Hey you guys!
Ik hope this is the right topic to post in, since it's about an app, but about the DHD as well.
For about a week now whatsapp wont push my messages forward to a notification.
When i recieve a message i will only get notified when i open up the whatsapp main screen (like it has to load the new messages instead of pushing it right away). This ofcourse takes all the functionality out of the app!
Anyone here got the same problem? my buddies (none of them on DHD) have no problems what so ever, except when they try to reach me. Altough, 1 friend of mine has the exact same problem (running DHD ROM on HD2) another friend of mine (with the exact same software setup on HD2 as well) has no problems.
Also, htcsense.com can no longer reach my phone to ring or block the device.
-stock DHD on 2.3
-most recent version of whatsapp
-doesnt matter if 3g or Wifi
-tried reinstalling the program
-htcsense.com apparantly "Can't connect to phone"
any you guys have suggestions?
You aren't running a task manager app are you?, in my experience HTCsense.com would work intermittently at best anyway, but no problems with Whattsapp notifications here but I am running CM7
yes im running SystemPanel 1.0.9.
But im using this task manager for months now and until now there were no problems at all, the task assigned to whatsapp is excluded from the kill list

TASK MANAGERS ARE EVIL REMOVE IT NOW AND YOUR LIFE WILL BE BETTER, don't just take my word for it try some of these sources for size Phandroid, Androidspin, Infoworld, Lifehacker and Androinica. As Cyanogen himself says remove your task manager and reproduce the bug and we'll see what we can do.
Got the same problem with htcsense. Can't lock or locate my phone or let it ring. No problems with whatsapp, thats working fine. Also on a stockrom 2.3.3 on a Desire HD
Erik
I don't use htcsense.com, but I use SystemPanel (with Whatsapp excluded), and whatsapp works perfectly without exception: I receive audio notification when the phone is inactive, and the messages pop up in front of the lockscreen.
(stock rooted Froyo, eng & S-off)
I have heard a lot about htcsense.com, hence I don't use it... but Whatsapp is very stable for me. Could be a combination of ROM/other apps, but in principle I'd look at htcsense.com
I had these problems when I got my DHD. For me everything went fine after I:
-Created a new Sense Account
-Settings --> Location --> Tick Phonefinder and turn gps on
-Settings-->Accounts &b Sync --> Click on "HTC Sense" and Set the update schedule on "As items change (push)"
-In case its not there just try to download an additional wallpaper and log on with your sense account.
After that you go again to htcsense.com
Log in and then locate your phone.
Now you should see the GPS icon in your phones statusbar...
Now go outside an make sure you find GPS signal.
many thanks for the responses! I have found a few more things that could maybe help us crack this case.
When im in the whatsapp client, it shows the status of recepient (online, typing etc.) as "online" or "last seen at xx:xxu" in wich xx:xx is often after i sent the message.
In short: there is traffic going on between me, the server and the recepient even though messages i sent won't pop on their screens, and theirs not on mine.
(classic case of not enough internetz?)
Also, removing the task manager had no result!
Just an update to how I got this working in my 2013 Ford Focus with MyFord Touch.
First, CM10 Nightlies has the needed update to Bluetooth Message Access Protocol (MAP) for the MyTouch to properly read text messages as they come in. (whomever did that, thank you!)
Second, it was bugging me that the Nexus wouldn't push the full contact card, to include the contact photo, so I set out to find a way to do this. Getwiththeprogram over on the Sync Owner to Owner forum found this neat little program called Bluetooth File Transfer which has the ability to push contacts, INCLUDING pictures, to the MyFord Touch system. Below is the link. Simply remove your current phone book from the MyFord Touch, disconnect the phone from the system. Then, manually add the phone in the bluetooth settings instead of having it open for other devices to connect, where you put a code in both the phone and then on the MyFord Touch. Once connected, both the Bluetooth File Transfer software and the MyFord Touch software will see each other. Last step, on the bluetooth file software, goto options, more, then send contacts, and select which ones you want to send (all, some, whatever). On the myford touch, select ADD CONTACTS (manually again) and then have the phone push the contacts. You should see the car updating contacts, one by one. The screen will go away, but it's not done, wait for it to come back and say it's complete.
That's it... and to be honest, that took a lot of digging to find, it's not documented very well anywhere.
If you get stuck, just let me know, I might be able to help.
Bluetooth File Transfer
A quick update. I have to correct my previous post. It looks like it's either or... contact pics or mytouch (with updated bluetooth MAP). Because the Bluetooth File Transfer requires a connection to send the contact info (pics) it needs to connect to the mytouch stereo. This is a separate connection from the regular updated MAP bluetooth connection. So, when you try to revert back to the regular connection, you have it's associated contact list (minus the pictures).
I am going to try to write to the folks at CM and see if I can find someone with the knowledge to get this a step closer.
Le sigh...
Thanks for that. I'm picking up my new car in a few weeks. I'm using minco rom. Will report back if it works.
Which nightly are you using? I have a 2013 fusion and I'm on the latest nightly but I can't get the MAP profile to work.
Thanks
So when I look at the info for my phone on the MFT system. I under profiles I see SMS. Is there something I'm missing?
Thanks

I just loaded cm-10-20121029 and the MAP functionality broke, again. So I made a decision to just stick with what I know works for sure, regardless of nightly... and went back to the Bluetooth File Transfer app. I'll wait to see if I hear back from the CM10 devs regarding the update to the bluetooth stack. Until then, at least I can show off peoples pics when they call. (LOL, shallow, I know, but I love it!)
The nightly that did get MAP to work for me was cm-10-20121027.

In my Focus, I was unable to find a profiles setting.
If you are trying to get it to read texts, the nightly I listed above does it once you load it, don't have to do a thing. (at least I didn't) Still, tonights nightly broke it again. Le sigh... Still, I am glad I got one of the last two things up and running.
Btw, little tip, when (if) you are trying to load a picture for your background, the pic must be exactly 800x384. Any other size and it won't load. Pretty neat once it's in there tho! Now if I can find where to change the loading and closing Ford logo files, lol!
I don't suppose this blue tooth file transfer app would help make Google maps navigation work using the car speakers? The Bluetooth system in my car is called blue and me (fait punto). I'd love this, gets hard to hear the phone speaker over 50mph
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus
So I went back to the nightly you said but I still don't get any text message alert. If I switch to AOKP I can send texts from the car but still doesn't read them to me. Any help would be great.
Thanks
I just moved to a new Galaxy Note 2, and everything works... out of the box. Both texts able to be read and pictures showing up with contacts.
I am using CM10 M2 and can confirm that it bluetooth MAP works with my BMW connecteddrive. Of course, only SMS works, no emails.
sorry
Additionally, CM10 M2 also seems to have AVRCP 1.3 and can stream music track NAMES. Stock JB was not able to do that. This tested on BMW .
I figured out how to do.it.
You use the same program as mentioned in first post.
Set up your phone NORMALLY with bluetooth.
THen delete your phonebook in mytouch.
Then go to your phone screen.. then settings...then manage phonebook
Then go to add a contact
Next, GO TO THE ANDROID PHONE.... then open the program, then click the 3 dots and select send contact. Select as many as you want. Then click send as single... then select SYNC...
Watch the contacts upload. Then click on on mytouch...all done!!!!
I have been having an MMS issue on and off since january. I have been on CM10 and 10.1 nightlies since December. First it was that they wouldnt send right away, then resending them would work. Wasnt a big deal since i only send a pic like 1 or 2 times a week. Figured it was because it was a nightly issue, never dug into it, figured in a few days it would be resolved in an update kind of thing. Well a few weeks go by and suddenly it stops working. And the only way i can get MMS to send is if i have someone send me a pic first. At this point i did some searching and posted on the CyanogenMod forums, to no avail. Both Handcent(my primary MMS app) and the android default just were not working. But my mobile data was fine on 3g and 4g Well about a week ago it all stopped. I would get the downloading window, but nothing would ever come, and my pics would just spin and spin.
So today i had enough, and did the following:
I downloaded & installed CM10.1 M1 (because it was working for me back then i believe) And immediately got a pic that i sent to myself from my work phone. Thought awesome, problem solved. Brought up titanium backup and restored Handcent & Messaging from backup, and figured my settings and messages would be back and good to go. Boom, MMS no longer works. Restarts, battery pulls, network reprogram, still doesnt work.
Okay, so i go back, bif my cache & settings in CWM and reinstall CM10.1 M1 and MMS works fine. So i wait, make sure its not a timing/network update issue. 20min later it still works. So i figure it must be some setting or my handcent install that was screwed that Titanium Backup restored. Oh well. Install handcent from market fresh thinking that would be the end of it. MMS stops working immediately after install.
Uninstall handcent & restart, MMS works fine on the default app.
I checked the MMS auto download settings in handcent when i had it on there, had it grab the MMS automatically, and while roaming as well, went through every setting screen 1 by 1 because i love handcent, it has always worked for a charm like me and i liked the customization of it.
Does anyone have any input or suggestions on how to get this working?
I've been a CM fan since my first Android device, and I'm thinking of going back to stock for battery life. CM sleeps incredibly well on my phone, losing 1-1.5% per hour idle. But the "awake" life of the phone on CM was never as good as stock. I'm a very heavy user, the phone only sleeps for an hour or two max from when I leave my house for work to when I get home. With my new responsibilities at work, I haven't been able to charge much during the day, and the phone is no longer lasting a full day.
Last time I attempted to go to stock, I found a few pet peeves that made me go back to CM and carry a charger.
The dialer is terrible compared to AOSP. Google Voice (what I use for Voicemail) doesn't integrate with it, and you can't swipe from dial pad to recent calls, to contacts.
The stock messaging app is fugly, though it can reliably send MMS, with CM I get about a 80-85% success rate on my first try.
So question one would be, are the dialer and MMS replacable with the stock versions? I can easily pull the APKs from CM and put them onto stock, but before I do all of the work of getting stock back up on there, I wanted to make sure it was possible.
Question 2 would be, is there any way to get the AOSP look of the quick settings and the System settings? I personally find the Touchwiz skins to be cartoony and annoying, plus if I recall correctly, there was no way to customize the quick settings in stock (last time I was stock it was ICS though).
Any and all help is appreciated!

You could try dandroid 3.2. Its a nice AOSP themed ROM or Jelly 'beans' is another AOSP type one. The AOSP MMS is easy to intergrate into any stock rom and most here have that option. You did word it a bit odd as I can't for sure if you like the stock or aosp dialer/mms.
Never had an issue with stock dialer or aosp dialer and AOSP mms workss fine for me. My rom has some things like you mention as well. Lots of different options out there
Allow me to try to clear that up a bit...
stock dialer is non-ideal for me. I like to swipe between the number pad, my recent calls, and my contacts like I can in AOSP. I also "need" Google Voice Voicemail integration.
As for MMS, I think Stock is really ugly, but it works, so I can compromise to using it after I get used to it. AOSP MMS has issues sending MMS on a bad signal for me. I have between no signal and zero bars at my house on LTE, 1-2 bars on HSPA, but AOSP always defaults to LTE if that connection is available. So I perpetually have a bad signal at home.
Thanks for the input, I'll check out the stock roms you mentioned now, and come back with any questions if I any come up.
Exdialer, handcent, any tw based Rom

well I just flashed a touchwiz ROM, and no, you cannot. It really shouldn't... but it drives me nuts!
I flash DanDroid for the AOSP look of most things. So far, so good. A few things that are bothering me though.
1. The "Choose Input" notification that comes up when you have the keyboard open won't go away, even when its unchecked in the Display Settings.
2. The dialer... omg. Can't swipe back and forth between dialer, contacts, etc. The touch tone sound is some "boink" crap that I can't figure out how to change to real touchtones. Google Voice Voicemail integration doesn't work. Why or why would Samsung need to screw with the AOSP dialer and either remove features or add "cartoony" crap? le sigh. I was going to try the dialer suggested above, but it says that it will remind me to buy the pro version every 7 days, not really ideal.
Other than those three issues, everything else seems to be going just fine thus far.
Edit: It appears that I cannot make calls using DanDroid. I tried, it said not registered on the network. I made sure the APN was there and correct, it was, no calls. Re-wiped, flashed, booted, rebooted to recovery, flashed the ATT zip from the main post of the DanDroid thread... When I tried to make a call "Not Registered On the Network". Uhhhgg.
Looks like this battle will have to take place another day. Nandroiding back to CM...
suggestions still welcome.

I second t-motion for what you are looking for. You could always consider apps like contact + or messaging +

I recently switched back from Pac to Cyanogen. I use the business calendar app as I like it's settings etc. However, after having switched back from Pac, my calendar notifications are not working. I haven't missed anything yet, but it will probably happen. I am not sure what I might be missing. I have ensured that my timezone is set, gone through various settings menus on the phone and in the app to see what might be going on. I deleted the app and re-installed. Nothing seems to cause them to function. I am not sure what might be the cause of this, and thought I would see if there were any ideas here. For now I have installed the google calendar, but it is a pretty poor substitute (though the notifications are working ) . TIA for any thoughts.
