I need help regarding my R800a - Xperia Play Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

My Xperia play was okay before, but a while ago, we were out and my battery got drained and we tried to charge on a public place (Yes, in the philippines you could charge in a payphone like stall) but it won't charge. When we got home, i tried charging it but it still won't open! Then I tried sliding up the flex and turning it on, it did turn on. Whenever I close the slide and try to lock the screen, the screen just turns black. Whatever button I click, it still won't budge. But if i slide it up even without restarting the phone, its back to normal.
Can you guys help me? Don't know what to do. It doesn't have warranty anymore.

Sounds like the flex cable has gone bad

[Q] R800x water damage help

As the title says my xperia play recently had an unfortunate encounter with water. I let it dry out and finally was able to get it to turn on, or so I think. The reason I say this is when I hold the power button I feel the phone vibrate like it wants to turn on. However, the screen remains black and there is no backlight as far as I can tell.
I have tried putting the phone into fastboot mode but the light under the power button will only turn green and only stays on for a short while. My computer then shows the phone as "SEMC HSUSB" device.
Has anyone else had this problem or does anyone have any suggestions I can try?
Thanks in advance.
I cant say what to do with this phone, your screen might have shorter out.
What I always do with phones when they get wet is immediately remove the battery and put the phone and battery in rice. Has saved many a phone for me.

Am I hardbricked?

Ok so i got this phone off craigslist for cheap, and the problem is the screen wont turn on. When i plug it into the charger, i can the hear the charging noise. And when i plug it into the computer, I also hear the noise, I have already tried but i cant get into download mode. Is there anyway I can get this phone back to life? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance.
Also when i take the battery out and put it back in and turn the phone on, the buttons light up.
Sounds like possibly the screen might be bad...

(was kinda scared) so left charging over night and bam it was working fine.

Phone doesn't turn on (100% factory)

Hello, I've been lurking around this forum for awhile and this is my 1st post! I've used the search feature and many other websites for my problems but cannot find anything similar =[.
My phone is 100% factory and the battery energy was around 80% at the time of incident, what happened was I received a text message but didn't check up on my phone till 30minutes later where then I pressed the home button to turn the screen on but the screen didnt power on but the phone's audible volume was working and the other 2 keys next to the home button lit up. I could click around my phone and function everything properly with no visual image to the screen (I even started my music player). I got frustrated so I attempted to soft reset it multiple ways and problem still persisted, I then decided to leave the battery out overnight to see if it would fix things, I did so and the same problem persisted, so I decided to plug it into the original usb wall charger and when I did i left the room, came back 10 minutes later tried turning it on and it doesn't even power up any more. Anyone have any ideas? The phone doesn't even turn on while plugged into the wall charger. (I do remember something about a phone update on my notifications list)
I had dropped the phone 2 months ago and the screen cracked but functioned normally and I'm afraid that I will not be able to claim warranty because they will blame the cracks.
Factory reset the device by booting into recovery.
If the screen will not function in recovery mode, or after boot. ...it's not good.
The digitizer may be toast. ..g

sounds like the drop has caught up to the device. as the post above if it doesnt work in recovery the digitizer is TOAST
why would the digitizer be toast if it logged my screen touches while the screen went dead before not being able to power on? I cannot get into recovery mode mode because the phone will not even turn on =[.
bump... can anyone help?
Sounds like the phone is gone if it won't even show charging or any kind of screen. Is there any flicker or anything?

I don't think they will, you're probably gonna have to eat this one.

Agreed. ..
You could try. ..but they will likely reject warranty and offer a repair. ..
Or offer a refurbished device at a reduced price. ..imho...g
If u bought warranty you can eat the cost of deductible. They have open enrollment til May 30th I think. I am not sure what the requirements are.

[Q] Killed my phone :( Help please!!

Hello. I have Xperia Play, and it seems to be cursed :crying: In my poor country no one ever heard of such phone, so service-centers cant help me :crying: So I had to fix it on my own several times. At first it was flex cable issue - fixed(changed), after few month second flex cable issue - fixed(changed), than after 2-3 month died proximity sensor and I disassembled my phone to check connections and clean dust and after I assembled it, it did not turn on, only vibrated and flashed on but with black screen(wtf). I was very angry and disappointed so i hide it far-far away in the darkest corner of my house. But my wisdom wasn`t too strong and after 1 month I took it and turned on - but it didn`t even worse :crying: Sorry for such long life story - hope it can help find the problem. So the problem - the phone doesn`t turn on, doesn`t vibrates, doesn`t flash, only when it is charging the red light is flashing and that all. I have externally charged 2 batteries. No signs of Life :crying:
If you press the back button and press the power does the light light up? Either blue or green depending on pressing back+power or search button+power. From the off state.

[Q] Help!!!!! Screen going on and off idk what to do!!!

first of all thank you for taking the time to read through this.
Yesterday I woke up and reached over to check my LG G3. I had left it charging overnight as I usually do and while the phone was still plugged in and I tried to go through my notifications, the screen flickered and went off. I was puzzled cause the phone was fully charged and the screen has no cracks and barely any scratches. I was trying to restart it and the LED light started flashing as I heard a notification sound.... I proceeded to take out the battery hoping thatd help out and nothing.
I thought my LCD took a **** on me but I tried to restart the phone once more about an hour later and then the LG logo came on shinny as ever. Then the AT&T logo, I thought all was well but then the screen flickered again and went off. A few moments later I started to hear more notification sounds and I saw the LED light start blinking.... everything in the phone works except the screen.
I changed my sim card to an old blackberry knock off so I wouldnt be cut off from the world while I went to work and when I came home I tried to play with it once more and the phone started working normally! As I was playing with it I raised the brightness and the screen started to flicker again but did not shut off. I immediately brought down the brightness and the phone seemed to work normally I then tried to open the camera and the screen went off completely same happened when I tried to refresh an app. What could this be? the battery? currently I the screen doesnt stay on for more than 10 seconds and does not work at all when plugged in to charge
Also in the last couple of weeks I was experiencing overheating but I assumed it was because of the rise in temperatures and the fact I spend most of my day outside and Im constantly using my phone. I am also guilty of using my phone while charging.
Any input you may have is going to be helpful. I need to figure this out as I use my phone to work more efficiently.
Thank you in advance!
I am having the same issue. I'm going to contact LG about this on Monday.

got answer ?
Yeah, they changed the entire display and said that the error could come from a defect battery. So i bought a new one and hoped for the best.
I still had the error today. I will try installing another rom so I can be sure it isn't the software.
Or else LG will be getting it again.

Well, they got it again... Twice. They changed the LCD panel and the mainboard. It seems that the latter fixed it. I got it back on Saturday and haven't had any problems since then.
Fingers crossed

I forgot about this post but I used my warranty last year and got a new phone or refurbished. They didn't tell me. Here I am a year later with the new phone and the same problem came back. The only thing that seems to work is baking the main board at 350 for 10 minutes and letting it cool down in the oven for 30 yet the problem comes back. After a week or so. I'm convinced the overheating of the phone is he culprit
