Unknown device, error 43 - HTC One X

I have following problem:
Today i bought new usb cable, as oldr one was in bad state and did not charge phone. When i connected it to pc with new cable, phone charged properly, but was not recognised by pc. I tried on win 7, win 8, still nothing. Updated htc sync manager, didnt help. Cant update drivers, as i get message: "drivers are up to date: unknown device". Currently I download ADT bundle, maybe it will help.
In device managed phone is listed as unknown device in universal serial bus controllers , and under its state there is error 43.
When i connect phone using old cable, everything is fine(except charging ofc).
Can anyone help?

USB Device Not Recognised on Bootloader

I have a problem. My Exec is stuck on the bootloader screen. All I see is Serial at the top, and v1.00 at the bottom.
When I connect my exec via USB, the screen continues to say Serial (rather than switching to USB) and the PC I connect to 'installs' the device as 'unknown device' in device manager.
I've seen mention of the problem elsewhere on the site, but the only solution I can find seems to be to keep trying, and eventually it's recognised. So far, after three days of trying, it has not been recognised.
I am aware of Buzz tool to get the device out of bootloader mode, but that required a connection to be established, which at the moment, I can't do.
Has anyone got any experience of this, or any ideas as to what's causing this, or how this can be fixed? I have tried uninstalling the 'unknown device' from device manger, restarting the PC (and hard reset of the Exec) then reconnecting, but the same thing happens every time.
Any ideas would be appreciated, as I'm currently staring at a rather expensive paper weight.
Try this it shld work

This is based on my experience with two UNis..one Exec and other JASJAR..both had same problem...this is how I solved :
-Put yr device in bootloader Mode
-Disable USB in Active Sync
-Now connect woth USB cable and open mtty utility
-Select the "WESUSB... " port
-You shall see a blank white screen..press Enter to get "USB>"
-Then type ( as BUzz has informed) set 14 0
(here I wud like to inform that after doing the above I did not get success so I typed set 14 10,then set 14 9 for two three times)
-Then I ran the ROM Upgrade directly(After enbabling the USB)
-I then followed the procedure as informed on the COngratulations Screen that is hold the two "-" buttons and soft reset and then pressed 0
-I got them back to normal..
I hope this helps to all my friends...Pls feel free..pls do not trouble our Buzz..he might be busy in inventing something more to our devices

Just noticed your user name, I was a big Amiga fan a few years back, still fire up Amiga forever occasionally on my PC when I feel the need.

Try it with a different USB cable or in a different USB port (don't go through a hub and if you've been using a laptop then try it on a desktop PC since some laptops have hubs built into them). If that doesn't work then you're out of luck as your Universal isn't detecting that you've connected to your PC and its time to send it in for repair.
Thanks Niketkumar - unfortunately it's the step before your suggestion kicks in thats the problem - the device won't connect to the PC, so when using mtty WESUSB..... isn't an option, only COM1 and COM2.
Shuflie, I've tried with three separate USB cables on a laptop and desktop (neither through a hub, and the same device has worked fine on both laptop and desktop before).
I fear a trip to the doctors is in order ...
Very frustrating because the PC sees a device, but installs it as unknown device. Anyone know if theres a Windows CE device driver that I could try and install as an overide (i.e. in device manager on the PC go to update driver and browse to a WinCE.inf or equivalent?)
Failing this, has anyone got any clue what needs to be fixed? Or how much it might cost?
i am stuck on the same problem and wondering the forum for almost 3 days now with no luck.... please help my device is in boot loader mood but not turning the serial to USB ......... please HELP.......

Please follow the steps:
1. Plug in ur usb cable in bootloader mode while it is showing 'serial' and version 'x.xx'.
2. Soft reset by pressing Backlight+power+reset pin WHILE KEEPING THE USB CABLE CONNECTED
3. your phone will now reboot into 'usb' mode. Don't remove the usb cable yet.
4. Remove the Memory card while keeping the usb cable still connected and VOILA,your pc starts recognising your phone as Microsoft usb sync.
5. Do whatever you want to do now (upgrade)
Hope it solves the problem now.
Press thanks if it does.
Something else to try
Having had a few issues with my G3 Uni, I've been through my fare share of Uni bootloader issues. When I find that I can't get the 'serial' to go to 'USB', I normally find it's because I haven't taken the memory card or the SIM card out (usually the memory card).
Make sure your memory card is out, then try to enter the bootloader and see if this cures it. If it does, then use mtty and the command 'set 14 0'
This tells it to reboot on reset. if you were to use 'set 14 1' it would go back to the bootloader on reset.

Stuck in bootloader problem

I have a HTC Universal (Qtek 9000) device.
In an attempt to do an upgrade to bootloader v1.01, I kept getting a connection error. Apparently even while I got this error, the upgrade still managed to get my device stuck in bootloader screen
Luckily, my pc still recognizes my device when I connect it on USB. So I'm following the steps described on Wiki to solve the problem.
I disabled USB connection in WMDC, removed Sim & SD cards from the Universal, and connected it without any USB hub, or even any other USB devices connected at all. Windows installs drivers succesfully, but right after it the MS USB Sync icon disappears.
Mtty doesn't list the USB port in the ports list, and UNI_ExitBootloader gives an error "Cannot open USB port".
I tried all ports of my pc, and tried another cable too. The device indicates "USB" in the bootlader screen so it recognizes being connected.
Does anyone have an idea what could be the problem here?
Or better... what I can try to fix it

Try to reflash on windows XP, not Vista
Hope it helps,
That did help indeed, thanks!
Don't know what Vista does to my USB ports (and probably don't wanna know), but a XP VM did the trick already
My Universal is fully operational again.

[Q] Windows XP - unknown device

After rooting the phone (in this case to leedroid) I have been having trouble with 2 xp machines at work.
Both detect the phone as "unknown device".
Doesnt matter what I select, charge only, sync, disk drive, adb usb debugging.
I have uninstalled / reinstalled htc drivers repeatedly.
Tried just using android sdk drivers.
I have deleted
C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\Wdf01000.sys,
2. Remove: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Wdf
3. Remove: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Wdf01000
I have also removed anything under Vid_0000&Pid_0000
Everytime I plug it in, windows detects it as unknown device. It wont let me update the drivers.
Help please!
what do you mean it prevents you from manually updating drivers? has it ever worked before? have you tried showing hidden devices via command line then removing the old device manually and then reconnecting it?
yep did all that hidden devices stuff too.
You wont believe this but I saw a post about someone using a thicker usb cable. I recently switched to using a retractable micro usb cable at work. I brought the original htc usb cable into work today, plugged it in xp detected the phone straight away!!!!!
who would have thought a cable was the problem!!?? All that wasted time!

Phone not recognized by computer

Hey so i have been having a big problem recently. my htc one m8 32 gb verizon version doesnt get recognized by my computer. ive tried different computers, ports, and cables. i even got a new charging port and installed it but nothing. when i plug my phone into my pc, nothing pops up. the phone only charges but no option to transfer files. htc sync says no phone connected. Also have usb debugging enabled but nothing. running on 6.0 marshmallow and any help would be nice. Thanks!
If you look at your notifications, there will be one you can't clear saying USB Charging this device. Click on the notification and change it to File Transfer.
Couple comments:
1) Try the genuine HTC cable that came with the phone. I've noticed that some 3rd party cables will only charge, and not connect by USB/MTP. I assume the pin layout on those particular cables is not exactly the same as what HTC uses.
I know you probably already tried this (HTC cable) but this may at least narrow down the variables.
2) Assuming a Windows PC, go to device manager, find the phone (hopefully, its listed) then select the option to manually select a driver. Then pick the generic driver for "Android MTP device" (or something like that, forget the exact name). If often have to do this to get my home PC to "see" my M8 by USB. Although my work laptop doesn't have this issue. Your results will vary depending on your exact PC configuration, it can be very confusing and frustrating!
m8 problem
First sorry for bad English.
My M8 is not recognized by my computer. I've tried extra ports, cables, drivers .. Windows 7 64 bit is computer, android 6 is on the phone. Only the phone detects it is connected to a computer and offers the options, mtp, ptp, charging ...
What can I do?

I don't see what the problem is. The PC recognizes the phone. Are you trying to access a function such as fastboot or adb, that is not working? You never say in your post what the problem is.

Galaxy s20+ stucked in "usb device not recognized"

Last time after the phone got updated (july) it cant recognized any usb cable and it pop up the message UDB DEVICE NOT RECOGNIZED. it doesnt charge anymore with cable, only way it is via wireless. Even after the september update it hasnt recovered. Practically it cant go in rrcovery mode or download mode. I tried different cables but nothing. The phone "think" it is connected via usb cable. I tried even factory reset but nothing changed.
Does anyone know what to do?
Thanks
What you can do is deleting drivers on your windows PC.
Then download the newest drivers from this site.
Install the new drivers on your windows PC and see if this worked. Good luck.

Tried but doesnt work. It cannot connect with usb cable because it has this "bug" that make the phone think that it has an usb cable attached. I am truly desperate :/
