is GT-i9250M same as GT-i9250 ??? - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

hello, i just got a used i9250M G Nexus, i know it is Canada bell, it is unlocked now, but can i root it same as the normal i9250 ? use everything as it is the i9250 or no ?

Yes, the M at the end of the model number is added to show that its a Canadian device. It is still a nexus and can be flashed to your hearts content.

Bootloader

Hi. I bought my galaxy nexus yestarday and it comes with unlocked bootloader! Is this normal? The box was factory sealed. Also is this why i cant update my phone sw to 4.0.2?

No, that is not normal. If you are running a stock ROM with the phone unlocked I think you will still get OTA updates. 4.0.2 seems to not have been pushed to all phone just yet. You can also just manually update to 4.0.2.
Shouldn't come unlocked. Take it back.

That makes sense, because mine it's also sim locked to vodafone.

It is sounding to me like there may be some confusion between an Unlocked SIM versus an Unlocked Bootloader. Are we sure the OP isn't referring to the device being SIM Unlocked, which to my knowledge is true for the majority of Galaxy Nexus and for that matter Nexus devices in general? I can't name a device that i've seen with an Unlocked Bootloader from factory. Am I just straigt up wrong here?

There is no confusion, unlock bootloader for sure....used to have a nexus s, same lock animation on startup.

@OP, could you tell us the version of your bootloader?

Actually there are many reports of people walking out of a store (whether GSM or VZW nexus) and having an unlocked bootloader from the factory. They're not engineering/development OS, either. Just some people got lucky.

How is it lucky? It takes all of 10 seconds to unlock your bootloader.
I received mine from Sweden, it was on ICS 4.0.1 with locked bootloader. Phone seemed horrible in battery life - 6-7 hours of use. Now with OpenKang 4.0.3 b11 and franco kernel 7.1 it exceeded my expectations - this device rocks!
"fastboot oem unlock". Why lucky?

Is the nexus stock unlocked?

I am going to order a nexus from Rogers in Canada. Is the nexus unlocked from the start, just wondering? Or can carriers lock it?
They're "locked" out of the box, but to unlock it I just used a simple program available on the development boards. You'll also need the ADB drivers to connect.
FYI mine is a CDMA Verizon phone. Very easy to unlock.

Yours shipped with an unlocked bootloader ? Was it a test device? Or are you referring to a sim lock?
Sent from my Google phone
I bought my Galaxy Nexus from Rogers, and its unlocked. Just tossed in my MTS sim card, put in my APN settings, and voila! Works like a charm.
Yous are confusing each other. The GSM version is unlocked in the aspect of network compatibility. Meaning you can throw a AT&T/Tmobile sim in it & make calls/data etc. Now the bootloader is locked wich is unlocked with fastboot after installing the adb drivers. The reason for unlocking the bootloader is to flash a recovery image so you can root.

You don't need to flash a new recovery to root. That's what makes the Nexus-phones so awesome. You can boot them from code hosted outside the phone, be it for development-purposes, recovery-purposes, or like for most people, rooting.
Otherwise not debating your point. But this is a common misconception, so I thought I'd correct it.
every GSM version are not sim-locked
My first one from O2 was unlocked. The two warranty replacements from the same shop were locked. Go figure.

WRONG. Some European carriers sim lock their GSM Galaxy Nexus. Plenty of threads about it and people getting unlock pins.

Anyone knows if Europe gnex have diferent SoC that US ones?

I go my gnex on Portugal and i cant verify what SoC is inside.
The reason i ask is because i still dint get the OTA notification for 4.2.x so im curious ro know if my gnex as different hardware than the ones on US or UK.
Any feedback would be appreciated. Thks

Sim unlocked yes. My device wasn't sold here in Portugal, had it shipped down from Germany, i believe.
Wiped google services framework, turn on wifi, check updates, update popped up
You're on yakju? Or yakjuXX?
Check your /system/build.prop, should be under product.name.
Funny, just a few hours ago a work colleague asked me the same question, answer: he's on yakjuxw.

[Q] Verizon lte 4g Samsung Nexus sch-i515

Hi guys new to the forums i did alot of searching and researching but just cant figure out a solution. I purchased this phone as a replacement to use in canada on the bell mobility network when i first recieved the phone i went to bell and tested with there sim card and the phone would not connect, so after being dissapointed i went home and downloaded and installed the Nexus Root Toolkit v1.6.1 and unlocked and rooted the phone hopping this was my solution after this i headed back to the bell store and tested again still no luck I am hopping someone has any ideas for me i really would like to get this phone working
thanks
From what I understand, Bell is a GSM network correct? Well, Verizon is a CDMA carrier. The SIM card in our i515 is only for LTE. That's it. It won't work on Bell, I'm pretty sure you need an unlocked GSM Nexus for that. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.
Bell Canada is not a CDMA carrier, you bought the wrong model, research first next time.

id like to know where you found that? if its from bell's website, you need to ask them how to flash a CDMA phone to their network.
if its not from their website, uh yeah... they're pretty much GSM only from what i know of them
EDIT: you found that information not from their website. here's the info you shouldve read: http://support.bell.ca/Mobility/Net..._phone_or_smartphone_work_on_the_Bell_network
oh well im guess im pooched its the internal electronics that are not compatible i was hoping the unlocking and rooting would do the trick

No... The CDMA Nexus will only work on Verizon. I believe some of the very small carriers will work but don't depend on it. I think Rodgers may have a chance, but VZW is very tight about its phones

Its all about what frequencies the phones radio has. My old incredible 2 had a different radio and could go to cricket, yet my nexus can't get to any other because of the fact that there's more than one CDMA frequency.

Difference of Korean and International version??

Hello all,

The Korean gnex, whether its from sk telecom or from kt, has exactly the same hardware as i9250.
The only difference is that It comes with yakjukr instead of yakju.
I am using shw-m420s (sk telecom variant) with yakju factory image flashed to get earlier ota updates, and it works flawlessly as expected.
