Hello all,
I know its a busy time for GNex forum but here i am an upcoming new member who cant wait to join with this...
I am buying a new GNex and i think its the Korean version which comes with an extra battery and a back cover...I just want to know whats the difference between this Korean version and International version?
Also, it has any difference in the firmware and updating of it?? Like updates come later and such
Any help would be really appreciated

As far as i know there are only 3 variants, i9250 (maguro) verizon lte (toro) sprint lte (toroplus) so if its a 3g gnex you're safe.
All Google images should be compatible if it's i9250

Sch are carrier locked and if anything you'd know it's sch if it has dual Sim, or some TV app on it. If I were you ask them to send a screenshot of the settings->About Phone and look at the model number.

Korean versions are 100% maguro, so you can just unlock the bootloader and do whatever you do. Its hardware is the same as international version

Model Number doesn't tell you anything but Galaxy Nexus
The Korean gnex, whether its from sk telecom or from kt, has exactly the same hardware as i9250.
The only difference is that It comes with yakjukr instead of yakju.
I am using shw-m420s (sk telecom variant) with yakju factory image flashed to get earlier ota updates, and it works flawlessly as expected.

As the title says, http://www.google.ca/nexus now shows the Galaxy Nexus instead of Nexus S. Also, Canada now listed in the drop down menu!
wow please take that alert off the title. this info isnt even remotely close to being important.

The link doesn't work for me either. Type "Nexus Canada" or something similar in Google search and use the link it gives from there and you'll see at the bottom there are selections for Canada English and French.
http://www.google.ca/nexus is working fine for me here, in Canada...
I'm happy to see that they've finally added Canada to the list... I was starting to get worried.
Does anyone have confirmation of the post that claims Bell will be getting this phone on Nov. 14? I would love to find this to be true!
Is bell compatible with tmobile like band wise?? Thinking aboot driving to Canada if I can't get GSM stateside

Haven't heard any news about a Nov 14 release on any site other than here. The guy who claims it hasn't made any replies regarding that either so it's pretty unlikely to happen. It'll be great if it does though

The big Canadian carriers (Rogers, Bell and Telus) use bands compatible with AT&T. Some smaller ones like WIND Mobile use bands compatible with T-Mobile. But doesn't a "petaband" phone mean the Galaxy Nexus would work on both? (someone please confirm or correct me on that)
Yes. Pentaband means it carries the 1700 band aka aws. The other 4 are 850/900/1900/2100.
I invented cyberspace. You're trespassing.
Can we get some confirmation that it actually is coming on the 14th - a link from a credible source?
Until then, I remain skeptical.

This phone is pentaband. It works on AT&T (so Canadian carriers) AND on T-mo.
If you're ever worried then just look at the official spec sheets. Its going to work on any GSM carrier in the world pretty much.
Other than the Yakju issue, is there any difference between the two? I am interested in knowing the hardware difference like the quality of the SAMOLED screen, radio reception, etc And it is possible to flash the Bell one to Yakju just like the other Nexus, correct?
No difference at all and yes the bell version can be flashed to yakju (i did it)

Thank you! So there are no known problems specifically found in the Bell version? I'm still debating whether I should switch to Bell. Are there any rumors that Rogers and Telus will release a better version in January? 32GB internal storage for example?
hmmm there is a diffrent yakju is google the other ones are samsung

does anyone know if the Telus version coming out January 13 will that the same version as bell? or will it be a pure google phone?
i think they should be same hardware
but the config of SC-04D only have umts850&2100
is it just hide under the software?
if i flash other modem, will 900 work
and how can i know the galaxy nexus receive which signal
in gs2/gs1 it can check though services mode code
but i don't know is it work on galaxy nexus
or galaxy nexus have another service code
Up !!!
I have the same problem, noone has an answer.
Do you already own the device? If so why don't you try flashing it and see if it does work?

Not yet. I think i will receive within 1 week.
I have the official baseband flashed and it seems to work fine for me, just flash the normal one if you're still on the docomo one

Does "baseband" mean "radio"? if so, can you please specify which version of radio you actually using?
Thanks a lot!

It has the same processor. Your device isn't one that updates from Google. Follow one of the guides to making it into a Yakju.

Wrong bro, maguro, not manguro.
Tuna = Galaxy Nexus
Maguro = GSM
Toro = Verizon
Toroplus = Sprint
Yakju/Takju is the built of the ROM

Sim unlocked yes. My device wasn't sold here in Portugal, had it shipped down from Germany, i believe.
Wiped google services framework, turn on wifi, check updates, update popped up
You're on yakju? Or yakjuXX?
Check your /system/build.prop, should be under product.name.
Funny, just a few hours ago a work colleague asked me the same question, answer: he's on yakjuxw.

Because Google only OFFICIALLY supports yakju and takju. If you have any other variant, Google doesn't officially support it.

Like geoffcorey said, Google doesn't support any yakjuXX variants, Samsung does.
OP, convert to yakju/takju and forget about yakjuxw.

Edit: IT doesn't matter where you or anybody else buys a GSM model, since it will always be possible to convert to Google supported variants.
Yakju was the first to head out, followed by yakju variants, and only later appeared takju (play store version).

Yes, the M at the end of the model number is added to show that its a Canadian device. It is still a nexus and can be flashed to your hearts content.
