As long as it's a themed stock rom that you're trying to port, I think that you should just theme our framework-res.apk to look like aosp, by changing the images into drawable-hdpi folder (you should try using that rom's drawables)

no
r800x stock roms are aosp(but with sony libs i think)

Cdma GB is as vanilla android as they come. Verizon released the XPlay as plain as possible. The only thing we have from Sony is the play launcher and P.S.emulator.
---------- Post added at 01:14 PM ---------- Previous post was at 01:13 PM ----------
Also the android b.a. Is in the framework-res.apk.

the only problem that i have in cola rom is data
if i fix that i can make the stock version but i dont know how
i saw something in galaxy s3 forums but it it breaks some of the things

Have you tried adding the telephony smali files to the actual framework.jar

i want to do that but as i said it may break some of the things
and i have to change my telephone apk of 2.3.3 r800i rom too
im not home right now
i will try it when i come home

You have an r800x? Enjoy your great service area and welcome to the untouchables of the XP forums. We have COLA and Gin2Blur. The GSM guys have things like Gin2Jellybean, xElite Gamer, AuroraPlayLE, and many, many more. I'd be interested in your rom when finished.

will lupus kernel work fine on 2.3.3 roms?
or it breaks some of the things?
because im now working on the framework files to get these things work but i dont know anything about kenrel
a wired problem
my wifi was working while i was using nandroid backup but its not working after making a flashable.zip

Possibly... But have you tried to manually change the WiFi modules?

well maybe i cancel this project
its very hard for me
im will work on it for a week but i maybe leave it
well maybe i release the rom as a backup(i i get sim card working)

Don't get discouraged. It's always going to get harder before it gets easier. That's the only way we learn.... But I think it's crazy how some r800x users want gsm stock and some r800i users want cdma stock.

[Q]Do these custom ROMs affect the global capabilities of the phone?

I'm traveling to Italy tomorrow and just want to make sure that by having rooted and flashed an ASOP ROM on it has not affected its ability to connect to the cell network out there. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated!
It will depending on the rom you use. I have been using Newt's rom's primarily and i know he has gotten both GSM and CDMA to work on some of his newer versions, you will have to check the changelog to see which ones work though,
Newts newest 3D 2.03 has the world phone capibilities..
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1231283
But i cant speak for ASOP, you might want to check the log to see if it is listed as working or not.
I haven't tested Global Mode myself but people are reporting SkyRaider Zeus supports it.
I can give a big thumbs-up to the ROM as a whole. I have been running it for a few weeks and haven't hit a snag yet.

Oh Oh, I appreciate the feedback but is not at all what I was hoping for lol...I just posted this question on the ROMs thread but its too late to do anything about it if it does not have it enabled, $#|T!!!! For argument sake I posted it was I traveling but when in reality its a co-worker(a manager) who is traveling to Europe and is he's gonna be pissed if he steps off that plane and has no service...I'll just try and blame it on the network out there i guess if worse comes to worse lol...thanks again!
Best to go with SkyRaider Zeus. Based off the stock shipped ROM, not a port.
Which Aosp rom do you have on your friends phone?
I've read in various places that CM 7 will work globally. Not sure about any of the others though.

i live abroad and the stock firmware works fine with local GSM carriers
you can just flash rmk Rooted rom which is the original firmware after removing bloatware, works exactly like stock ( no bugs at all )
and if needed he added a flashable zip including all removed app.
if you like sense 3 , in the Forum there a sense 3 Patch . i tested that rom myself with the Patch and its fine
there is many sense 3 Roms that Support Global Mode also. but in my opinion that rmk Rom is the safest ( no bugs at all )
## phone codes
+1 for rmk's stock ROM.
Make sure that the ROM you use will allow access to the ## phone codes.
Or at least put a stock based cleaned ROM on the phone and set it up and do a nandroid of it so if he needs to access those codes, he will have a workaround.
I found that the AOSP ROMs don't allow access to those codes.
So if you need to manually change any data settings you have to use a sense based ROM to make those changes, then flash back to the ROM you want.
The data settings should stay between flashes but I found that even with full wipe and flashing the ROM, then the nandroid, I still got a boatload of FCs.
Good luck ....
Yep, just depends on which ROM you download. Some do, some don't.
Please use the Q&A Forum for questions Thanks

[Q] Custom ROM Development

Hey all! I've been real interested in developing my own variation of the Android Rom. Such as custom themes, my own boot screen and things of that manner. I do a little Java and have the SDK but I want to know how hard it is to compile your own working Rom. My biggest hurdle at this point is I have a an Xperia Play R800x (CDMA, Locked Boot-loader) and from what I see most custom Roms out there need Unlocked Boot-loaders to run properly or a lot of work to work with CDMA.
I've searched around the forums but couldn't find to much of making your own Rom variant.
Thanks for any future help!
I don't have any dev advice per se. However the one piece of advice I will pass along is this: make sure that what you post is your own work! If you do borrow anything from someone else, please get their permission first, and give credit where credit is due.
We have had a run of "devs" lately that take someone else's work, make extremely minor changes and then post it up as their own work.

The only thing I plan to borrow is the method of how some devs have CDMA working. Other than that, I will use the Vanilla AOSP Roms, most likely just 2.3.3 (Which I guess in theory I could modify my current Rom on my phone) or 2.3.4 (If Verizon chooses to update any year from now). I would love love to mod out Ice Cream Sandwich for Xperia but that is not feasible at this point.
The theme I really want why I'm off topic for a second is the HTC Rhyme "Sense" theme I believe it's called. It's truly nifty in terms of how it works.
You won't necessarily need an unlocked bootloader, that's only necessary if you're using a ROM that needs a new kernel, such as CyanogenMod or a different firmware level, such as from 2.3.3 to 4.0. That being said, you may want to check out Cola or GBTweaked or IT-Rom for inspiration. They're all available for the Locked R800x phones, and I'm pretty sure they all have tweaks thrown around in there that have nothing to do with needing an unlocked bootloader. I say "pretty sure," because I've only used Cola, then got my bootloader unlocked.
If you do make a rom for locked bootloaders, I believe it will need to be released in the form of a nandroid backup, in which case before you do that backup, you'll need to remove all of your personal information from it.

I think I understand this, so say I want to use 4.0.3 (Latest stable ICS build) on Xperia via Vanilla Android as my base Rom, I'd have to write a new kernal and that would need a unlocked boot-loader? Makes sense. I guess for now I will wait until 2.3.4 pushes since it will be a different setup on my phone before developing. Plus 2.3.4 has all the bug fixes.
Hope you didn't take offense at my input. And I hope you do dev something up for the locked boot loader set. I was one myself not so long ago. They certainly can use some ROM lovin'!

No offense at all. Believe me, I come from the emulation of online games community and see first hand how people steal others work and call it theirs. World of Warcraft, Aion, Rift etc all have stolen code and lost projects. EQ 1 & 2 are the only projects that have a single core / team.
I believe in Open Source and that's why I love Android. I just wish the big companies would see that too instead of not letting us do what Android was meant to do, mod to our hearts content. (In my opinion at least)
There are many ways to create a rom, if you want to create a CDMA rom, why not use your own stock rom as a base? You can dump your /system/ partition, make whatever changes you see fit, then pop it in an update .zip. As you update your rom, you will learn from experience and other members how to create better roms, how to decompile/recompile .apk's, compiling kernels. Ect

[Q]Is android 4.3 possible for the Xperia Play

I have a lot of work on my hands right now with the apps I'm working on, but if I find time I would like to build Android 4.3 from the ground up using cyanogenmod and I want to know if its possible and why/why it's not possible.
Also if anyone has started to work on Android 4.3/knows how to help post here
Also this would be my first time building a rom from the ground up so I'm the definition of a noob.

It would be possible but very difficult without help and since you said your a noob then it will be even harder for you. We couldn't even get 4.2.2 fully working. Do even if you get 4.3 you will still need a kernel for it which we don't have and you will also most likely not get Bluetooth or Wi-Fi working. If you can find someone to build a working 4.3 kernel (maybe wedgess if he has time) then maybe you could get a 4.3 dev project build going.

i agree with abdel..we dont even have 4.2.2 working..even on 4.2.1 is hard to get touchpads working well,we still have lag..im currently testing new ways to make it at least less laggy..i ve tried MC4 and each time i press touchpads is awful lag..but on DEAD TRIGGER it works good..not GB performance but very acceptable for most users..so seems unlikely we could benefit with 4.3..but we never know..by all means try it please..and thanks for your effort.
At the moment no, there are even some issues on the nexus to root android 4.3 (yeah, chainfire as started to hack it but there are still some issues), if we manage to fix properly android 4.2 it will become more possible but at the moment no

I was reading about Kernels Yesterday as well.. Sorry I've been gone, but i've been working on my app. So I was looking around the forums and I saw most, if not all of the Xperia 2011 devices had Android 4.2. So I traced it back to this thread, and on the projects website it said the only thing holding them back from developing Android 4.2/4.3 for the Xperia Play was a working Linux 3.4.x kernel port. So I don't exactly have time to develop anything (with my apps) but if you want any help or anything like that i HIGHLY recommend you go contact the devs on that thread
