for the N7105?
Furthermore, I haven't managed to find specific information on the motherboard model number for the N7105: is it the same as the N7100 or any of the other Note II variants? Anything that can widen my search criteria will be helpful.
Thanks all. Love your work.:good:

try ebay?
If your phone has suffered SDS,then only emmc is damaged, not the whole motherboard. You can get it(emmc) replaced from a third party repair shop.
Gud luck.
1st of all, a motherboard is about 200-250$, and you can repair it at a normal smartphone repair shop, screw samsung.
request photos of the "liquid damage"
i'd take this to the court.
When i destroyed the partitions on my old galaxy player 5.0, they said it was corrosion from some sticky liquid lol, and they eventually gave me a replacement (probably because i figured out they were lying)
+1,Its the same old story they tell to everyone...here in india too .So if you are sure that its not damaged by liquid, just stick to your point and be stern in your approach while dealing with these so called 'technicians'...
Gud luck.

Wow. Thanks all! That's all really useful information. I now have it back so I think I'm going to try replaceing the emmc. Will update the thread then.

there you go http://www.etradesupply.com/samsung/galaxy-models/samsung-note-ii-lte-n7105.html?limit=all
N7105 is totally different to the N7100 internally so the mainboard will not physically fit onto the chassis if you put the wrong one in ..as the chassis behind the screen which carries the mainboard is totally different ... so get the the correct one if you are going to change the mainboard

Tab 10.5 Red Screen

Just got this from my mom. She has points to get products so don't think this can be returned. My wife pulled out of original package and plugged in to charge.
Powered it on whwn i got home from work And it just shows regular stuff but with a lot of red.
tried different settings... Not sure what's going on. Any help?
Looks faulty to me. If it's new then regardless of how it's been acquired it should be replaced or sent in for repair.
I'm starting to wonder if it's just software related. Bad install. I took pictures and all the black areas are Red like above. But I send the picture to my email and they look perfect.
I emailed samsung. who knows how long that will take.
I wonder If I was to find and get the original rom and reinstall if it will be ok.
After thinking about it. The site where she got it from said it would come with KitKat 4.4.4 this has the new lollipop 5. Whatever it is.
Will this device support lollipop?

I brought up the donloading odin screen and even the recovery. Both are the same. Red....
Could it still be software... cause sometimes the home screen will go back to normal with only a few dots red.
Or is the video card or whatever bad?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N910A using XDA Free mobile app
Could be a lot of different things....
Bad display panel
Loose connection to panel
Bad graphics chip
Bad connection of the chip to mainboard
No matter how you obtained it, it should have a warranty from Samsung and I would call them and get it fixed. I don't think it's a software issue, but I'm not an expert by any means.
BTW, I think, with a proper cable/adapter, you can connect to a HDMI TV/monitor and see if it displays poorly on that. (This is a big issue but as I read MHL 3.0 will work but may be a bit blurry) If it does it might rule out software or a bad graphic chip? I suspect it's a bad panel or connector to it as you say the screen captures look fine.
Got the receipt from my mom and found out it was sent by best buy. I grabbed everything and took to local store. They swapped it out after looking at the screen no questions asked.
The one guy said it looks like the digitizer. But ok... Thanks for all help. Admin can close this if they want.
