I rooted my Samsung Galaxy GT-S5660 and it was working fine but when I tried using the ROM Manager for recovery mode the phone display went off and after that it is not starting again, no key combinations are working now, no download mode, recovery mode etc not even the battery is shown charging or discharging now...the battery is working fine though...it seems completely dead. I had shown it to the Samsung Service centre they said hardware is fine but the problem seems to be with the software...probably boot loader or something else is corrupted...still don't know the exact problem...Had shown it to a lot of Service people but since its not starting nobody seems to know what could be the problem here...How do I get my phone to start again??? please help

You Shouldn't Have Used ROM Manager As Galaxy Gio Is Not Supported By ROM Manager. I Am Sorry But Theirs Nothing You Can Do To Revive Your Phone. Only JTAG Can Unbrick A Gio Bricked By ROM Manager
Thank you for the information...

Right. so this is what happened. My friend rooted his s3 and.. well.. he played where he shouldnt have. he went into recovery mode and formatted everything because he thought format was a good thing -.- (that was until I told him it meant delete), so after I gave him a ROM to install, cause evidently he had erased his system.... after the installation, it said completed, then asked him to restart the phone, and when he pressed yes It just never turned back on. no bootloop or anything. just black screen.
I've tried going back into recovery mode (power+home+vol up).......no response.
I've tried going into Download Mode (power+home+vol down) ....... no response.
when I plug it into the computer or USB charger without a battery in the phone the notification light turns red for a few minutes. with battery in, nothing.
my guess is that a ROM got installed, without the bootloader being unlocked. (oops)
what I'm really here for though, is to ask if you can really blank screen brick your phone just by downloading a bad rom.
any help anyone? any advise on what I should try? anything? thanks!
Samsung Galaxy s3 SGH-i747M(bell)
(I have his phone for the weekend because he will be away and wont be able to try anything to fix it, hence why I'm here asking this.)
The Rom we accidently put on it was called Android Revolution HD SGS3 17.0 I honestly cant find on the site weather its international or not s:
need more info what rom if it was a international rom then the phone is hard bricked and needs to be jtaged
idk!

Would a usb jig work? anything work? we're only kids we cant get 80$ to pay for a phone repair -.-
I ordered usb jigs yesterday.. they better do something!
most likely no you might try taking it back to your carrier and tell them you updated to jb with kies and the phone wont turn on they will send it to samsung for a warranty repair but if samsung finds out you flashed a rom they will charge you for repair if you can get to download mode with the jig then you can oden stock rom

alright, thats what I'll do. if the Jig doesnt work I'll get my friend to return it to bell and say some sort of lie XD

no problem just tell your friend if they find out samsung will bill him for the repair and it will be more than 80 dollars

like... alot more than 80$? because if so my friend can get a new phone through his insurance for 150$ it would be useless to wait 5 weeks to repair a phone that would cost almost as much as it would getting a new one
i am not sure let me search
couldnt find anything seems like it was a couple hundred dollars but i cant find that thread so i could be wrong found one where the guy did the samething and they fixed his for free ok after more checking those whose phone would not power on was fixed by samsung for free
Thank You!!

your welcome next time do a little more reading before you flash it saves alot of trouble
So, i tried changing my roms from Paranoid Android to myonev 9.5
And i knew i had to flash boot.img but then i thought I'd do it after flashing the rom (sorry im a noob) which happened to be a graaaaaave mistake
Now my phone doesnt switch on to bootloader nor does it show the charging LED!'
I have a primoU device. Ive googled aroud and found out that it could be a hard brick and the only way is to give it to a service centre..
But the problem there is i live in INDIA and we dont have much service centres here, the closest one is around 400kms from my home :/
So i wanna really make sure that is it worth travelling all those miles..
PLUS, My warranty expired 2 months back :crying:
I wish somebody helps me here, i will do ANYTHINGGG

Try reverting to stock with a stock backup you'll find that on xda ... of your phones not booting into bootloader manually try using the all in one kit..it should have such an option although i didn't try this... If u can boot in bootloader then there's 99.9% chance that ur phone will come back to live
hold your power button until the screen goes off
then hold down your volume down button until u boot into bootloader
if it doesnt boot, try and try again
if u can boot into bootloader, the rest is easy

hmmm then im sorry to say but i think u have bricked your phone :crying:
no choice but to send to hTC
is it this easy to brick?
one small error?
arent there any drivers for this qhsusb thing? so that it can detect my phone and then i can adb it to bootloader?
Sorry mate then I'm afraid it's bricked but still you should keep trying put the phone in charging even if its not showing led signal.. Then try again to boot into bootloader...maybe it helps..coz it should not brick so easily:fingers-crossed:

Actually it is a very good idea i myself did it once .. but the difference was that screen was struck on white bright HTC screen taking a lot of battery so it got discharged in 10 hrs but just now it will take a lot of time .. so i don't think you have that much patience...
That happened to me too, but that's not a brick, that's just stuck. This dude's phone is badly bricked, only way would be to find a driver for QHSUBS_DLOAD but I don't think it will be easy to find as all htc devices have this problem, someone would have already found it by now
I had rooted this my galaxy note 2 N7100 and was using CWM recovery and had tried many roms, the last working rom was Hawkish rom with Perseus Kernel from XDA developers
It was working perfect since first week of June then it started some lagging ang I had to restart it everytime it stops responding
so i decided to try another rom and flashed it with some (I dont remember it right now but i will update this in evening) ROM through sideload
everything went well but device went into bootlop
so i tried to wipe cache as well as user data still it didnt help
so desperately I formatted ext sdcard from the recovery (I did not had ext sdcard in the device)
and then it just went off without any message or anything
it doenst go to recovery or download mode ?? :crying::crying:
also I had replaced the display in January but i dont think its a problem of display since i tried start it up and then connected to PC and when i say adb devices it doesnt show up but I am not sure ?
ok this seems to be an SDS problem suggest you to go trough SDS Threads in this forum see if you could get some info on this ,.

:good:Thank you very much for your reply and I have gone throught the SDS post but i dont think it is SDS problem
I think its something to do with formatting the ext sdcard from recovery as untill then it was working fine
hopefully i can repair it with fixing bootloader but I am not sure how to do that if phone does not start
unfortunately since i have replaced a lacd digitizer i dont have warranty from samsung so for my device i hope its not SDS :fingers-crossed:

I have gone through that manual and I did all I could but still it didn't start up
expect the ANYWAY JIG thing since i didnt find the JIG anywhere online and was not sure how to connect all those cables shown in the picture
so desperately i had given it to repair shop and to my bad luck they dont know what is wrong with it
the only thing they told me is that the board (mother board) doesn't get power and they dont know the reason for that
now coming to repair the partition :
can it be because of partition or because of SDS ?
if its because of partition then at least i have some hopes
otherwise its a dead end
does anyone has any idea what can be the problem?

time for you to take it Service Center
extSDCard as emmc
is there any possibility that I can use this method to revive my note if i have SDS
https://leemn.wordpress.com/2012/10/25/galaxy-note-2-swapping-external-sd-card-as-internal-memory/
I have been using my n2 for 1 year. but, I found my note 2 not turning on two days back. I just kept it fully charged and the next morning its not turning on. It was first stuck on the boot logo. then, I pulled the battery out and try to factory reset from stock recovery. but, I couldn't enter. then I tried installing the stock rom via odin. but, no luck. my android version was 4.1. can anyone tell me where is the problem and how I can solve?
oh one thing, now its not even turning on. just going to download mode. if I connect it to charger a battery icon shows up with a refresh circle on middle.
Sorry for hear that, mine have died on Sunday night u_u after flashing Agni kernel but I don't think the fault was for the kernel, the days before flashing it was already showing an erratic behavior like freezing and rebooting by it self. I thought it was because an undervolt or something like that (some custom roms do it) so i tried changing the kernel =( to see how it will die.
I took my phone to an external service center on yesterday morning (It doesn't have warranty anymore), and there they used Riffbox and Jtag to trying come back to life  and it worked for a couple of hours. They told me it had the bootloader bricked. I have my doubts because I have not even touched the bootloader just once when I rooted it after bought It (if it was touched after it, should be on an update or custom rom flashing, I don't know).
But last night was died again, so I started to search on web and I found this SDS, all the stuff described are the same that my phone suffered (but It was on 4.3 Ditto Note 3 soooo I though it was already solved since 4.1.2).
Is very sad but now I'm going back to the Service Center to tell them what I found. Maybe they will need to change the emmc or the motherboard =S I hope it doesn't cost a lot.u_u
Whatever, maybe yours one can have the bootloader broken, because yours turn on into download, mine doesn't turn on to recovery/samsung logo/download. Perhaps you can have luck and a chip solution just trying to flash another bootloader with odin and if you can get back working your Android, don't forget to download the "emmc check" app from playstore. It will give you any clue about this, if it says your emmc is vulnerable you will need to do the same as me changing emmc or motherboard but if you have luck and says it is not a bad batch you will no have problems again just flashing a good bootloader.

Service Center in my country told me, that i have modified the software and that there is no warranty to it even if it was SDS, for which they know...
New motherboard and that's it...:crying:
U should have done factory reset by stock recovery and bring binary count to 0 by that. I had same problm. Went to service centre there they told to replace motherboard which was almost costing very high. Luckily I had made everything on phone normal before going to service centre so I had done all in warranty《free》

if you can go into download mode try flashing a stock rom via ODIN and report back. If it says NO PIT PARTITION in ODIN then you need to flash the pit file and then a stock rom .

Sorry to hear that, but they told you nonsense. If it's really SDS they have to repair for free. Ask a friend in your country who is envolved in legal things, a lawyer best.
One in general: As long as one can start eg. download mode, it is no SDS, mostly a software prob.

well That's what I thought first I'm gonna check that before I go any further but the thing is that phone was plugged in to charger all night and than when I got up I decide I'm gonna turn off the key press sounds after I've locked screen, phone crash and I can't turn it on anymore I think What happened is when it crash I couldn't restart it so I've get the battery out and now it maybe hard bricked so lets say its hard bricked how do I unbrick it any chances to do it at home without jtag or sending phone to service
ok so different battery doesn't work so it means the phone is bricked What the hell to do now ? I had it soft bricked but that means just flashing soft again how do I flash my phone If I can't turn it on ??
Maybe this is related to your problem. Not sure though.

Please dont use the term soft-bricked it sounds ridiculous. You're device is either "bricked" or it isnt. If you can flash a rom to device to solve an issue you're device is not "bricked".
If it's not turning on with a new battery it sounds like you have a hardware failure so may need a new mobo or JTAG service.
