Solved [Q] Camera stopped working after flashing Agat kernel help? - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S III

I flashed Agat's latest kernal(MA06 #v0.4.3) for the Sprint Galaxy S3 and my camera stopped working. I tried a couple other camera apps but I get the same "warning camera failed" message. I am running stock /rooted 4.1.2 on cspire galaxy s3 and everything else is working perfectly. If anyone has or had this problem or knows a fix for this, it would be most appreciated. I have looked through the forums for at least 2-3 hours but I have not found any information related to this issue.

It does sound kernel related, it's been so long since I ran Agat kernel. I would suggest trying a different kernel, then you'll know if it's the kernal causing the issue.

I haven't yet. I'm kind of new at this, so I chose to flash the Agat kernel because I had used it with 4.1.1 and I really liked it. Also, I didn't have to go in and rename any files so I felt more comfortable using this one. I will do some more reading though and I may go ahead & flash the ktoonsez kernel. Thank you for taking the time to give input! I appreciate it.

I think you'll like ktoonsez kernal, comes with ktweaker app that makes it easy to setup. Just make sure to pick TW version if your on stock ROM.

Ok, so I got my nerve up to flash ktoonsez kernel using CWM. For some reason the phone rebooted on it's own three different times before I could even go in to rename the files. Needless to say I got nervous & restored the phone back the way it was. I was afraid it may get stuck and not boot up all the way so I panicked. The instructions said to do the wipe & fix permissions "after flashing but before rebooting" but it automatically rebooted after flashing. Could that have messed something up?

I think it's MD5? The baseband version is L710WWMD5 and build number is JZO54K.L710WWAMD5. Here are the files to rename "If you are using my ktoonservative governor with the Touchwiz JELLYBEAN version, you should rename /system/bin/qosmgr to /system/bin/qosmgr.bak to prevent battery drain." These are the instructions on the page where I downloaded the link. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1800576&highlight=link+ktoonsez+kernel

I was told any Sprint TW kernels for 4.1.2 would work with the c spire phones running 4.1.2. That information came from the sxtp forums from a c spire owner. Everything else is working fine except the camera. Thanks for the input.

I guess that's kinda what I meant. Pulling an installable out of this leak that could be installed on other JB roms. I know people have made apks and such for previous Android builds... but a working JB T-mo wifi calling didn't exist until this I3 leak. If it's not possible just tell me i'm an idiot and i'll forget about it. lol
It's not really good topic for this thread, but in theory it more then likely can be done. But lots of research needs to be done to get libs files and such to get it to work. Its not a simple apk any more since it is built into the settings and framework. There are threads on the matter search WiFi calling and you will find a couple
Back on subject. Why is this in the general section? downloaded and wanting to install just not 100% sure I want to with rumors of it being updated again by the source that said this would leak soon. Decisions decisions.

EDITs (abridged).
Flashed MIUI (just for kicks), odin'd modem (since flashable wasn't working).
Booted fine.. looked great. Everything seemed to be working, including S-Pen, except for Sound and calls (lol). Outgoing calls might have been working, but got no audio. Permissions manager was freaking out too.. tons of related FCs. Anyway.. was nice to see it on the Note 2.
Reading thru the thread now.. and see the permissions and calls are a known issue.

Bluetooth not working on AOSP ROMs

Let's figure out why this has happen.
Please post which ROMs you've used.
Please post baseband version.
Post logcat
I'll go first.
I tried the Saurom,
then madmack's cm10,
then jellybeer,
then jelllybam.
I am using Baseband I317UCALK7 found here
I have 0 bluetooth issues.
Really appreciate you starting this thread.
So far I've tried:
- madmack's CM10
- JellyBeer v3. something.
- PA 2.56
None of these had working bluetooth for me. Won't even turn on. Sometimes the toggle won't even move.
I've flashed and reflashed and wiped and dirty flashed and wiped again in every combination possible.
I've tried keeping my min cpu frequency high, to no effect.
I'm about to try your 3.30 JellyBam and try the latest AOKP from the TMobile forum.
Will post logcat shortly.

Basically, it can't find the proper .hcd file, because for some reason mine is named /system/bin/bcm4334_semcosh.hcd.
Renaming it to /system/bin/bcm4334_semco.hcd fixes it, without even a need for a reboot.

All that said, I've merely gotten bluetooth to turn on. No word yet on it's performance. But it's promising.
You shouldn't have to rename that file... that's what we need to figure out. Why certain devices are behaving like that.

I wonder what the fix is, but I wonder if different devices have slightly different Bluetooth modules.

You should google first, I know everyone was a first timer at one point, but at least try googling how to use recovery to flash roms.
Do that, and follow the OP installation instructions, and you'll be fine.

Don't think that Rom will work for him. Chances are he has upgraded to the latest version of LG's firmware. And I doubt he will have luck trying to downgrade. Maybe link him to Houston's jb leaks. They flash problem free without having to downgrade.

I'd link it myself, but the option to copy a threads URL in xda isn't working for me: (

Your best bet is to read, read, read. Each device may respond a little bit differently to each ROM, and what apps you install can have an effect as well. It can be a long process, but the only way to say what ROM works for you is to try it

[Q] Galaxy S3 (SGH-T999L) -- assert error when flashing from bootloader

Hello everyone, first off I want to say I have flashed many different phones with CM over the past few years. I have been a fan of android phones since Day 1. I got a G1 the day they came out and was pretty active in the scene up about about 2 years ago. I had a G2 for awhile as well, loved it... had CM on it as well. Anyway, the problem at hand is this Galaxy S III.
I have flashed many phones for friends and co-workers and whomever asks. I have NEVER had such a problem with flashing a phone as this one.
Apparently its a regionally special model (SGH-T999L).
I have downloaded CWM 6.0.3.1 after rooting with motochopper (easiest root experience ever), then I attempted to flash to CM10.1.2. The phone is currently on 4.1.2. When I attempt to flash from CWM, it gives the assert failed error. I have seen a few other threads about this but they were regarding other carriers (AT&T) and honestly I have tried a million and one things in attempt to get this to flash, I have seriously spent over 8 hours today trying to get this flashed to CM10.1.2 and even 10.1, I even tried using the touch version of CWM and tried TWRP to see if I'd get a different result... But no.. same result.
Does anyone know how to resolve this issue? I have tried everything I can think of on all three platforms... Win7, MacOSX 10.6.8 and Ubuntu 10 and 12.... cannot get it to flash to CM no matter what. I am almost positive it is something I am overlooking. If anyone knows how to get past this please let me know, I will gladly send you a present via fedex.
Thanks in advance.
Senor Y.

Basically in some roms, particularly cm and aosp roms they check the bootloader to make sure its up to date. The T999L is just so new that many devs have not yet added its bootloader to the updater-script. Read the info I have in the thread I linked and if you need help editing the script, let me know.
Ill try to fix and upload the rom shortly, just to make it easy for everyone.

Thanks, I figured it was something stupid like that. I will fire up my windows VM and grab Notepad++ and get down to business.

Posted cm 10.1.2 in the T999L q&a thread. Edited to work on T999L.

Thanks again man, I followed your instructions and removed the assert lines... flashed with 10.1.2 -- then flashed the gapps back on and in business on the first try.
I am going to pass the link along to #Cyanogenmod on freenode because there wasn't anyone on there who could help me last night.

Doc,
One last question, is there a baseband update I need to apply for CM10.1.2 / 4.2.2 ? -- I got the gapps installed and there doesn't appear to be problems yet, but the know-it-alls in #cyanogenmod seem to think I need to install a baseband update but they cannot provide me with a link... so I was wondering what your take on that is.
Thanks again,
Senor Y.

It's bad advice. Ignore it.
Very bad advice! !!
Baseband is your modem which should have nothing to do with your rom. They probably meant bootloader. But the T999L only has one version of firmware available right now, so it wouldn't be possible anyway. Theyd probably tell you to use MD5, but that would brick your phone!
Glad you asked!

FYI, (as stated before), the Nightly builds work with the MB7 bootloader
I thought i had an issue w/ the radio this morning, but it turned out to be a fluke... a reboot resolved it...
Thanks,
