I9505 roms question. (before flashing it) - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S 4

So I know wifi calling will be out of the i9505 rom but does that mean I can't send text messages over wifi? I know on stock rom you can with the stock messenger. Also, will I lose 4G LTE? And what other things are taken out?

As far as I know, you also can't send messages over WiFi, but I might be wrong on that aspect since I don't actually use that feature. 4G LTE will be perfectly fine as long as you don't accidentally flash a modem as well.

Not on i9505 ROMs there isn't.
On the WiFi texting, I can't think of any ROMs that allow you to send texts from your actual phone number, but Google Voice allows you to send SMS messages using your GV number over WiFi. As far as I've noticed though, it's limited to SMS; no MMS functions.

The stock rom does that, when you have no bars/signal it sends it through wifi

Right... I completely disregarded you as being the op :cyclops: My bad lol, but seriously though, I would say that the WiFi messaging is tied to T-Mobile's WiFi calling. There is plenty of room for me to be wrong, but I base my judgement on that because I can't send SMS/MMS over WiFi on i9505 ROMs. I also don't have T-Mobile service either, but don't see how that would matter when using another model's ROM.
As far as LTE, it should work considering you use the correct APN settings.

I haven't seen anyone post this but this is the source for the wifi calling from t-mobile. maybe this can help for wifi calling on AOSP roms which is the only thing keeping me from them

It's not always about signal. Wi-Fi calling minutes don't count towards your plan so for people like me who talk mostly at home i can get a low calling plan and not worry about it.

I'm literally always on Edge, so I'd answer yes. Most web pages just time out. But you get what you can afford, and that's T-Mobile.

Who are you talking to? Not all roms will support it. If you need it you may need to change roms.

i am running PA (paranoid android ) and i really miss having wifi calling every other weekend when i go to my brothers house. I get MAYBE edge. other than that it is a empty triangle...noooo signal. lol
wish it would work. But so far it is a no go unless you are on Touchwiz ROMS's , and that is just cold hard unfortunate truth.

I am using TW derived ROMs to be able to use Wifi Calling. The assumption was this project could lead to support for that feature on AOSP ROMs, which at the moment are not an option for me.

Koodo T989D Wifi calling

Hi !
After doing a lot of reading, I have not seen any way to activate the wifi calling on the Telus/Koodo T989D.
The file android.software.sip.voip.ori is present in the phone. However, the menu is not showing up.
Is there anybody here that has succesfully modified the stock rom to have the wifi calling running ?

Yeah, neither koodo or Telus support wifi calling. As far as I know there are no Canadian carriers who support it unfortunately.

At&t wifi hot spots and custom roms - access not allowed?

I'm on my first custom rom (paranoid 2.99) and no matter what I do I get an at&t page to log in to use wifi which is something I never needed to do in stock rom. I also can't use the website to get wifi access so far now it seems like I can't use any At&t wifi spots
So is it common for custom roms not to work? Or is it a potential bug that the developer needs to address?

Maybe you should have searched before you asked. You wouldn't have conflicting information then.
Also, why are you asking the same question in multiple threads? If you read the forum rules, it should be pretty clear where this sort of thing belongs.

Not only does it have to be a TMo SIM, but it has to be a wifi calling ENABLED SIM. WIFI calling is strictly a TMo feature.
And before anyone chimes in, yes, there are other SIP/VOIP solutions (Google Voice for example) but as has been discussed many times, its not the same thing.
So your saying that if i have T-Mobile then i can install WiFi calling from the official ROM an it'll work
JELLYBAM™ 7.4.0
You also have to Activate it on your TMobile account in order to work. In my case I have to call TMobile cuz some glitch with my account.

And no! It's bake into the framework and there are a couple of lib files as well as changes to the build prop. Before ICS it was possible to port it to non T-Mobile Samsung ROMs ( i was doing it with i9000 roms for the vibrant on GB) but I don't think anyone has figured out how to do it since they made allot of changes. I did look I into it on ICS but the changes they made were many. Also because it uses plan minutes it can't be used on other carriers.
Sent from my SGH-T989 using xda premium
The only way to have it in your ROM is to start with a T-mo base, like the official 4.2.1 that already has it. Then you can add your own custom touches to the ROM, but it's still going to have to be a touchwiz-based T-mobile ROM at it's core.
If you want something like WiFi calling download the app Contacts+ in the play store. Works just the same.

mms sprint apns and 2 page texts not working.

Anyone have any knowledge on getting MMS/picture mail/multi page texts to work? I am running an fl24 root with revolts jb rom
Let me guess...you're on Sprint, aren't you?
How are you running on fl24 and calling it a JB ROM? Is your modem Fl24 and your ROM JB? If so, you need to flash a JB modem.

I don't know. Kind of a noob. This is what my about screen says (screenshot). Will it work better if I go to a jb modem?
If that is a TW based ROM, you need to flash a JB modem. If it is AOKP/AOSP OR CM10.1, you fan keep it as is.

Revolt is based on CM 10.1 nightlies. It won't work on jb modems, stick with what you have

I've been struggling with this problem since flashing Dirty Unicorns. It's very often a WiFi problem. Do you have problems with MMS on WiFi and 3g, or just one?
Sprint's MMS is very flaky on aokp/cm10.1.

Very likely your APNs are borked. Try this fix, and if that doesn't work, use these APNs instead.
I haven't had time to exhaustively test MMS over WiFi with these fixes yet, but they got them working over 3g at least.
Update: I sent myself an MMS from my wife's iPhone while on WiFi, and it worked just fine using the above fix with the second APN xml file.
