Does anyone have the issue of the speaker been so low even with the volume to the highest level? Never had this issue with the iPhone. I need to have the Xperia ZL close to my ear in speaker mode.

If you have root and recovery installed go here http://d-h.st/users/ZeroInfinity and download this EXTRA_VOLUME_BOOST_SUPERLOUD_VERSION_XPERIA_ROMS.zip or this EXTRA_VOLUME_BOOST_XPERIA_Z_XLOUD.zip and install through recovery. I just use the second one listed and from having, for example, call volume at max and still not being able to hear I now have it at 30% and it blows my eardrums
If you just have root extract the zip and copy snd_soc_msm_2x_Fusion3 to system/etc/snd_soc_msm (back up the original beforehand, as always) reboot and enjoy
Thanks to ZeroInfinity for the fix.

Flash above mentioned file using your recovery and you are good to go. I flashed Extra Loud zip n it worked on 4.3 Stock ROM. But if your are using 4.4.4 Stock ROM then above files will create lots of noise while playing music in your ZL. :good:
If you are using 4.4.4 then tell me as i have created another zip file on my own and it is working fine in my phone.

Either -
First take a full backup of your phone and Flash below attached file.
Or -
Extract this zip and copy the file snd_soc_msm_2x_Fusion3 (from system\etc\snd_soc_msm\ ) and place it inside your ZL-> system\etc\snd_soc_msm\ . Don't forget to take backup of your origional file. And then after coping, restore its file permission to default(644).

Hey frnd, needed a lil help.
Iam also suffering the low call volume. I hv an xperia ZL C6502, running android 4.3 stock rom. I planned on using the above mentioned tool to increase the volume. I am also planning to root using towel root to root my phone( also suggest if this is a useful tool or doi need to use other tools to root.) i kindly request u to please guide me as to how to use this volume boost tool. I dont wish to install any custom recovery as of now. As someone already said there r two methods to use the abovementioned tool, i wanna go for the root only version. Also, can u please tell that this method wont cause any bootloops or other major issues? And, can i revert back if i do encounter any problem?
Id be highly obliged if u provided me the much needed help.
Thanks in advance
Hi,
Just wondering if anyone can confirm that either of the Loud zip files work correctly without issue on an Xperia ZL that has been updated to the new 5.0.2 build (and the upcoming 5.1 build)?
Thanks.
I'd suggest trying it out yourself, but first take a backup of the original file. That way, if you have issues, you can always revert to original. Also don't forget the permissions setup, mentioned above. Be very careful, and do only if you know this stuff. I now know so I did. It's your risk btw. Hope it helps. Goodluck.
Call volume 's still low on Lollipop

So is some zip file to fix this with LL version?

Hello,
I'm relatively new to all of this so keep that in mind.
I've spent a good amount of time trying to get CM7 working on my arc with mixed results. I've had the boot issue and I've not been able to resolve it.
At present I'd just like to downgrade to an early (none-CM7) Rom but since I can't seem to get the correct wording for google, I can't find it. Suggestions in this regard would be appreciated.
Thanks for reading.
Read the stickys. ;-) Use SEUS or the Flashtool.

CM7 IMHO is a damn good rom, and if u r facing the boot issues on the latest stable version of CM7 i.e. 7.1.0.2 then all u need to do is after downloading the rom, and before installing/copying u need to open the zip file (I use winrar) and go into system/app folder and delete the AntHalService.apk file .... thats all, just copy the zip file (the one u deleted the above apk from) to the root of ur sd card and flash the boot.img file and u r ready to go no more boot issues. I have been using it and its running fine no problems whatsoever.
Just to answer your question straight, all you have to do is flash one of the FTF files (ROMs) using Flashtool and everything (including your kernel) will be stock again.
Here is a resized version of the android pee on Apple bootanimation that I found on the Rom toolbox but for some reason wouldn't display on my note 2 even if I resized within the application. To me it's much better lookin than the fat tinkle peeling droid that I found here and its resized correctly. Credit goes to the original animation author which I have no clue whom that may be.
Here's the sample I uploaded to YouTube for you guys
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vphIEzGJuno&feature=youtube_gdata_player
are u rooted? if yes... then do these steps verbatim to change your boot animation on your note 2.
STEP 1: download THIS file and do NOT extract it or anything (use your computer or phone... its like 100mb so i reckon you best be on WiFey to be safer from a broken dload)
STEP 2:
if using your computer to download , plug ur phone in to mount usb and moved the file to your sd card or your internal memory [ EX:Computer\SPH-L900\Phone or Computer\SPH-L900\Card ] (OR use a program like Android Commander to make things a little easier and put the file directly into the /system/media directory of your phone.... hint:the 'system' folder is located in the PARENT FOLDER of your SDCARD directory .... aka your ROOT directory)
if downloaded using your phone browser.... just use any root file manager (eg:I use ROM Toolbox Pro's Root file Browser, but there are dozens of other app like root explorer, ES File Explorer File Manager, ASTRO file Manager i think works too if u have the pro version but dont hold me to it) and use the Move to or the Copy To feature within any of those apps to move the file manually to your /system/media/ directory. You can just overwrite the one that is already there or just add a .bak or .EAD or .GTH to the end of the file name of the file you wanna backup thats already there BEFORE moving the new Android Peeing animation you downloaded in the first step.
IMPORTANT- DO NOT RENAME OR EXTRACT THE ZIP FILE YOU DOWNLOADED IN STEP 1... the file MUST BE NAMED bootanimation.zip
STEP 3- Using your root file managing joint appy proggy thingys Permissions editor (normally u just long click the file you wanna set permissions for and the edit permissions option will pop up somewhere) set the pemissions (or verify them) to this...
OWNER- READ WRITE
GROUP- READ
OTHERS- READ
or another way of saying this is RW-R--R--
Step 4 - SAVE or ACCEPT changes....
Step 5 - Reboot to make sure bootanimation is changed
Step 6 - Reboot again in a busy elevator or place where some iPhags can see over your shoulder.... and grin maliciously.
Step 7- :highfive: click the thanks button if u want or pm me if u have some bitcoins u managed to accumulate somehow and wanna donate em to me

1. you have to be rooted and on STOCK ZV9. the easiest way in my option is to lgnpst. here is a guide http://pastebin.com/g8hXBaaA
use this v9 tot file instead of the v7 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2091883&highlight=tot
2. you need to root v9 with this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2050582
3. you need to download the update zip and rename it update.zip. http://d-h.st/0a9
4. you need to move update.zip to /cache using a file explorer (this is why you need root)
5. reboot into stock recovery. get into stock recovery by holding vol down+ home button+ power button until captive lights flash then release.
for some people programs such as romtoolbox's rebooter works and for others it doesnt but you can try.
6. choose "apply update from cache." then "update.zip"
7. you are now running JB.
8. restore root by using root keeper
9. if you want to reroot use the same method for zv9 above
Congrats, you have rooted jellybean!

so i made an actual guide because i did this in the car since kc removed his at the time.
here is the updated version which shouldn't cause a brick except for a few that make a mistake here or there.
Noob Question about this guide
First of all, thank you all for what you do for the Android community
I am obviously a noob, so please bear with me.
I recently used engine95's guide to root and unlock my Sprint LG Optimus G. It was simple and worked perfectly. I have not yet had a chance to attempt flashing any rom's and just noticed that I can actually have Jelly Bean now. So, I am rooted and unlocked. I have recently downloaded Titanium Backup, FreeGee, ROM Manager, Voodoo OTA Rootkeeper, and ES File Explorer. I chose TWRP during the unlock procedure with FreeGee. I am now running Titanium Backup on everything (seems to be stuck at 96% with YouTube).
I am about to run through javskies guide to flashing JB (this guide just made more sense to me). I am hoping Voodoo OTA Rootkeeper will keep me from having to root again after the update, but if not, I think I can handle rooting again.
My main questions are:
1) I noticed something in another post about uninstalling FreeGee due to its current incompatibility with JB. Is this correct?
2) Looking at step 4 of javskies guide
4. you need to move update.zip to /cache using a file explorer (this is why you need root)
Click to collapse
, I noticed that I do not see a file named 'cache' either when using ES File Explorer or Windows Explorer. (I haven't figured out how to paste a screenshot into a post, so I attached a JPEG screenshot.)
3) Because I did not see the /cache folder, I looked at the Flashing Guide and now I am even more confused because the steps for
ROM update without SDcard

seem a bit out of my leauge...or maybe I am being lazy.
4) How would you all handle a wife/significant other who wants to kill me for spending hours on end reading through posts?
Honestly, if I can grasp how to manage the .zip file correctly in this procedure, I am sure I will be fine.
Because I know it matters...quick thanks to javskies, engine95, fiddy619, and kc_exactly for (unknowingly) getting me this far. Also to _Epic, who apparently is losing his patience with Android illiterates, like myself
Good grief, I hope this post ends up looking right...it is my very first time posting...(just noticed the 'preview' button.)
Thanks guys!
Cache is a folder in the root directory. That is the very bottom of directories. If your rooted you will see it. Put the file there.
And freegee is not compatible for the jelly bean update. So, you are correct to remove it. It will cause a soft brick.
The app is safe just sitting there. But if you run it after the update you will have problems. So, I would remove it for now. Out of sight, out of mind.
Part of the steps to fix the soft brick will be too format the whole phone. So, remove it. The creator of the app is a very active member here on xda. He is working on a fix. Just check back on xda. We will all know when it is fixed.
And it doesn't bother me what guide you use. If you read the bottom of my guide it is basically the same as this one.
I am not a hater. I like to help everyone. There is no competition.
The update process is confusing for new people. There is no way around it. Just follow the steps and you will be fine.

As for the wife. Just say what we all do.
"Honey, I am sorry, I have to fix my phone."
Or

Basically, any combination of something like that usually works.

Also just a heads up, after u download esfile explorer, u need to go to settings and way towards the bottom there r root settings. Make sure u have the appropriate options checked so u can back out of your sdcard folder. Super user will ask u to grant permission once u check the first option. Grant it. That way u can get to that cache folder that you need.

Actually, shelnutt had a way but he said there was also a risk of bricking my phone. I told him I couldnt because I dont have insurance nor do I have a backup phone. I will do it his way within time once I can get a backup phone. Hopefully, within two months.
He also said there were many people in the same situation that can't unlock phone. He's also trying to find the problem and work out a solution in the future.

Actually, shelnutt had a way but he said there was also a risk of bricking my phone. I told him I couldnt because I dont have insurance nor do I have a backup phone. I will do it his way within time once I can get a backup phone. Hopefully, within two months.

hey guys!! facing a weird problem here.. a few days back I saw the call record option on Z forum & I thought I'll give it a shot on my ZL. My phone is rooted with a locked bootloader & CWM installed. While replacing the files for call record function, as soon as I pasted it in the system folders, my phone hit a reboot. I then tried the zip file instead in CWM but it reboot ed again halfway while booting... I thought maybe the feature isn't compatible and that's why it would be rebooting like this.. But now I realise that I try to update anything then the phone behaves the same. As soon as I give RW permission to ES file explorer it reboots. The worst of all, I was trying to install the .253 OTA update & even that couldn't install and I guess it's for the same reason.. Also whenever my phone boots up, it shows the that the phone is updating.. I need to rectify this.. any inputs guys? please help!!

Try repair feature in PC Companion but it may update ur phone to the latest build .253 rom (u may lost ur root). Maybe u can flash ftf file exclude kernel to maintain ur root.

I think OTA will not work when custom recovery is installed cause the update needs to reboot to stock recovery, which is overwritten by cwm.
