I have a lot of work on my hands right now with the apps I'm working on, but if I find time I would like to build Android 4.3 from the ground up using cyanogenmod and I want to know if its possible and why/why it's not possible.
Also if anyone has started to work on Android 4.3/knows how to help post here
Also this would be my first time building a rom from the ground up so I'm the definition of a noob.

It would be possible but very difficult without help and since you said your a noob then it will be even harder for you. We couldn't even get 4.2.2 fully working. Do even if you get 4.3 you will still need a kernel for it which we don't have and you will also most likely not get Bluetooth or Wi-Fi working. If you can find someone to build a working 4.3 kernel (maybe wedgess if he has time) then maybe you could get a 4.3 dev project build going.

i agree with abdel..we dont even have 4.2.2 working..even on 4.2.1 is hard to get touchpads working well,we still have lag..im currently testing new ways to make it at least less laggy..i ve tried MC4 and each time i press touchpads is awful lag..but on DEAD TRIGGER it works good..not GB performance but very acceptable for most users..so seems unlikely we could benefit with 4.3..but we never know..by all means try it please..and thanks for your effort.
At the moment no, there are even some issues on the nexus to root android 4.3 (yeah, chainfire as started to hack it but there are still some issues), if we manage to fix properly android 4.2 it will become more possible but at the moment no

He asked about 4.3 not 4.2 and you to Oort a ROM you need a base and we don't have one so if you want 4.2.2 you'll have to build it your self

oh.. I know he asked 4.3 .. but I was suggesting 4.2.2 cuz I thought that might be easier.. so evn 4.3 we don't have a base right ?? even that we would have to build from base..
so instead of OP thinking about 4.3 ,, why doesn't he contribute to 4.2.2 and get that working .. my suggestion for him.

ok that's great.. am starting today.. plz stay with me on this thread. I will surely need all the help.
I was reading about Kernels Yesterday as well.. Actually thinking.. why don't we skip 4.2.2 and directly make a kernel for 4.3 and ROM for 4.3 .. if we r putting in all the effort.. y not for the maximum.. we will c wt happens later.. am sure some developer gonna pity our effort and take the Project over .. lol.
Woow! I love that enthusiasm .. and I think a great idea .. developers would be great to support this .. I see more future Android 4.3 .. (after seeing all fixes & performance improvements did google)
ok.. downloaded Ubuntu.. 13.04 ... Installing and Starting the basics.. will keep you posted on this.. If I have something working.. will then start something in the Dev thread.. lets c and hope for the best
Fist we must be know, do we need android 4.3 on Xperia play?
We have to work on optimizing some feature for Xperia play.
Such as
Some games
Adobe air
WiFi hotspot on CM Roms
And so on.

Sorry I've been gone, but i've been working on my app. So I was looking around the forums and I saw most, if not all of the Xperia 2011 devices had Android 4.2. So I traced it back to this thread, and on the projects website it said the only thing holding them back from developing Android 4.2/4.3 for the Xperia Play was a working Linux 3.4.x kernel port. So I don't exactly have time to develop anything (with my apps) but if you want any help or anything like that i HIGHLY recommend you go contact the devs on that thread
Website: http://legacyxperia.github.io/
Thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2147958
Another thread you should definately check out, seems work on a 3.x.x kernel for XPlay started, then stopped (doomlord):http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2246010

Also I think it would be in your best interests to start a thread, where hopefully some of the more expierienced developers here would notice and take interest
So let ne get this straight, we totally bypass 4.2 because we cant get it to work properly on al xperias but we just gonna dive in to 4.3? How about we fix 4.2 and make it stable first just my opinion

What he's trying to tell you is that there are many 4.2.2 ROMs, and they're all a little different (some are very different), so he can't send you a link, because there are like 20.
There isn't one from Samsung (official, in other words) yet -- there may never be -- so if that's what you're thinking, you're at the latest version available already.
soupysoup, is there a COOK 4.2.2 ROM for *some* manufacturer (e.g., Jedi Mind Trick is for T989s)? I'm wondering if he means ROOT, but I thought I'd ask.
I would be scared to point a finger in any direction. LOL. Probably a language barrier.....but if the OP doesn't read exactly what to do AND understand it, his next thread will be about a brick.

That was my issue and the reason I didn't just throw a link at op because I have no idea what he wants, sh*t for all I know he's looking for a ROM kitchen lol, never heard of a ROM cook lol, I don't want to just give him something and have him break/brick the device, I've got every ROM available for his device in a nice little folder but idk what the heLl he's talking about lol

As long as it's a themed stock rom that you're trying to port, I think that you should just theme our framework-res.apk to look like aosp, by changing the images into drawable-hdpi folder (you should try using that rom's drawables)
Sent from my R800i using xda app-developers app
no
r800x stock roms are aosp(but with sony libs i think)
Cdma GB is as vanilla android as they come. Verizon released the XPlay as plain as possible. The only thing we have from Sony is the play launcher and P.S.emulator.
---------- Post added at 01:14 PM ---------- Previous post was at 01:13 PM ----------
Also the android b.a. Is in the framework-res.apk.
the only problem that i have in cola rom is data
if i fix that i can make the stock version but i dont know how
i saw something in galaxy s3 forums but it it breaks some of the things
Have you tried adding the telephony smali files to the actual framework.jar
i want to do that but as i said it may break some of the things
and i have to change my telephone apk of 2.3.3 r800i rom too
im not home right now
i will try it when i come home

will lupus kernel work fine on 2.3.3 roms?
or it breaks some of the things?
because im now working on the framework files to get these things work but i dont know anything about kenrel
a wired problem
my wifi was working while i was using nandroid backup but its not working after making a flashable.zip
Possibly... But have you tried to manually change the WiFi modules?
well maybe i cancel this project
its very hard for me
im will work on it for a week but i maybe leave it
well maybe i release the rom as a backup(i i get sim card working)
Don't get discouraged. It's always going to get harder before it gets easier. That's the only way we learn.... But I think it's crazy how some r800x users want gsm stock and some r800i users want cdma stock.

Great advise. But his question would interest me too.... I didn't found any information if the Xperia M is supported by cyanogenmod. So please... enlighten us.
Guys I dont think Nicki will have official CM support. So someone will have to make an unofficial port of CM to our device. And currently we run one of the latest versions of Android. So lets just wait till the CM11 sources are completely pushed in, the probably someone will start working on it.
I've been working on a touchwiz ROM for personal use but I was curious if any one on the R800x ( CDMA) would want a JB touchwiz rom. I'm currently working on fixing touchpads. Just let me know. If enough people want it I'll release it.

Is there any up to date CM11 rom for Xperia M? I've been using CM13 for a few months with it and I absolutely hate it. I'd like to switch to CM11, but all the roms are extremely old.
