Second time asking this but... - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Its getting way too annoying, i have a wakelock called mipi_link that suddenly starts and keeps the phone awake for a long time thus draining battery
Ive searched everywhere, posted on the bbs board and nothing
All i got was some conflicting answers about it being google+ or talk and that is somehow related to the camera
I disabled both apps and its still there, im this close to disabling the camera/gallery
Does anyone know what app triggers this wakelock? Any kernel devs?

Any apps you think is causing this? We can't help you unless we know which apps you've got.

The best u can do is just perform a factory reset.
Or Unroot, and that should fix the issue.
Fixed my issue that was unsolvable.
Sorry everyone goes through this kind of things.

That can work, but if the app is the cause of this problem, the problem can still occur... (whether it's third party or system)
IF resetting doesn't work, AND you're sure that it is not third party app that's causing this, reflashing can help you

Googling "mipi_link wakelock" led me to this article, which was about the 8th result.
mipi_link.
Stands for Mobile Industry Processor Interface but I am unsure of what this does specifically. From googling it it seems highly related to the cameras. Maybe its how we can see a live feed of the camera from the device.

Happen to have any custom camera apps?

No i dont use any custom apps that are camera specific
Factory resetting solves a lot of problems but if its an app causing theres a chance i might install it again
Is there a way to track this wakelocks? To know what apps triggers it? I disabled google+ and talk but the problem its still there

Shouldn't debugging help? I'm not really into this, but I think there's a software for debugging.

[Q] Where did my lockscreen go?!

When I was using my phone today, I noticed that a long press on the power button was shutting down the phone instead of bringing up the menu. Then, I realized that I had also lost my lock screen, which I really hadn't noticed because I don't use the pattern lock. Turns out, even if I enabled the pattern lock, password, or PIN, using the power button still took the phone straight into the home screen.
I don't know if it was an bug in a random app, malware, or what... I spent a lot of time searching for an answer on what might have caused it, but didn't find anything really helpful. I started deleting all my recent apps, but couldn't get the lock screen back, so I ended up restoring the phone to factory settings and starting from scratch.
The only reason I'm posting about it is that I'm not entirely sure what caused it... I'm debating the possibility that it could it could be a touchwiz bug. Anyone else ever run into this?

Yes, its a known bug. I just ran into the bug today and I refuse to do a factory reset to fix the issue since its just gonna happen again. Samsung should be able to fix it with a simple software update.

No, so far the only way known to temporarily fix the issue is to do a master reset.

Ah, that would explain it... I was tearing out my hair trying to figure out what I had done. Funny thing is, I don't even *like* having a lock screen. I was just bothered by the fact something was wrong...
How did you find out that it's a known bug? I must have been phrasing my search poorly, because I couldn't find squat about the issue.
Still, whether I like the screen lock or not, I think this is a pretty decent security bug, considering it removes the ability to lock the phone...

I know because I seen it under "list of known issues". If you scroll down a few post you'll find it. The downside to not having a lockscreen is that if you receive a text message your phone will automatically unlock and you may accidentally dial someone if the phone is in your pocket.

FOR THOSE OF YOU WITH THE LOCKSCREEN ISSUE I ADVISE USING A 3RD PARTY LOCKSCREEN. I AM CURRENTLY USING "AGILE LOCKSCREEN" (WHICH CAN BE FOUND IN THE ANDROID MARKET). I AM USING THE PRO VERSION, BUT THE FREE ONE WILL DO THE JOB ALSO.
Sent from my SGH-T989 using xda premium
Mine's gone too.... Now that we have root I've a nandroid backup which I believe still had the lockscreen and will try restoring from that. If that doesn't work then I guess I'll do a master reset and restore from Titanium Backup. Hopefully Clockwork Recovery will survive the master reset...
I thought that was just me yesterday so I did a master reset

I was thinking the complete opposite. I installed ripple lock and that's when i started having the problem. Uninstalling didn't help. As soon as i uninstalled and a factory reset, haven't had any issues since.
Maybe just coincidence

No, its definitely a software bug. I don't advise doing a master reset because the issue will continue to happen.

For people having issues of making calls/etc. when the screen unlocks:
Just put the phone in your pocket with the screen facing AWAY from your body.
I had this happen immediately after using the *#0*# test screen, I'm blaming that

it shouldn't need that, as in the lock screen shouldn't even dissapear
i'll suggest everyone experiencing this bug to report it directly to samsung, so they can fix it

this is what just happened!
my phone was on my desk for about an hour of not using, them....my secondary phone rings and someone tells me that my phone is closed. i said, wtf? then....i pressed power button.....nothing......picked it up.....the phone WAS HOTTTTTT at the earpiece area and the camera area and it didnt want to turn on. i removed the battery, then it started and the battery was at 4% from 30% on hour ago!
what was this? anyone else with this?
You were running GPU hungry apps on the background of the phone. Don't worry, just make sure you have a ha bit of closing and deleting apps that you don't need.
i didnt start anything......and how come it was dead....and only started after pulling the battery out!?
Thermal protection.

The way I understand it is this...
Google spends a TON of money developing the Android Platform. It was orginally and continues to pride itself on multi tasking. That said they didn't just forget that programs running in the background could drain the battery. Android manages your apps perfectly and to think they would leave it up to a 3rd party software to assist the OS is a joke. App management software is bad, all bad.
More people come on here asking why their phone suddenly died, and majority of them have app management programs. Don't know if they are causing the issue, but it seems possible.
Hope that helps

How did I do this?

Yes, I know that the title is a little obscure, but I have no idea how to define the "issue" that I have (see picture). I've seen this before, but I don't know where. It only happens when I want to use Google Now. Any ideas?

Sorry, completely forgot it. Euroskanked AOKP 0801, Franco kernel r230, no mods flashed.
I actually made a nandroid, downloaded and flashed the rom myself. All I can report from my research is -
I haven't got a clue. Went thru all of the rom's settings and I didn't see anything there that could change it...
Is it causing some kind of problem? Besides the fact that the touch point doesn't look like it normally should (like in the attached screenshot) is there any lag? Does it crash?

Camera Raondomly Opens

My wife's S4 has a goofy problem. Sometimes the camera just randomly opens. Primarily when she unlocks her phone, and then sometimes when she hits the back button she says it opens. She is rooted with stock. Nothing special. It's just driving her crazy. She can't think of any apps she has recently updated or installed that would cause it. This has been going on about 3 weeks. Anyone else experience this or have any thoughts...?

What do you mean "move the phone app Icon?"
So you really think it could be virus related? Never thought of that....
I also Googled screen calibration and didn't see and option for that..

Well, it's pretty obvious the advantages of rooting a phone. Titanium Backup being probably one of the biggest reasons in addition to Ad Blocker apps. The ability to theme or mod certain things that maybe you couldn't do otherwise. So, that's why. Yes she does mostly text and call and Facebook but she has a lot of apps and things to restore and rooting it makes it easy. Not that it's any of your business anyways.
Life Lesson: listen first and speak second. There is often a good reason for something. You may never have thought of.
Now, she does have the camera widget which was my first thought, but she says that's not it.... And it opens other times as well.

Screen turns itself back on

Hey guys. I'm new to the Galaxy Nexus forum and I need help. My phone has been turning its screen back on after I lock it. Most people say its a hardware issue but I just got this phone and its brand new. Is it a software issue?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda app-developers app
You bet it can. Try factory resetting your phone. I do assume you're still running stock everything.
If you are and that fails, a hardware issue could be due to a sticky or faulty power button.
I'm running stock 4.2.2 and there's barely anything on it right now. I'm the second owner of this phone but the original owner never used it so I don't know what else is wrong with it.
