I suggest you go back to stock firmware and then try the code. Just make a nandroid and backup your pictures and stuff.
Some say it being rooted will make a code note work. Never tried myself

Thanks however Is this a fact because I would like to avoid flashing back to stock if possible. I guess it would be the safest thing to do but definitely would prefer not to.

The code will not work unless you are on a stock TW rom

Just make a backup of your current setup and go to a stock build. It's really easy. I always leave a backup of the stock rom on my phone in case I ever have some weird issue

Yeah don't take the update. It will cause problems if you're on a custom rom. If you want the OTA update you will have to Odin everything back to stock. Otherwise, if you have titanium then go and freeze device management to prevent that dialogue from coming back up. There's really no reason to take OTA updates because its much easier to just flash a rooted stock rom rather than Odin back to stock.

I think its much better let the devs take our OTA update and prepare it for our phones....

My i747 does the same, I've tried several time with stock kernel, Ziggy kernel and kt747 kernel but I Berber got passed the logo. I tried both, cwm and twrp latest recovery. It is the only ROM not booting on my phone so I'm not sure what's up with that.

Seems like going back to stock and flashing these Verizon based ROM's helps.

Which really stinks because I love Galaxymod but I guess I got lucky that it worked well for me with minimal effort. There one thing I've never had to do on 5 phones and wont say it for fear of jinxing myself haha
Where can I download the tmobile kernel? (the one that came out of the box)
I need it since I flashed a custom kernel and I want to revert back because I'm experiencing an issue

If you flashed the latest Samsung Touchwiz 4.2.2 UVUAMDL stock firmware and replaced
the kernel with a modified or custom one then you are surely going to loose root access
and you will need to re-root the phone.
Good luck!

I'm just trying to get the stock kernel on, instead of my current custom kernel

Generally speaking, flash, clear both caches and reboot. Some say fix permissions also. Either way should work.
I'm trying to unlock a US TMo S3 so that I can use it in the UK for 2 months during a trip.
I tried the following steps from XDA Forum to unlock my S3 locked with TMo. But dialing the code *#197328640# doesn't bring up the 'secret' menu to unlock the phone.
I'm running CM 10.1 with baseband UVDLJC. Do I have to switch to a TouchWiz rom to do this? I'm not sure why it's not working in CM.
Yes, you do. Just make a nandroid of your current setup, and flash a TW ROM.

Well, there is one...
Don't Odin flash the UVDMD5 firmware. It'll upgrade your baseband to the only one this won't work with.

Great thanks. Can I update the baseband after unlocking or will that re-lock it?
You can update w/o relocking. Once unlocked, it'll stay that way.

But nandroid backup is complete image of your phone. So it will relock it back once I restore the full backup?
I highly doubt it would re lock. Flashing roms and firmware dont do that so I'd be surprised if it did.
I haven't heard of anyone having a device relock from anything.

I bought a galaxy note 2 off a bloke he said it was unlocked turns out it was rooted! I want to go back to stock but not sure what the original stock rom was I know it's definitely UK but not sure if it's factory unlocked or on a specific network! I've downloaded the UK international stock rom think it's btu or something like that! What's the dangers please will it brick my phone! Have tried to ring him but his phones off and has been all week any help be much appreciated

I'd say follow dr.ketans guide that would be your safest bet.
But honestly I'd leave the phone rooted, at least, for the time being you'll be glad you did.

Yeah it's OK rooted but quite a few apps keep shutting down!! But it is great I must say
Sent from my GT-N7100 using xda app-developers app
Which apps fc? You could try a factory reset, flash a custom rom or of course revert back to unrooted or Flash a new stock rom. If you choose the last option ensure you run triangle away first
