Help.
Damaged the screen on an xda orbit and ordered one from ebay. Problem is that there is clearly more than one screen for this model and the one I got was a different part number to the original.
Does anyone know where a screen can be obtained for a reasonable cost. I have emailed quite a few of the ebay lot who are selling them and it seems they can't read or something as they don't know if the part number (printed on the back) is the one I need. Clever lot.
Phone is apart ready for new screen.
what is your phone serial?
if it is arte110 we have the same phone, mine also broke. I order last week on ebay at chinagoodstore, looks like the right screen but no s/n, I can't tell you neither, still waiting for deliverance...
I've had the same problem with two screens now. I told the first guy he sent the wrong one (ribbon cable too wide) and when I sent pictures of the two different ribbon cables he sent me the right one. Never could get it to calibrate properly, though.
Next time I ordered I got the 'wrong' one in that the ribbon cable is too long, albeit the right width. This means it doesn't mate up with the contacts properly and I'm back to using my first replacement.
I'm going to stop ordering from China for parts like this, I think...
I should clarify that I only replaced the digitizer, not the whole screen.
Hello,
My wife recently had the misfortune to drop her newish HTC Desire A8183 on the kitchen floor, thanks to my daughter's over eager grab. The digitizer has some lovely cracks all over it now... :-(
Needless to say, my wife is dismayed, and my daughter (she's only 3 and didn't mean it) is very sorry.
I thought I'd try replacing the digitizer myself, having read many tales of repairs taking 3 weeks and costing 300+ dollars.
Bought a new digitizer, took phone apart (even had a handy little "oven" that I could set to 60 degrees to melt the glue).
Phone taken to pieces quite happily.
Put in new digitizer, reassemble.
Now start up phone, all looks good.
BUT... only a small section of the screen is responding to touch (where the 7,8,9) keys are when entering SIM PIN. The row below has also worked (although intermittently) and the emergency call button too...
So my question:
Is this a problem with the digitizer I bought? Is there a particular model number of digitizers that I should be using? I note that the old digitizer had an "I2" printed on the pcb, whereas the new one has an "E5", the old one has a sticker with SHAB1 on it whereas the new on has SHABN...
I'm not sure that this is important - but given that the thing only partly works, I think it might be.
Anyone got any ideas/hints for me to try... I'll phone the supplier tomorrow and suggest to them that the part is faulty, as I can't see any threads out there where this has happened to someone else.
EDIT: I thought I should add that the old digitizer despite looking like a spider's web, still actually works - which really make me think it is a problem with the new one...
Thanks for any help!
Chris
I can't really help you from experience all knowledge.
But I did read somewhere that you have to use specific digitizer for specific Desires.
I could be wrong
Did you work out any solution for your replacement digitizer issue?
I have a similar problem and I just realized the different ghost pattern of the screens (original has diagonal, new has square arrangements of dots) and also the electronics of the digitizer is slightly different (Original: Synaptics 940-663-1R1, replacement: Synaptics 940-682-1R2)
Hello,
I'v got the same problem, i even bought two digitizers from different sellers. I thought that it is because i did something wrong when I disassembly and assembled the phone but I put my old digitizer again and it works ok ( except the corner where it's crashed ).I asked my sellers if there are some different digitizers and they replayed that no and the one I'v got are checked and ok ( the electronics is identical, the only difference are white big number E2 and G2 ). What can I do more to repair my poor thing?

The Tilt 2 housing might fit. I compared an ATT one to tmobile one and it looks like the AT&T has an extra small button on the side but it doesn't look like it's big problem. I didn't check the flex yet. If you want to buy an ATT full housing you'll need one that has the middle frame with it, the one that the motherboard snaps into. There are some out there that don't have it.
So I need Full housing from tilt 2, digitizer (touch screen). The display, motherboard, flex, and everything else inside is the same, all the rest will fit

It looks like it might, but I can't guarantee that it will. Here is an original tmobile housing but it'stoo expensive: http://www.htcrepairparts.com/full-coverhousing-for-htc-touch-pro-tmobile-p-2886.html
It is expensive :/ it not be bad to try to install this housing of tilt 2 but I'm afraid it won't fit, speaker, front key, display and rest :/
Hi there, I cracked my Desire's digitizer and tried to replace and subsequently damaged the LCD screen (Sony version). Having had a further look online I noticed that there appear to be a few different digitizer part numbers. Mine (the broken one) is 940-682-1RA, however any that I have seen online for sale (ebay) are ending in 1R1. I have also seen others reporting that there are ones with a number ending 1R2. Does anybody know if I need a digitizer with a matching part number or will any of the others work ok?
I had replaced the digitizer on mine but didnt get a chance to test it was working properly as I must have bent the LCD panel too much during disassembly and broke it. I have ordered a new LCD and hope to fit it soon, but wanted to check about the digitizer in case I need to send it back and order the correct one. Grateful for any advice you can offer.
Many thanks
Gareth
I have the HTC ONE X White AT&T, but I'm stuck on on replacing the screen, every video I can find on the internet is for he black version, and I need help with one part. After the motherboard etc was out, I have to remove the screen, I did, but idk if I got the lcd part too, because it is much thinner than the replacement. there is like 3 layers of paper/plastic s and then a gray screen left. Can anyone help? I can send pic I really really need help I don't want to mess this phone up!
Update
I split the LCD in half it looks like, but the digitizer seems to not be working correctly is there a way to repair it? or do I have to buy a new one?
show some picture. DId you buy lcd+digitizer or only lcd?
it was the combo the digitzer cable (the connector) seems to be bad as it is very difficult to connect compared to the one that came with my phone, when it does connect the touch is very very slow and uncalibrated. Pictures are coming

IS there a way I can repair this?
I think you have a one xl (snapdragon) and not an international (tegra) version in which case it would explain why it doesn't fit or work properly.
If you do have the xl codename evita then you are also in the wrong forum my friend and should head over to the HTC one xl forum.

it says here that it works for both versions though http://www.amazon.com/Display-Digit...qid=1413140433&sr=8-2&keywords=HTC+One+X+AT&T. Every other product had low reviews, is there anywhere I can get a reliable screen replacement?
Pretty much every screen replacement says it doubles up with the HTC One XL. If anyone can help it is greatly appreciated.
can I use the old cable? somehow
Look here mate: http://www.etradesupply.com/htc/android-models/htc-one-x.html
I recently got a HTC screen here and it's perfect & original

Hi,
The LCD on the One X and the XL can be different, there is a Sony and a Sharp version which aren't interchangable, but the Digitizer should be essentially the same, as the connectors are identical.
That said, I have come across a dodgy digitizer that was brand new before, and it occasionally does happen. If you want to tell the difference between the sharp and sony version of the LCD, the sharp version gas a green backing to the LCD flex cable while the sony has an orange/yelloy backing to the flex cable, check the attachment i've posted, the one on the left is sony, the one on the right is sharp. It is possible that you have a bad digitizer, but i take it that the LCD works. If thats the case check the connector pins on the main board to make sure they are not damaged (do the same for the digitizer) if it looks ok, and the digitizer is still playing up, i'd try and get a replacement.
Hope this helps
Well I got the thing back together, but I have problems mainly that I'm getting no signal, lastly what thickness of tape should I get?
You may need to open it up again and check everything is connected properly and that it's seated correctly in its rear shell, as there are contacts on the mainboard that touch the antenna mounted inside the shell, hopefully the phone is recognizing the sim and network.
I'm not sure what you want the tape for, could you explain?
We used carpenter's tape, because the tape we supposed to be supplied with didn't come in and the customer is in a rush, I was just asking what should be the thickness of the tape etc
Sorry, I wanted to know what you were going to use tape for, if it was to keep digitizer stuck to frame, I'd use the smallest amount of instant adhesive, being careful not to allow it to run under the glass, where you would see it when you press it down
We'll the screen is almost sticking out of the case despite this being the strongest tape I've ever run into, so I'll guess I'll need thinner tape I just don't want to take everything apart AGAIN and retape. It's a pain to do So should I remove the tape and use glue? Or get thinner tape?
If it's for the back of the LCD get the thinnest double sided tape you can, preferably something reputable like 3m as this is what's going to hold everything in place, if it's the digitizer, I'd use adhesive the tiniest drop in each corner and in the middle of each side, then press until it sets, you just have to be careful as if you use too much it can run from under the glass, and be visible.

Just as a tip, you can get a replacement mid frame that already has the 3m tape on it, but I still like to put adhesive on the edges of frame where digitizer sits as sometimes the pressure of putting everything back in the shell can make it pop up.
Well upon taking it back apart the lcd, it got ripped like the bottom half of it is stuck to the tape the top half on the case and there are a bunch of white sheets etc in between them. now should I order a new one or can I repair this? its split in half, nothing is ripped. I'm about to just order a phone off amazon at this point.
You will have to get a new one, look at the videos on YouTube, there are plenty to help, but make sure you keep old one to change over as the phone needs to be turned on to do the LCD change. but if it's really damaged, you cash pick up a used one x reasonably cheaply, but the one m7 or m8 are great phones.
