So I just flashed Project X 2.6 ROM:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2320041
And while I like the red background, it's not very consistent (since some apps use their own.)
I looked into the HOWTO:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1343484
And it seems a bit overkill.
I did a search on the "Themes and Apps" forum, and couldn't find any flashable theme that just restore the app background to black.
So, does anyone out there have a "restore app background" MOD that I can use, or should I just go ahead and try to fix framework.res myself?
Thank you!

If you can upload your ROM's framework apk, I can do it.

If the developer makes a theme that is theme manager compatible, you install the apk. Then you check theme manager and you install it. The honeybread theme works this way, for example.
Ah ok so it uses apks. Thanks

Yes the themes are apks. Pretty much everything you need to know is in this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=948109
Basically you just download and install the apks just like they were apps. Some of them are in that thread and there are also some in the market. Then you just open up the theme chooser and pick what theme you want to use. After choosing your theme, you need to reboot because not all the changes are applied until after you reboot.

i'm beginning to like the stock messaging app since it supports emoji's now (well at least for cm10 / aokp users) but the white background is killing my eyes!! Can anyone help me make the background pitch black? & I guess i'd have to make the font white lol. & please dont refer me to GO SMS or HANDCENT. Thank you =]

Sorry but when I said Stock I meant the stock android jelly bean messaging app. Which doesn't have the option to do that.. I'm using 4.1.1 AOKP Not TouchWiz
Dude just open the apk with apk manager, take the time to theme it the way you want. Finish up and your done.

Have you edited the background in the themes apk and decompiled/recompiled? If you have you've broken the signature.

Ive been looking for a Fallout pip-boy 3000 style theme for a while now. Its basically why I created this account. I was thinking vault boy app logos in a pip-boy style menu bar or something. There is one for jail broken iPhones but i have found nothing for rooted androids yet. Ill gladly pay 15 dollars if someone can develop a solid theme.
Unfortunately I dont have enough posts to post outside links yet, but if you google "fallout 3 iPhone theme" You can find pictures.
Thank you in advance.

Wow thanks. Another quick question though, do I have to run this through another app such as or similar to Go Launcher EX? Because i found two other themes but they both require me to run through some other app and the theme isnt changing the actually home screen of my phone, just the appearance of the application im using the theme through.
Ill give it a shot though, thank you.

Hey guys, was just wondering if anyone has any idea where I could get a dark or black themed stock contacts apk. I really like the color scheme and style of Contacts+ but I'd rather stick with the stock because I like its setup.
If you have any help, please feel free to share or point me in the right direction. Thanks ahead, cheers!

Hello! Thanks for your response! Could you please post a your signature link in a reply? I seem to not be able to click it on my XDA app for some reason.
Edit: I got to it. But, I was looking more for a flashable zip I suppose? Just want to replace the current dialer without changing my current rom
