Hello,
I'm relatively new to all of this so keep that in mind.
I've spent a good amount of time trying to get CM7 working on my arc with mixed results. I've had the boot issue and I've not been able to resolve it.
At present I'd just like to downgrade to an early (none-CM7) Rom but since I can't seem to get the correct wording for google, I can't find it. Suggestions in this regard would be appreciated.
Thanks for reading.
Read the stickys. ;-) Use SEUS or the Flashtool.

CM7 IMHO is a damn good rom, and if u r facing the boot issues on the latest stable version of CM7 i.e. 7.1.0.2 then all u need to do is after downloading the rom, and before installing/copying u need to open the zip file (I use winrar) and go into system/app folder and delete the AntHalService.apk file .... thats all, just copy the zip file (the one u deleted the above apk from) to the root of ur sd card and flash the boot.img file and u r ready to go no more boot issues. I have been using it and its running fine no problems whatsoever.
Just to answer your question straight, all you have to do is flash one of the FTF files (ROMs) using Flashtool and everything (including your kernel) will be stock again.

All you need is the img, which is already rooted, the ftf is for those with a locked boot loader.
ok cool thanks thought i may need to do both as people were complaining of losing wifif, ok here goes then cheers for the help

Might be an idea if you do have issues to flash the ftf and wipe user data, but I just flashed the image and haven't had any issues.
Had to do both in the end as WiFi didn't work, all good now though

Hai There....
After I search around on google I found some tutorials to make a custom rom, ofcourse there is rom kitchen but I like to know how I can make a rom for the Arc??
And is there anyway to to decompile tft ??? because I like to know it too..
Thanks everybody...
+1
Yeah, Ive been meaning to ask this question as well!
Its just crazy having to scour the entire XDA just to find a few skins for systemUI or SEHOME, but a tuts will do a lot more good in the long run.
Will somebody help?
Make nand backup and copy system.img and data.img and boot.img to kitchen folder..start kitchen and start to work.
With this method you can also modify stock rom.
How to get cygwin and kitchen work..use search and you find good tutorials many.
Happy working and give us report about progress.
Cheers

Boot.img is kernel and ramdisk, grab it from the stock ftf if you are working on stock.
if not grab it from teh rom you are basing off.

Sony fones have the boot partition hidden. So no you can't grab it off fone. You can use the files. Look for iridaki's boot IMG/ ramdisk thread. That explains it. In lots of detail.

Hi everyone.
Before I start with my topic, I would like u to know the following:
1- I have very little experience in rooting,flashing,unlocking,ROMs,kernels,etc.. So please explain in simple words [step by step] if possible.
2- I already searched the forum for tuto's,and I can't deny that I've found various ones but, unfortunaitly,I still find troubles everytime I try them on my mobile
3- This is my 1st android device so I don't want to mess things up, that's why I prefered to have supervising though this topic.
4- My Xperia Arc has official ICS 4.1.B.0.431, Stock kernel, locked bootloader, and Un-Rooted -- In other words, My device is just 100% official :good:
So,through my tour in this forum, I found that the easiest way to root an Arc with the bootloader locked is the one explained in this topic:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1683957
And I read that way carefully, but I've gotta say that there are minor thing that I didnt understand :S
since I'm already on 4.0.4, I just have to do 3 steps : flash 4.0.3 kernel, root, flash back 4.0.4 kernel. Okay, I understand that, but:
when I downloaded the 1st file, which should be 4.0.3 kernel, I extracted it, and found 2 ftf files....
1- Why do I see 2 files and not only 1? which file should I put in the flashtool\firmwares folder? which one to actually flash by the tool? [upgrade Or downgrade]?
2- Their names start with LT18i,so these files are supposed to work also in LT15i?
Waiting for the answers so as I can begin with the 1st step and then move on to the 2nd step...
I know that this might,or actually WILL,look so dumb/noob for u but,... really can't see my phone bricked so...
Thank you so much in advance..

1.Put the one which says "ready to root" in the firmware folder. Then flash with flashtool.
2. Then do root using doomlords root method ( mentioned in the thread)
3. Flash back to 4.0.4 kernel only using flashtool again.
4. U r ROOTED !!!!
5. Read more before making noobish posts....
& there is a video also how can anything go wrong ????

Hi guys,
well,i did something really stupid.
I was installing Cyanogenmod 9.1 to a friends phone, after i flashed the new bootloader i realised i wasn't able to insert the sdcard containing the CM9.1 rom,it has no sd-slot...
So now the phone doesn't boot anymore, except for fastboot and CWM,since i have no idea how to get the CM image to the internal storage i'm requesting the original boot.img so i can flash it back to the phone and transfer the CM image to internal storage.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
Edit: ADB is also working but i can't push CM to internal storage because it's read-only.
Edit2: I solved it,eventually...
Greetz
How did you solved it, i have the sme problem here
Use ADB to push the rom to internal storage and use CWM to install the rom.
And how do i do that?
Can you help a little bit.

An easier solution would be to mount USB storage from CWM then transfer the files from your PC :good:
As a last resort don't forget you can always use Sony's repair/update software to restore the phone and start again This has saved me a couple of times

And now it's very smooth and no lag no glitc and redraw every thing works normal ex download musicinfo in walkman app and placesharing in sms app.

Dude, or, anyone.. I've tried Linux x64 and Windows x86 and I can't get the phone (LT26i) )to show up on my PC while it's in CWM: what am I not doing?
By the by - it's bootlooping: It had the orignal OS, then CM10.1 nightly, which was fine but my mate didn't like it..
flashtool let me put an official ICS back on board, then tried a different CM10.1 nightly, it had a few bugs of course,
so I went into CM settings/system/whatevers, searched for stable updates, and chose 9.1, dl'd and installed from the menu right there.. boot first boot got to like 30 mins so I killed it and did a restore (this may have been stupid). Which didnt work.
So I tried using Flashtool (9.0.0) to reinstall the official ICS.. and it fails. Flashtool gets as far as flashing the kernel and then it bails out.
So now, I don't have a ROM to go into to select any options or anything, or to be able to get it to show on my PC. If I can get it to show in CWM, I can sort this mess out.
Also, I have tried the 'mount USB storage' option in CWM. And I've tried mounting and unmounting stuff in CWM. Nada.
Please help!

Okay, maybe I can help you
Firstly, touchscreen won't work in CWM. You must use the volume up and down buttons to navigate. To click okay, press the power/camera button. Now, if you have a rom.zip on your internal storage then select install zip from internal storage and select the zip in it's respective location. Then press the power/camera button. You will get a confirmation page. Choose yes and let the flashing begin. Once the flashing is done, go back to the main menu and press reboot system now. Hope that you understand.
yeah thanks all i fixed it all last night with a lot of sweat and tears
there where 2 problems. i forgot to instal a rom on the internal storage. and when cwm9 was installed without the rom on the sd i wasn't able to get the phone conected to my pc to transfer the rom.zip. and it looked like cwm9 was running and could not turn the phone off. But after i managed to flash the stock firmware and then transfered the rom.zip and rooted my phone and installed cwm. the rom instal part was easy !
many thanks for the help also was it a bit to late but it was my own fault i dindt need to do that so late in the evening
