[Q] - LG Optimus G (International)

So i finally rooted my LGOG v9. Finally!!! Now i want to flash because i cant wait for jelly bean. But im like so clueless. Like what are gaaps?? can someone please show me how to flash a good cm roms. Or make a vid!!!!

You should google first, I know everyone was a first timer at one point, but at least try googling how to use recovery to flash roms.
Do that, and follow the OP installation instructions, and you'll be fine.

Don't think that Rom will work for him. Chances are he has upgraded to the latest version of LG's firmware. And I doubt he will have luck trying to downgrade. Maybe link him to Houston's jb leaks. They flash problem free without having to downgrade.

Your best bet is to read, read, read. Each device may respond a little bit differently to each ROM, and what apps you install can have an effect as well. It can be a long process, but the only way to say what ROM works for you is to try it

[Q] How to activate this thang?

Just bought another Evo and it came with a different Rom than original (who would expect that), can anyone just mention a Rom that can be used to activate this phone, because have tried everything I could think of. No Sprint Lovers, which I know it will work, because upload site is down.
Need some help so I could flash this sucker back.
You should be able to use the stock 4.67 ota....I would think anyway

Yup that would work, A stock SPRINT sense rom...nothing 3.0+...then call your sprint store and they should be able to activate it.
i used cm7.1 when i flashed my evo over. here is the link to download it

if this link doesnt work then just go to cyonogen mod site and find the evo device and download the newest stable mod. which is at the moment CM7.1
Thanks guys, but do you know of any that are rooted and the link to download works

Most of the roms in the Dev section are rooted, unless they specifically say Stock Unrooted. Just flash any Sense rom to activate. Flashing a Stock rom would be the best bet to make sure you don't run into any problems.
Thanks Guys, your the best.

Android 4.2 mod question

I tried to install android 4.2 mods and keep getting errors. my device is pure stock 4.1.2 stock image rooted. I tried to flash downloaded files with twrp touch recovery. next time reboot, screen says 'gallery has stopped. I have tried all different 4.2 mods, no change but get even worse.
anybody get the same error? how to solve this problem?
would those mod files only work with custom roms?
Tried to clear the cache?
Gesendet von meinem Galaxy Nexus mit Tapatalk 2
before or after install zips? yes I did try clear cache and davolik cache in touch recovery.
i find it a good practice to clear cache and dalvik after i flash ANYTHING. maybe try fixing permissions? if none of that works maybe do a nice clean wipe and see? good luck my friend
You need a deodexed ROM to flash any of the 4.2 mods.

I actually just went back to stock from AOKP. After trying all ROMs I decided to go to stock to see if I would maybe have a better experience without the sluggishness and performance issues I was having with custom roms. I rooted but have yet to make the plunge back into the darkside. I would, however, like to know if there is a way that I could install these without have to do any major work as I am not as experienced as others on the forums. I tried extracting the .zip and installing the .apks separately but they wouldn't install. I do have the clock app and the new keyboard that I flashed from another thread on DroidLife.com so I know it's possible. I just wondering why those did and other flashable .zips won't. am I able to rename all the .odex files to .deodexed?
I'm on Verizon so I'm afraid that, like last time, they're gonna stall and holdup the OTA for us and I'm gonna have to jump onto AOKP again anyways. I would just like to stick to stock as long as I can.

Can we port paranoid android ROM to our N2? With working s pen?

im not seeing any aosp action happening for the tmobile variant yet which is kinda disappointing but i do know a at&t version is being worked on and i tried it the other day, it's good and works for the most part. you just have to flash our radio after installing the rom. hopefully we will get some aosp/aokp roms soon enough.
Could you send me the link to that version?

Or are you going back to stock and then flashing forward?

EDITs (abridged).
Flashed MIUI (just for kicks), odin'd modem (since flashable wasn't working).
Booted fine.. looked great. Everything seemed to be working, including S-Pen, except for Sound and calls (lol). Outgoing calls might have been working, but got no audio. Permissions manager was freaking out too.. tons of related FCs. Anyway.. was nice to see it on the Note 2.
Reading thru the thread now.. and see the permissions and calls are a known issue.

[Q] Galaxy S3 (SGH-T999L) -- assert error when flashing from bootloader

Hello everyone, first off I want to say I have flashed many different phones with CM over the past few years. I have been a fan of android phones since Day 1. I got a G1 the day they came out and was pretty active in the scene up about about 2 years ago. I had a G2 for awhile as well, loved it... had CM on it as well. Anyway, the problem at hand is this Galaxy S III.
I have flashed many phones for friends and co-workers and whomever asks. I have NEVER had such a problem with flashing a phone as this one.
Apparently its a regionally special model (SGH-T999L).
I have downloaded CWM 6.0.3.1 after rooting with motochopper (easiest root experience ever), then I attempted to flash to CM10.1.2. The phone is currently on 4.1.2. When I attempt to flash from CWM, it gives the assert failed error. I have seen a few other threads about this but they were regarding other carriers (AT&T) and honestly I have tried a million and one things in attempt to get this to flash, I have seriously spent over 8 hours today trying to get this flashed to CM10.1.2 and even 10.1, I even tried using the touch version of CWM and tried TWRP to see if I'd get a different result... But no.. same result.
Does anyone know how to resolve this issue? I have tried everything I can think of on all three platforms... Win7, MacOSX 10.6.8 and Ubuntu 10 and 12.... cannot get it to flash to CM no matter what. I am almost positive it is something I am overlooking. If anyone knows how to get past this please let me know, I will gladly send you a present via fedex.
Thanks in advance.
Senor Y.

Basically in some roms, particularly cm and aosp roms they check the bootloader to make sure its up to date. The T999L is just so new that many devs have not yet added its bootloader to the updater-script. Read the info I have in the thread I linked and if you need help editing the script, let me know.
Ill try to fix and upload the rom shortly, just to make it easy for everyone.

Thanks again man, I followed your instructions and removed the assert lines... flashed with 10.1.2 -- then flashed the gapps back on and in business on the first try.
I am going to pass the link along to #Cyanogenmod on freenode because there wasn't anyone on there who could help me last night.

Doc,
One last question, is there a baseband update I need to apply for CM10.1.2 / 4.2.2 ? -- I got the gapps installed and there doesn't appear to be problems yet, but the know-it-alls in #cyanogenmod seem to think I need to install a baseband update but they cannot provide me with a link... so I was wondering what your take on that is.
Thanks again,

It's bad advice. Ignore it.
Very bad advice! !!
Baseband is your modem which should have nothing to do with your rom. They probably meant bootloader. But the T999L only has one version of firmware available right now, so it wouldn't be possible anyway. Theyd probably tell you to use MD5, but that would brick your phone!
Glad you asked!

FYI, (as stated before), the Nightly builds work with the MB7 bootloader
I thought i had an issue w/ the radio this morning, but it turned out to be a fluke... a reboot resolved it...

I use AOSPA and don't have any of those problems. Well technically I can't say any since I haven't tried calling yet but none if the other problems. Did you clean flash or dirty flash? Also, did you mean your recovery is CWM? I've never heard if cfw.

You have to expect occasional bugs with any aosp roms.... The devs have done a great job keeping this device current.... Considering official support ended with 4.1.2.
If you want total stability on your phone.... Stock 4.1.2 TouchWiz might suit you best.
Just my 2 cents. ?

You might try using a stable Jelly Bean ROM that's been around for a while, such as the older builds of CyanogenMod (10.1.3), AOKP (JB-MR1), SlimBean 4.2.2, etc. If you still have a bad experience with those, you should probably go back to stock. You can always root and install Xposed on stock for extra tweaks.
