Wait, did she update the TOUCHSCREEN fitmware? Theres was thread warning us not to update it and if the update finished. You would have no touchscreen. Wiping everything wont work.Even reflashing stock rom (or so i heard)

So i just created this thread to alert you all of a possible TOUCH brick situation !
*#*#2663#*#* (don't dial) is a Samsung secret code that brings a touch screen firmware info window . Now a days most custom Roms come pre installed with an app called Samsung secret codes and unfortunately i was on one such Rom and i tried this code - on the window that appeared there was an update button and not knowing what it does i clicked it and a pop up showing updating alongwith the usual busy circle came up ! I waited for the process to finish but even after waiting 10-15 minutes the circle was still there and a when i pressed the back key i was shocked to realize that doesn't respond nor was the menu key responding ! i pressed the home button and voila ! - i came back to the home screen btw again to my awe i touched the screen only to realize that my touch isn't working - the phone responds to all hardware buttons but touch ain't working
i rebooted and still no luck ! i thought no big deal and flashed stock Rom via Odin - but this time i was really shocked to death to find that even though stock Rom got flashed without errors and my phone booted fine my touch was still screwed up !
after hours of Googling and tensions a friend of mine finally found a method and solved the issue using this thread :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=22709246&postcount=1
morale : Enough of long boring story - all i wanted to tell is that NEVER EVER dial *#*#2663#*#* and do update - it won't give you any benefit and chances of screwing up are very high ! and if at all you accidentally get into this then wait for the updating process to complete no matter how long it takes !
thanx bro,its good to know!!!!!!:good:

The update might have been successful then - in my case it failed or i rebooted before it completed !
One time, my brain plays N00B and my finger pressed on update.
And my touchscreen is not bricked (but dont try this option)
thanks for this..i wont take a risk to update my Touch FW haha
I tried that earlier on creed 3.5 screwed up the touch. I had to reflash the rom

Just be careful don't stay away - it has its uses you know !
(First of all, forgive me for my bad english) I bought mine on March 3, and checked the chip. It was sane (0xf7). It also had android 4.1.2.
For 2 days, I used the device for installing some apps (no root, no installing ROMs, etc.) I went shopping on 3rd day to get a cover for it. I asked the first shop and he took my device and wrapped it in cover. However, I didn't like the cover and told him to remove it. When the cover was removed, my phone had this error (weird): Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in kies and try again.
I took it to a repairer and he did everything he could, but it wasn't fixed. I learned from him that the device didn't go to recovery mode (only download mode) and it didn't charge its battery. At last, he said maybe it had hardware issues.
Any ideas? What happend to my device? :crying:

Are you sure it will fix my problem? The repair guy flashed a Rom on it, but why did it remain on the error screen?
I don't have my phone now. I'm supposed to take it today from the guy. Could you please write down the step-by-step guide, so I can do it when I take my device?
We could give a try but when I had a problem I was able to fix it so twll me if it loaded to the download screen

I went to get my device, but the repairer told me because of its faulty motherboard, it couldn't accept any flashed Rom, etc. He'll replace its motherboard in the next few days. Anyway, thank you so much for your help.

Hi,
My phone is the GT I8510. When i put the battery in, the phone continu restarts; I see Samsung then 1 second samsung galaxy w gt 8150 then a restart. I can press on home and volume down. then odin start.
CUSTOM BINARY DOWNLOAD: NO
CURRENT KERNEL: UNKNOWN !!
I see the android guy, but then the phone restarts.
So the phone cant stay on long enough to be detected by samsung kies.
help anyone? I havent done anything else to the phone. big noob on android and phones
you can't solve this problem for sure !
the only thing you will have to do is go to samsung custom services and pretend that you didn't do anything and let them change the main motherboard ,if you are under warranty then . you are lucky , you will fix it for free , if its not then you will have to pay ...
i hope i helped! Cheers..

Hard Reset:
1. Turn off your device.
2. Then press and hold Volume Down + Home Button + Power On.
3. Wait for a few seconds until the Factory reset menu appears.
4. Select "wipe data/factory reset" by using the Volume Down button.
and till now no suspension and very good speed in reponse

I rooted my Samsung Galaxy GT-S5660 and it was working fine but when I tried using the ROM Manager for recovery mode the phone display went off and after that it is not starting again, no key combinations are working now, no download mode, recovery mode etc not even the battery is shown charging or discharging now...the battery is working fine though...it seems completely dead. I had shown it to the Samsung Service centre they said hardware is fine but the problem seems to be with the software...probably boot loader or something else is corrupted...still don't know the exact problem...Had shown it to a lot of Service people but since its not starting nobody seems to know what could be the problem here...How do I get my phone to start again??? please help

You Shouldn't Have Used ROM Manager As Galaxy Gio Is Not Supported By ROM Manager. I Am Sorry But Theirs Nothing You Can Do To Revive Your Phone. Only JTAG Can Unbrick A Gio Bricked By ROM Manager
Thank you for the information...
