Koodo T989D Wifi calling - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-T989

Hi !
After doing a lot of reading, I have not seen any way to activate the wifi calling on the Telus/Koodo T989D.
The file android.software.sip.voip.ori is present in the phone. However, the menu is not showing up.
Is there anybody here that has succesfully modified the stock rom to have the wifi calling running ?

Yeah, neither koodo or Telus support wifi calling. As far as I know there are no Canadian carriers who support it unfortunately.

[Q] 2G/3G Toggle + Service Mode re-enable

Hi mates you all alright?
I am just new to the Glide (from SE Xperia Mini Pro and Moto Droid Pro)
Have been using this phone for few days happily. And had been trying stock roms including AT&T and Rogers, GB and ICS
1. I just wonder if there is a trick to unlock the 2G/3G toggle function of stock AT&T ICS? I know its not a problem for Rogers Rom.
2. I also wonder if there is any method to enable the Service Mode *#*#4636#*#* and other #* menus? These are also working on Rogers but not AT&T
Thank you guys for enlightening me.
I think you need to deodex the rom and then flash toggle 2g

forgot to add that it only works on stock AT&T roms or stock based custom roms..
What does that mean? I am still pretty clueless on devwloping.

Update:
I guess I have been making a very stupid mistake, that I was not using the stock dialer to input this code.
I tried with the original dialer and it worked!
Cheers
Does the phone need to be locked to your carrier?

Wifi Calling

Hey I have a friend who wants to flash roms on his Tmobile Note 2. The only problem is that all the TW roms I've seen don't support wifi calling. Is there a fix? Is this a problem with only stock roms?

There are quite a few that support wifi calling - any built from tmobile official bases really (like UVALK8 or UVALL4)
they should suport as long as they're not a port of the international/other carrier device ROMs

At&t wifi hot spots and custom roms - access not allowed?

I'm on my first custom rom (paranoid 2.99) and no matter what I do I get an at&t page to log in to use wifi which is something I never needed to do in stock rom. I also can't use the website to get wifi access so far now it seems like I can't use any At&t wifi spots
So is it common for custom roms not to work? Or is it a potential bug that the developer needs to address?

No one else uses at&t wifi with a custom rom? Or rather has tried to?

Maybe you should have searched before you asked. You wouldn't have conflicting information then.
Also, why are you asking the same question in multiple threads? If you read the forum rules, it should be pretty clear where this sort of thing belongs.

Not possible man. Its built into the base.
Is it true that WiFi calling will work only with a T-Mobile SIM?

Not only does it have to be a TMo SIM, but it has to be a wifi calling ENABLED SIM. WIFI calling is strictly a TMo feature.
And before anyone chimes in, yes, there are other SIP/VOIP solutions (Google Voice for example) but as has been discussed many times, its not the same thing.
So your saying that if i have T-Mobile then i can install WiFi calling from the official ROM an it'll work
JELLYBAM™ 7.4.0
You also have to Activate it on your TMobile account in order to work. In my case I have to call TMobile cuz some glitch with my account.

And no! It's bake into the framework and there are a couple of lib files as well as changes to the build prop. Before ICS it was possible to port it to non T-Mobile Samsung ROMs ( i was doing it with i9000 roms for the vibrant on GB) but I don't think anyone has figured out how to do it since they made allot of changes. I did look I into it on ICS but the changes they made were many. Also because it uses plan minutes it can't be used on other carriers.

The only way to have it in your ROM is to start with a T-mo base, like the official 4.2.1 that already has it. Then you can add your own custom touches to the ROM, but it's still going to have to be a touchwiz-based T-mobile ROM at it's core.
If you want something like WiFi calling download the app Contacts+ in the play store. Works just the same.

I9505 roms question. (before flashing it)

So I know wifi calling will be out of the i9505 rom but does that mean I can't send text messages over wifi? I know on stock rom you can with the stock messenger. Also, will I lose 4G LTE? And what other things are taken out?

As far as I know, you also can't send messages over WiFi, but I might be wrong on that aspect since I don't actually use that feature. 4G LTE will be perfectly fine as long as you don't accidentally flash a modem as well.

Not on i9505 ROMs there isn't.
On the WiFi texting, I can't think of any ROMs that allow you to send texts from your actual phone number, but Google Voice allows you to send SMS messages using your GV number over WiFi. As far as I've noticed though, it's limited to SMS; no MMS functions.

Right... I completely disregarded you as being the op :cyclops: My bad lol, but seriously though, I would say that the WiFi messaging is tied to T-Mobile's WiFi calling. There is plenty of room for me to be wrong, but I base my judgement on that because I can't send SMS/MMS over WiFi on i9505 ROMs. I also don't have T-Mobile service either, but don't see how that would matter when using another model's ROM.
As far as LTE, it should work considering you use the correct APN settings.
