Hey all! I've read, and from what I've seen disable hardware overlays will always uncheck after a reboot. Whether this is a glitch or by design, has a fix been found??
I did try a build.prop entry/change that supposedly kept it checked...but it hasn't worked.
Anyone know a trick? LOL
Thanks!

Its getting way too annoying, i have a wakelock called mipi_link that suddenly starts and keeps the phone awake for a long time thus draining battery
Ive searched everywhere, posted on the bbs board and nothing
All i got was some conflicting answers about it being google+ or talk and that is somehow related to the camera
I disabled both apps and its still there, im this close to disabling the camera/gallery
Does anyone know what app triggers this wakelock? Any kernel devs?

Any apps you think is causing this? We can't help you unless we know which apps you've got.

The best u can do is just perform a factory reset.
Or Unroot, and that should fix the issue.
Fixed my issue that was unsolvable.
Sorry everyone goes through this kind of things.

That can work, but if the app is the cause of this problem, the problem can still occur... (whether it's third party or system)
IF resetting doesn't work, AND you're sure that it is not third party app that's causing this, reflashing can help you

Googling "mipi_link wakelock" led me to this article, which was about the 8th result.
mipi_link.
Stands for Mobile Industry Processor Interface but I am unsure of what this does specifically. From googling it it seems highly related to the cameras. Maybe its how we can see a live feed of the camera from the device.

Happen to have any custom camera apps?
No i dont use any custom apps that are camera specific
Factory resetting solves a lot of problems but if its an app causing theres a chance i might install it again
Is there a way to track this wakelocks? To know what apps triggers it? I disabled google+ and talk but the problem its still there

Shouldn't debugging help? I'm not really into this, but I think there's a software for debugging.

Doesn't disabling hw overlays in development options do this or similar?

this is not necessary. the s3 has enough cpu and gpu horsepower to handle most anything you can throw at it, unline the adreno220 of the original Evo.
This will sound weird but I experience screen flickering on the stock TW roms and not CM10. What could cause this?
Try going into Settings->Developer Options and check "Disable HW Overlays."
I've experienced the same problem and that does it for me. It resets itself on boot though so make sure to check it each time.

I'm familiar with that trick on AOSP/CM roms; however, I'm running Touchwiz and that feature isn't available.
This thread can be deleted by a mod. I switched to a non TW rom.
Hi All,
I am in the UK and have a new 16GB White unbranded unlocked Note 2 running stock JB 4.1.1, the device has never been modified or rooted. When I go into aerial view and attempt to drag a home screen into the trash I get a Force Close in Touchwiz which restarts and the home screen remains in place. I have tried format of cache in recovery but it made no difference. I don't want to do a factory reset and lose my stuff, but will do if thats the only fix. Do I have any other options? Has anybody got this problem and did you resolve it?
Thanks for any replies
Phil
Surely someone has at least experienced the dame problem ?

That happened to me when i diasbled animations in settings, development options, always enable them from 0,5 or higher.
Anyone found a solution to this problem. I had disabled animations from the "Developer Options" previously. I have enabled them now but I am still getting the crash.
Try reboot in recovery and wipe cache and reboot.

gee2012 you genius i did that setting those 3 settings to 1 rebooted and voila home screens delete fine :thumbup: even better i then set all three settings to 0 and it still works, obviously its some weird bug but you cant really complain as it is a developer option after all!!!!
Thanks again mate

Thank you. This fixed the same problem on my galaxy S3.
I've flashed many roms and I always get the same issue. Every time I turn the screen off I always get the notification ringtone. It happens all the time now. does anyone have a solution to this.
Right now I'm on PAC Rom latest version. I've always done a full clean install

I know this sounds basic but it can often be overlooked.
Would that be the screen lock sound? That can be toggled in the sound settings menu.
If its not, then im not sure what else would be causing it.
