Not sure if i am going about this right but i was hoping to get a grip on all the upgrades, mod , and apps (with instructions) for blackjack 2. I am very interested in learning the benefits of "flashing rom" and "over clocking". I am new to this but figured a new thread dedicated to this phone would be helpful to many(like me) i appreciate any help!:
blackjack 2 is not i780...which model you are talking about?
If you are talking blackjack 2, may be modoco.com has more resources on it...
my mistake its i617 why not xda?
This forum deals with 99% HTC phones as stated on the home page.

The problem is that here is better than other forums. I have S620 and wanted Kaiser but had to settle for a Blackjack II and now a LG KS20.
other places dont have as many resources as you can find here (Why are HTC phones so expensive) ha
Hi everyone,
I'm currently using the AT&T Fuze. I'm waiting to get the Samsung Galaxy S that has a keyboard (unbastardized by Sprint), but my phone is constantly having more and more hardware issues. I am interested in buying a Touch Pro 2 that is of the GSM version and it can be either new or used. My one biggest thing is that I want the screen to be scratch free. If any of you guys are planning on switching to a new phone and don't know what to do with your Touch Pro 2, please message me with how much you are willing to sell it for. I live in the US.
For these things, there is the Marketplace subforum.
yes I know, I did check out the marketplace forum, but there is either the phones I dont use or they're pretty expensive. I posted it here because I think that there might be a chance that the everyday forum goer here might have plans on selling their old tp2 in good condition.
to the mods: if you find this against the rules, I apologize and you guys can go ahead and delete this post at your leisure.
Here is to start some development interest in the P1010 wifi only model of the GT. There is a ton of work for the 1000's and little love for the wifi only version. There are a lot of users with this tablet due to its price at this point and its only fair that there is even development throughout the models. Otherwise its just as bad as Samsung not supporting it.
I will start with saying that I will gladly contribute $10 towards the cause.
Updates will come with each users post/contribution.

Well firstly, a actual dev who is interested in ICS and who has a castrated version of the device needs to be involved and I dont think neither exist.
Second, It is in absolutely no way shape or form anything like Samsung not updating. This is a dev forum and nobody here is under any sort of obligation to update any device, devs here are members of public who share development they have done on their devices.
Glad I am rejecting the delivery of mine then.
The P1010 runs the OMAP3630 system on a chip but the 3630, 3621 and 3622 have that same PowerVR SGX530 graphics chip. And of course, all of the listed OMAP SOC models have the same ARMv7 Cortex-A8.
I have also learned that the droid X has that same that same PowerVR SGX530 graphics chip.
Both the nook color and the droid X have GB builds.
So this begs the question, why can't we modify a nook color or droid X GB build for the P1010? I ask because the p1010 should have the same hardware minus a cell modem, sim slot, or HID device. So shouldn't it be a matter of removing software from the build?
I know it isn't ICS but GB would be a step in the right direction.
I am in for 20$ for a ICS or GB build. Perhaps if we get enough cash, we can get a dev a refurbished P1010 to work with .... just a thought.
---------- Post added at 05:50 PM ---------- Previous post was at 05:47 PM ----------
Any guides or information on how previous ports were started? I ask so that if a P1010 owner wanted to start down this path they could have a reference.
There was start on this when getting honeycomb on the device then I was going to send a dev a p1010 once it was done on the p1000 to get things moving, but to be honest at this stage my son my spare one now and uses it to watch his movies (http://youtu.be/chT6cV3HuDU) and plays angry birds ... which is as much as this device is worth now. Do not think I will trust Sammy again in the hardware front!
If a dev is willing to start again would be willing to help. That or will wait till my lad learns how to code >:¬}
Honestly it isnt samsungs fault... they made a bastardized version of the p1000 stripping the 3G sim slot. And made it cheaper then the big bro p1000.
You as a costumer made the bad choise im afraid... a tab without 3G option is... wrong.
Besides. Usually before i buy a phone or tab i actually check out the level of development shown in the threads here.

When samsung advertises the products the exact same way and don't list the soc specs on their website, you blame the consumer? Samsung also blocks reviews on its website that mention other products - even samsung products. This is a clear case of false advertising by samsung. Hell they even mention the front facing camera is perfect for video conferencing when android 2.2 doesn't even support it. The only way you can find out the products are different on the samsung website is to try and but the hdmi dock and see it isn't supported. Absent a GB update for it, the p1010 will be my last samsung product. They have dropped support for the product in less than 9 months with no updates and misrepresent the hardware.
I love the 7 inch size but not the samsung BS. My next tablet might be a 10 inch size but probably won't be a samsung.
Most people have routed phones with wifi tehering and don't want another data plan.
Or they use the tablet on wifi at home.

Good luck even on Gingerbread for P1010, moreso Honeycomb nor ICS.
So paying 200 for P1010 wouldn't be worth it cause it don’t have 3G Sim slot Least that what I’m getting as I found the white edition it states it supports 3G.
I guess from this thread everyone saying it don't have 3G Sim slot I just wanted to use Tmobile Sim card not as much I can live with just WIFI as I don’t want to pay extra fees for 4G is pricey.
Does P1010 Support Honeycomb Rom they have floating around or Gingerbread or would I be best to pay extra 60-70 dollars for P1000 version.
Glad I didn't keep it now..
i follow that beta testers, so excited.
i wish someone will make new version of android for P1010.
but i am sure i will pay 50 dollars for this works. i swear.
Im in $10 for ICS. No doubt!
Willing to pay 20$.
I'm in too!

I could pay, but I don't have 18 years, soo... It's hard for me do a donate. Sorry, but I will be happy if someone do the rom.
Willing to to up by $50 as well

Anybody interested in porting Android on this cool device? I am sure some of us, wave 3 owners, will help as much as needed.

This thread should have been posted in the "Android Development on Bada" section.
For the moment no project for this device started but there is a short thread about this in progress :

I guess this thread is right where it needs to be. I don't like spamming development sections with useless questions like mine . You have to agree with me on this one.
But i would like to gather up a gang of wave 3 owners, here, on the general section, and maybe we could start something... you know, strength is in number. And donations too.

I would love to help but i own a Wave 3 now, my Wave 1 is long gone.
Anyway, i would love to try and test the android project for wave 1 and 2 on wave 3. Maybe, with the help of some samsung galaxy roms, we could get it started on wave 3 too. The problem still remains the gsm and 3g.
Hey ruwin if u really want android why didn't u go for some android after selling ur previous wave. There are many android handsets in the same range as wave 3 and almost similar hardware. Why did u choose wave 3 if u want android ?

Don't get me wrong, i love my wave, and if there will be android on wave i would use it (at most) in dual boot only for some apps i need. The thing that i am going for is OPTION. Plus, you have to admit, this build quality (wave 3) is hard to find in the android world.
From another pov:
Are you not able to understand that this is a developing and modding forum? This means that it is the right place to post about modding/porting android for wave. Now i am starting to understand why bada developers are leaving the bada community. And it seems that i am encouraged to do so too...
Did they released it in USA? If not - you won't find enough devs for that work.

You are right. ..but Android section is much better to ask.
Start with compiling right FOTA for S8600...
Read here:

"We", this means mijoma , made few Examples to test work of FOTA...

Btw...
you can help them. Disassemble wave, make same macro photo of PCB and send it them.

But maybe MUCH smarter is to collect first all documents... for S8600.
Like this:

No need to destroy working S8600 as step 1.
Best Regards
Yup I agree build quality like that wave 3 is difficult to find in any android. Btw I know a little bit of c++. Can I be of any good in android porting ?
I started this thread here because I don't agree with spamming developer sections. I move to the developer section as soon as i get the service documentation for wave 3. I have a friend who works at a partner service and I hope we can get the service manual. meanwhile I will try to get my hands on a broken wave 3 to shoot some macros. or if safe, I will open mine.
Waiting impatiently for docs and photos. :]
Also I can provide my help in analysing/hacking S8600 original kernel and bootloaders if some competent people pop up from somewhere. ^.-

One of my friends would be interested in that too. Owns a Wave 3 and is waiting for someone kind enough to port android to it.
There is a major difference in approach towards Android on Wave 3 than on the previous ones.
With Bada 1.0 and Wave I - device comparable to Galaxy S, expectations about platform developement were high. Those high expectations became a pretext to push forward the Android Port initiative, which is still in progress today.
Wave3 on the other hand, is a hype-less phone, which didn't meet the expectations (Double-Core CPU for example) form the very beginning, so the userbase of this device was buying it being hugely aware of what it can, and can't do. So It rather won't find any "geek" base anytime soon, not to mention that s85xx-style modding is mostly uneffective on S8600 - and that is making a lot of confusion on local Samsung Wave forums, where new users of Wave3 are mostly misled by modders bringing them answers based on old methods to the new device. Plus, the Wave series never were considered as modding-friendly.
Approach like mine : "I got a Wave 3 and i really don't need any android on it" is the most common among it's users and there isn't much you can do with it. W3 is simply a niche phone.
about wave3
Hello, i own a samsung wave 3 i bought him 2 years ago, but i recently bought a android tablet and i see the difference between bada and android i remember when i bought wave 3 i hesitate between android phone and bada phone and i choose bada because its was cheaper.
but i don't find too many games like android and no live wallpaper like android do i searched for thread if wave 3 can have android and now i see there is not port again.
and the shop where i bought my wave 3 have definitly close the vendor made me a 2 years forfait so i cannot change forfait until november 2014 so i will keep my wave until this time and after bought a android phone.

Found to compare with, the development of android and bada.
Looks like the Galaxy SIII might have gotten leaked in Vietnam.
"According to the specifications leaked, the phone houses a 4.6-inch display at 720 x 1184 resolution (320 DPI, depending on whether you include those on-screen Android buttons), while a quad-core 1.4 GHz processor works on keeping the Ice Cream Sandwich OS running smoothly. Other hardware mentions include 1GB of RAM, 8-megapixel camera, 16GB of storage plus microSD capability."
There's a video included too. Would be interesting if these specs point to what the next Nexus hardware might be if Sammy gets to build the next Nexus again.
http://www.engadget.com/2012/04/20/galaxy-s-iii-leak/
Not sure why the "Galaxy Nexus General" forum has turned into "Any New or Rumored Device" Forum.
Because the last two Nexus have had very close specs to whatever the Samsung Galaxy offers. If the next Nexus device is indeed a Samsung device again than this can give us somewhat of a glimpse of what to expect.

But its not a Nexus. And its not this phone. You have to realize that these threads were made for the RAZR, Rezound, RAZR Maxx, HTC One X, One S, etc. etc. etc. If its not a Galaxy Nexus or Nexus related, it really has no place here. This isn't a "post about new devices" forum, that's what Android General forum is for.
May I recommend:
General Forum
Android General Forum
For better or worst history has shown Samsung Galaxy variants and the Nexus program share some things.
Is there a non device specific nexus forum or is Android general pretty much it?

He's right. This had no place in the Galaxy Nexus forum at all.
Just think...some of us are locked into a contract for 2 years (myself included) and won't be purchasing a GSIII and possible the next Nexus phone....think of the logic....there's no point in drooling over something you can't necessarily have.
So please, can we keep Galaxy Nexus General on-topic and productive?

Guys I understand your point but my reasoning for posting wasn't for drooling over a device. I have never owned a non Nexus Android device outside of the G1. My reasoning behind the post was because as crazy as it sounds I just thought we can have some sort of wild speculation amongst Nexus enthusiasts over what might be in store for the Nexus program next. Given the correlation between the Galaxy S > Nexus S & Galaxy SII > Galaxy Nexus I thought we might have some sort of foresight through the Galaxy SIII to whatever the next Nexus device might be. Ofcourse its a big IF since no one knows who is building the next one (hence speculating). I thought it would be fun and lets be honest outside of the Nexus forums who really cares to partake in a discussion about potential future Nexus hardware? No need to take the fun out of the forums.
We could've been knee deep in Nexus talks by now instead of disputing forum law. So if this is off topic then by all means close or move it but if anyone else wants to chime in please don't let the forum police deter you from doing so.

Agree with the sentiment about the posting to a General site. but I strongly disagree with you on not being able to drool over something you cannot have.
I am in contract, I will drool..... AND I will get me a new S3 when it comes out when it pleases me.
Galaxy S III like Galaxy Nexus upgrade version, Galaxy S III have bigger battery (2050mAh), faster CUP/GPU (Quad-Core) and 8-megapixel camera !
lets hope quality control is better on these phones and we see less screens issues ie blotchs colour tinting and transparant lines / banding problems, somehow i doubt it thou :/
Op's diapers leaked.
bow chicka wow wow.
I like to have a new phone every major software update. The jump from gingerbread to ics on the s2 looks the same from the outside. I don't need that much power. All I need is a new experience every year.
Edit: all that while still using the same phone.
